I've seen a lot in this lifetime of mine
He would stare intently then, as the two “knights” would go at it. Blade against blade. Or spear to whatever other weapon really. Josh watched as his old friend Nador would joust with this strange new individual, the cheers and screams of the people bringing a smile to his face, slowly reinvigorating an old feeling that the former warrior hadn’t felt in a long time. A fire for battle. It was something he had turned away for over two years. But he knew deep down that you could take the warrior out of the fight… But you could never take the fight out of the warrior. Josh felt even himself growing excited seeing Nador fight, seeing the kid grow up into a man on the field of battle. Nador had been almost a protege to him at one point in Josh’s life - all the way back when he had been… Well, somebody else. Deep down.. Josh was proud of Nador in more ways than he could ever say. “Kick his ass, Nador! Make him go from grey to black with a good old black eye!” The golden blonde haired farmboy would join in the crowd’s screaming with, a big, ecstatic grin on his face. So what if he was acting a little bit silly? This was a festival, it was a time, a day, to kick back and have fun! Let loose for a change! But the screams began to change… And even Josh was able to pick up on it. It felt as though time itself had completely stopped as he would turn around, as the joust was interrupted by people fleeing for their lives, a crowd moving wildly to try and escape… The city was on fire. The source flocked from the shadows, cutting people down in droves, and Josh’s pupils shrank as he saw his worst nightmares begin to come to life. Moblins and their bokoblin cousins would rage from the inferno, and attack… And still, everything burned. All he could see was the fire… And the monsters that made the inferno their herald of what destruction they intended to wraught. Josh lost his grip on Maude’s hand, and he would cry out, snapped from his daze, reaching for her desperately, his brimming brown eyes shining as he reached out for his beloved Maude. "M-Maude?" He let out, an almost fearful gaze in his eyes... But the panic of the moving crowd had separated them, and he lost sight of her, as he only grabbed air. There he stood, frozen, as the monsters spread out and attacked… Was it fear? Intimidation? His mind, his instincts, they SCREAMED for him to move but his legs wouldn’t carry him. They stayed planted in place, his mouth slightly hung open as his hair blew around wildly from the gales generated by the raging flames all around him. His eyes darted about, panicked as he searched for Maude and Farrah. But he couldn’t seem to pick them out in this blasted crowd, despite his six foot four height that made him stand tall like a beacon in the crowd. His legs finally moved and he almost fell over, his legs feeling as though they were on fire, numb as though they had not moved in centuries. But he would glance toward something… And finally, his mind seemed to be made up as his gaze would sharpen. Unlike some people, Josh had not come unarmed. He never used Dragelix anymore and only kept his hunting bow in case he found any game while travelling from Ordon to Castle Town that would be good to bring home. For Dragelix? He practiced on dummies with it at times to keep sharp, as old habits died hard… But he hadn’t hit a living or moving thing in over two years. Not since clearing out the moblinkind that had taken over his former home and had slaughtered his friends and family. That was the last time he had taken up a blade… And he knew, even as his hand met the shaft of Dragelix, that it was too risky for a situation like this to use something he had not fought a living target with in years. His only chance then; was his hunting bow. He’d killed many kinds of game with it… And while he was not as efficient with it as he was with a blade, he would be less likely to miss. His hands would clasp, slowly… Hesitantly… Along the wooden bow as he would unclip it from his tunic, grabbing an arrow from his quiver slowly as it slowly sunk in just what he was doing. If he was lucky, he could run… Grab Maude and Farrah, get on Cabuck and escape and never come back. Just stay in Ordon… Stay in Ordon and never come out again. But he was too damn proud to do that. He would string his bow, accepting almost unconsciously what he was about to do... The Royal Family, Leon's group, would be greeted by the monsters soon after as a Moblin, flocked by two Bokoblins, would let out a cry, brandishing their weapons as they moved in for the surprise attack... THWACK! The moblin would be struck in the back of the head, the arrow piercing through it's skull, and downing it with a quick, lucky shot. The Bokoblins would stop, turning around to see what had struck down their larger cousin, brandishing their clubs as they let out an angry cry as they would change target and charge toward - Josh. Josh's eyes were fierce, determined... There was a fire in his eyes like there hadn't been in years, adrenaline ran through his veins as he felt a feeling that he couldn't describe, like part of him had been awakened that had been dormant for so long. Josh would string his bow again, jumping back with quick reflexes and surprising agility for a man his height and muscular build as he would fire, the shot striking the first Bokoblin on the side and knocking it off balance, before a stringing and a second shot would strike it clear in the center - bullseye. The first Bokoblin went down, and the second would charge him from melee distance. This bokoblin was much more powerful then it's brother, and it's club was spiked to signify the power and rank gap. It would bring it's club down and Josh would be forced to brace himself using his bow, when... The shot would snap his bow in two. Josh would hit the ground, staring at his bow wide-eyed, as the adrenaline began to fade away... He'd bought that bow when he had wanted to begin hunting a year ago. And every kill, he would cut a notch on it. And yet... Now the bow was in splinters. And with it... His chances of survival. And his chances of finding and saving Maude and Farrah... As the club would come down again, Josh would in a last ditch effort stab the splintered bow right to the Bokoblin's midsection before it could finish him off. The Bokoblin would let out a scream in pain, and Josh would stash the remains of his bow in his pouch before managing to grab the club that it had dropped, and stabbing one of the spikes into the Bokoblin's head, downing it down for the count. Josh looked around, now without a proper weapon. The clubs weren't something he knew how to use, but he'd grab it if forced to... For a moment, he scanned the battlefield, and in that moment, his eyes met blue. Icy blue. Maude. He had been moments from calling out to her when the stampede of people would knock her to the ground, Josh would begin to make his way toward her in a hurry, when something horrifying would stop him dead. One of the Moblins had brought it's club down on Maude's leg. The sound that it made, it was clear just what it had done... Maude's leg was likely broken, that thing... That thing had potentially crippled his Maude... His eyes were wide, his brown pupils shrunk with horror. It hurt his Maude... "Ah-ah-ah.... Y-you..." His brows began to furrow into a hard scowl as the Moblin would raise it's club to finish the job. His left hand would begin to emit heat, and his right hand would move to the sheathe of Dragelix... He didn't care anymore, didn't care about the risk, some force inside of him drove him to draw that blade in battle for the first time in many a year... His eyes solely transfixed on the source of his rapidly rising fury... The Moblin that had hurt his Maude. All he could see for a moment was a burning carriage... A Moblin spear going through someone that he cherished... And seeing the same thing again, and again, and again... And finally, seeing Maude with her bum leg, with the Moblin overhead, club ready... No... He wouldn't allow it to happen again. "YOU BASTARD!" There was a fire in his eyes unlike anything he had ever experienced in his life, his irises almost as though they tinted a brighter red in that moment - and his left hand would erupt in burning hot flames as he would charge toward the Moblin, taking it by surprise as for the first time in a very long time he would swing Dragelix, his father's blade... Now his blade... With the intent to kill. "YOU'LL PAY!" The blade would slash through the Moblin's side, and it let out a pain and enraged cry but was unable to counterattack as the Hylian would strike again in quick succession as he would slash across it's torso, doubling the Moblin over in time to receive a hard, fire-encased slug to the jaw, and another one for good measure right after followed by a spinning kick right to it's open mouth that knocked several Moblin fangs out, as it would spit out blood from the overwhelming pain caused by the repeated strikes that it's body couldn't keep up with. The next slash would reach it's shoulder, and the Moblin came down to Josh's height, pig-mouth wide open as much as it's evil eyes. Josh would catch it, with his left hand palm outstretched and open in front of it's open mouth as pyrokinetic energy would begin to build up... "DIE!" A large fireball would be charged up, and be launched right into the gaping maw of the Moblin, the blast hitting point blank and frying the Moblin's insides as the fireball would explode in it's mouth, sending the Moblin flying and crashing into a wall, falling limp as it would hit the ground before disappearing into a cloud of darkness, as many of these monsters did upon death... Josh would find Maude in the mess of it all, but his fierce, enraged gaze didn't cease even when he found her. He stared for a fleeting moment, before managing to pick out Farrah Abad in all of this. He would yell out to Farrah, in a commanding, fierce tone. "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GET HER TO SAFETY AND HEAL HER WOUNDS! NOW!" After barking that command at Farrah, knowing she was a healer and Maude would be in good hands with her, Josh would turn toward where more of the monsters were converging... His grip on the handle of Dragelix tightened. It felt damn good to be on the battlefield again... It was a shame that in this instance, the last thing he could do was enjoy it. No... Here, all he felt was pure rage, hatred toward these monsters for what they had done to these innocent people... And what they had done to his Maude. And they would pay severely. OOC: You just did the last thing you ever want to do... And the last thing you'll ever do.
