Ulrich grinned upon the motley and rather star-studded crew that fate had bid to intertwine together!
Here there was the King of Hyrule, the Crimson Shadow Princess, The Heiress of the Zoran Empire, an introverted ninja grave keeper, a wolf-toting wilderness bumpkin, and a rather bold Keaton, with many guards mixed into this mess.
The Salesman sat up and leaned on his leg.
"Kufufufu... some excellent questions, class." He would address each of them as they came. First, @vladimir .
"For context to the rest of you who don't know, Ursula and I are intertwined in body, soul, and spirit. Whatever happens to her happens to me, and vice versa. Keh..." he swallowed hard,
"... so, find her as soon as possible and make sure she doesn't die in the process, capiche?"Next,
Rularu Groupan .
"Mmmrr... according to my sources, they're accumulating thousands of monsters by the main entrance hall. If anything, you'll want to avoid going anywhere near there--and I mean it! I don't care if you think you're all that with your magic and silly little retinues--the moment the horde realizes you're there, you're likely going to get swarmed." He rubbed his nose,
"... Other than that, I hear that plenty of undead stalk the corridors. Nothing special, just the spirits of mass murderers and dark-hearted scoundrels!"
Finally,
Leon El Hyrule , with an irritable swing of an arm in the air,
"It's UL-RICH! Like what I could've been if I had been compensated in advance! Hmph! Those maps may help you for a little while, but this place is cursed enough that they say whole floors like to move around on their own!"He shrugged his shoulders emphatically, then pulled his backpack around.
"Now... here's the thing..." Ulrich glanced up to the Keaton,
Revyn , and Vladimir.
"... A little bird told me that some of you have the natural intuition to see spirits.' That will come in handy when you're dealing what's in there, but for the rest of you--"The man pulled three animal-themed masks from his bag.
"Oh! Shoot! Kuhahaha! I thought that I had prepared adequately for this, but I suppose I didn't expect that we'd be bringing paparrazi to sneak around the interior of a claustrophobic dungeon!" He flicked his wrist and threw a mask to Leon, Rularu, and
The Hound (regardless if she were ready for it). He glanced to
Marianne de Hyrule and merely grinned--she had
that one already.
"I suppose the rest of your entourage COULD go inside, but I'm afraid that they're likely to fall prey to the wrath of the often invisible, ectoplasmic scum that stalks the hallways. I highly recommend that you pick only ONE of your companions if you're so inclined to bring someone with you. Think about your weaknesses and try to compensate for them, hm?"He pulled one last mask, shaped like a fox, from his bag and put it over his face.
"Anyway! The masks I've given you are Masks of Truth, and they allow you to see things that the naked eye has been blessed not to see! However, they have a nasty habit of using your magic, and I found that even I, great as I think myself to be, cannot use my magic while wearing it. It's a give or take kind of thing--still fine-tuning the enchantments and all."Now, to business. Ulrich removed his mask and threw it back into his bag.
"So, that ostentatious distraction over yonder-" he motioned to the battleground where the armies clashed,
'-Has given us the opening we need, so let's mosey on down, shall we?" With that, he leaped over the dune and slid down in the direction of the prison walls...
--------------
At the bottom of the dune, they stood before several huge, patchwork tents that the monsters had set up for camp, stripped logs utilized as gigantic poles, with stretched leather patched out of various beasts and pilfered cloth for shade. There were numerous kinds of garbage strewn about the cooled sand beneath, most notably, the indentations of where monsters had lain or stepped around.
It was clear that the entire camp was quickly abandoned when the fighting broke out.
Ulrich peeked hither and thither as they got closer to the dungeon wall, and, eventually, they came upon a small clearing where a boulder nestled against the side of the wall.
"Huh, that's odd," Ulrich murmured,
"I wonder where my other assistant went? No matter! There's plenty of hands on deck!" He motioned toward the boulder,
"Behind this piece of rock is our entrance. Considering the fragility of my existence, I submit that our better-built members roll it aside!"------------
Important Notes for tl;dr
Ulrich noted that the dungeon is too small for the main party to bring all their companions (NPCs). He has recommended that they pick one guard from their company to cover weaknesses.
Ulrich gave characters who cannot innately spot intangible things a Mask of Truth. These characters are Leon, Rularu, and Vanya. Marianne already possesses a Mask of Truth from a previous encounter.
The Mask of Truth will allow characters to see intangible objects. However, they must be taken off before characters can use any magic.
The team made it to the side of the prison and must remove a boulder blocking the entrance.
