Honestly, this dancing thing was almost dull? Once you go the hang of it.... it was just stepping in circles, but Maude supposed it wasn't really the dance that made it nice. No, it was the little pushes that put her back on balance and the little smirks between glance. A dance was made by your partner and Maude certainly made a good one. If the music had given her the chance, she probably would have pulled him back and keep going just for the excuse to keep him close. But the night seemed to be moving on without giving her the chance, so she just pulled him in for a better kiss than the little peck he tried to leave with. He should know better by now, really. Maude could be a pain, but one way or another she tried to make it up to him. She loved him dearly after all.
She smiled and nodded as he talked without really listening. She could certainly go for another drink and would she make this a habit? What? Did he mean dance again? Well of course she wanted to do this again! This was nice! and she wanted to get better at it and learn how to do all the more complicated things she saw people do! and she was sure they wouldn't be as easy as she thought they would be based on this experience, but still! "You know, I think we m-"
"MAUDE"
"-ight?" Maude barely had time to register the voice or turn to see it's source before something short collided with her leg. "Goddesses!" Shock "What in the?" Confusion "Farrah?" Realization "Farrah!" Indignation "Farrah." Acceptance. It only took a few moments for her to run through the list. She was used to the child just popping up places, but honestly, why couldn't she ever just start with a hello? Maude lifted her daughter into a proper hug. "I see you, Farrah. You look nice. Cute. I might just steal you away from myself." Look, Maude could be playful. She wasn't completely void of a sense of humor. "Maybe we can have a dance together. You'd like that, right?" She was fairly confident she knew the answer. The first Farrah did was teach her to dance and Maude had only ever heard about dancing from the child since. But hey, Maue just learned to dance decently and enjoyed it. She might as well share a song with her daughter too.
For a few moments she didn't bother turning to Farrah's friend. She was too busy being happy to see her daughter, but fittingly enough she started to hear the other girl talk right at about the word "girlfriend." She swore she just solved this problem with Josh and other girls. The world shouldn't test her non-violentness tonight. Her resolve wasn't very strong.
"Sorry to ignore you, ma’am.” She dipped her head at the woman. “I've heard a lot about you from Farrah. You must be a wonderful mother!”
And suddenly Maude's hold on Farrah would tighten, tighten beyond the usual hugs Maude gave, and it would slowly keep tightening as Tally continued to talk and move and be here and look...
We all knew who Tally looked like. We all knew that she had the same stature, that she had the same mannerisms, the same voice, the same face, and we all knew that it wasn't really her. Tally was a different person, but for a little moment.... Maude had gotten her hopes up.
Once she realized she might be holding her daughter a little too affectionately, she let the girl go. She didn't want to hurt the poor thing. Even though Maue was beyond her initial reaction she still started to stutter and stumble a bit, trying to catch herself after losing her thoughts for a moment. "o-oh uh hello er th-thank you? uh hi? uh...." Nailed it.
......ok she realized this was a different person who merely looked like.... well you know who, but..... she was really very similar. Goddesses, was she starting to stare? Damn it, that was rude. Maude don't be rude! Can't you talk to anyone right!? Look at.... Look at something else! Look at Farra-or no! Look the presenter! That's a thing people are looking ok! "N-nice to meet you?" J-just keep it all casual. Everything was ok, ok!?
