Vlad watched Ursula until she looked to Selene, then found something else in the yard to look at, fingers still playing with the hem of his pants as, oh look, a bird. That was marginally more interesting than trying to process what the fuck he had actually gotten his self into.

You hit one hypocritical asshole that shoved you first and now you're in debt to some random lady that you're pretty sure just said she was going to go crazy while sitting next to some missing princess or some shit? No no. He'd unpack this shit later when he was alone.

Free hand to the back of his neck, rubbing the short hair there, he had nothing to say, and continued waiting on in silence.

As time had passed, Selene seemed to calm down. She still very much wanted to see the portrait, and she just had to trust that Ursula would show her. The castle was a maze, and Selene would surely get lost. Though would she be able to sit still while she waited? Her eyes passed over the room and settled on Vladimir for a moment. It saddened her to know he had been involved in so much of this. In the end, none of this would have happened if Selene hadn't kept her mouth shut. It was a guilt she'd carry for a while.

Selene sighed and tried to settle into her chair. "I apologize for repeating, Lady von Brandt, but... We're going to be living in the castle for two weeks? So you can keep an... eye on us?" She just wanted to be sure of their terms. "What... exactly are we to do?"

The castle?

Ursula waved her hand, "I merely stated that: 'you will be under my custody for two weeks.' However, you will not be under my roof, nor the castle's. Custody simply means I watch you two for a while, however, I am only one person, and I will not be bothered with watching the two of you."

She held her hand out, and two tiny, impish figure crawled from her sleeve. The little creature flew into the air with a yip and landed upon their shoulders.

"These... 'Impblins' will monitor you and report back to me every evening through mind link. I will always know where you are, so long as you keep them with you." She simpered, "Do keep in mind that even if they are small, they are highly resilient and are not so easily crushed." Her top eyelids lowered, "... But don't experiment with them, or build a relationship with them for that matter. They'll leave you after your two weeks are up, so please endure."

Ursula beckoned them to follow her, "Come then. Your Highness, I will now show you the portrait to prove your royal bloodline. Mr. Zaharie, you need endure me a while longer before I let you run into the wild." With that, she guided them back into the hallowed halls with Janette. They would go back down the hall where they came, but this time, Ursula took them down a hall with a number of past portraits of the Royal Family members lining the walls.

They did not have to go very far inside, of course...

Vlad's eyes narrowed some as he turned back to Ursula, still on edge and listening to her explain the custody. If not here or around people then how the hell were they going to keep an eye on the two of them. Vlad, unbeknownst to literally everyone but select few people, was a Sheikah, and a trained one. He'd just ninja away from normal people.

That was when she stuck her hand out, and some creature crawled from her sleeve, leapt into the air and while the creature was moving, Vlad, both startled reflexes and trained reflexes kicked in. His first stress reaction was to reach out and snatch the Imp mid air, grabbing the creature around the neck and torso, squeezing and breaking it's neck.

If it weren't for the back of the chair, he'd have likely jumped back as well, but instead he found his self also backed up onto the couch, a startled look in his eyes but his face simply focused, staring at where he dropped the imp.

Selene also still had questions in her mind about how they were to be under custody but not within the castle walls, when she heard the small yips and cries before she saw the creatures. The impblins popped out from Ursula's sleeves and one immediately jumped to Selene's shoulder and got itself tangled in her hair. Her instincts hadn't been as quick as Vlad's, but she was just as startled. The imp's forked appendages grew increasingly tangled as Selene jumped as a reaction. "G-Get out of my hair!" she screeched, finally grasping it around its small body. Unlike Vlad, though, she did not crush the daylights out of it...

She stared down at the small creature as she began to follow Ursula from the room. Anxiety began to build again and she almost had a mind to use this thing as another stress ball. They were finally going to see it. Her mother. If it really was her mother... It couldn't possibly be, right? Even as she lay dying, Selene's hand in her soft grasp, she did not ever reveal such a secret... But why? Why wouldn't she? There were so many questions whirling in her mind, and none of them were likely to ever be answered.

As they walked and followed, the imp started to settle down so Selene released it from her grasp. It finally was careful about its movements and made itself comfortable on her shoulder again, nestling against the crook of her neck. What a weird little creature... She couldn't help but smile softly at it. It at least had an oddly cute charm and helped her mind settle on nicer thoughts.

"Would you two calm yourselves?" Ursula sighed as she massaged the middle of her brow ridge, "Impblins are harmless and only serve the purpose of telling me you did nothing for me to regret. They only spy on bad behavior." The tutor had half the mind to slap Vladimir in the back of his head for his hair-brained reaction!

Janette hurriedly retrieved the crumpled body of the Impblin.

"Milady, it is dead. Shall I send it to...?"

The atmosphere around Ursula became dark as the woman stopped to turn around, and her very face looked sullen with shadow.

"Yes. Do not tempt me to regret helping you, Mr. Zaharie. You must receive one before you leave this place, and it must be alive in order to fulfill the custody order. If I notice again that it is dead, I will be the one you will have a problem with." She begrudgingly placed another Impblin on him, "I hand-bred these creatures, ergo, you will do well to take care of it."

Overcautious and high-strung. He needs to get out of Hyrule Town before he sullies my name with more thoughtless actions.

Despite her soured mood, she continued to guide them down the lane of portraits until, finally, Ursula stopped before one.

Upon seeing it, Ursula's expression softened, and she turned toward the two.

"Here it is... the portrait of Princess Theia de Hyrule."

Her hand opened toward the portrait, and she inclined her head.

Vlad took a breath and hopped down from his impromptu perch, watching the maid leave before shaking his head. Ursula looked darker but a part of him wasn't put off by shadows, rather just the mounting stress. "Well maybe don't surprise people with tiny objects, creatures." That to Vlad, looked suspiciously like a weapon to his mind, but his mind was also regressing. He couldn't take being startled anymore or he was going to officially lose it from the mounting stress. He'd also likely regret quashing an innocent creature later when, once again, he got to sit down and unpack the numerous things continuously being filed into the back of his head.

He started to itch again, surrounded by people for too long. Too unfamiliar in an unfamiliar place in stressful and very unfamiliar circumstances. Reaching up, he scratched incessantly at his neck for a little bit as he followed them. He wasn't really paying attention to them, and subconsciously came to a full halt when they did.

He allowed the Impblin to sit in his shirt pocket as he scratched and picked at the bandages around his hands. His mind wasn't with them as they spoke of whatever it was they were speaking of. His brain immediately packed the portrait straight to the back as he continuously regressed. He hasn't been this stressed since the attack on... who?

His brain just went backwards, and to them, it'd look like he was just staring at the opposite wall, maybe admiring the handiwork or something who knew. He let his brain run wild trying to wrap the smell of burning flesh in his memories back up to tuck them down.

The young Hylian woman was quiet as she followed Ursula through the long, tall corridors of the castle. It was an overwhelming place to be, and she was thankful to have a guide. She let her eyes sweep over golden artifacts, displayed atop marbled pillars. There were lots of portraits and paintings of beautiful scenery to look at as well. However, they had finally entered an area that seemed a bit more... important than the rest. Selene didn't know the layout of a castle at all, but she could tell they had moved to a more private, closed off chamber.

She almost didn't want to look up. But after she dared her eyes to move upward to follow Ursula's hand, she immediately felt a sting in her chest.

"That's..." she whispered as tears brimmed in her eyes.

A painting made of vividly colored oils with details so intricate it was like looking in a mirror, stood tall and beautiful against the wall before Selene. A hand reached out as if to touch, but she stopped before her fingertips made contact. A lovely young woman with a regal staff and a soft smile was the subject matter of the portrait. Beneath, on a golden lable, was indeed, the name "Theia de Hyrule." Yet Selene only ever knew of her mother as Merrows...

She swiped her eyes with the back of her hand to wipe away the tears. "She looks... so young," she finally said, forcing a light smile. "So beautiful... She was really a Princess?"

It was still a lot to take in...

“Indeed,” she replied with a nod, “Princess Theia always had a loveliness about her. Eloquent in speech, but fiery in spirit... and a little rambunctious of heart.” Her eyes gravitated between Selene and the image of Theia, and for a moment, she felt a sense of sorrowful nostalgia. Yes, for the briefest of time, she saw her old friend standing before the image of herself, talking to her about the things adventurers do and desiring to explore the world one day.

The memory brought a gentle grin to the tutor’s face.

Ursula bent her knee to curtsy, and her maid followed suit. The Impblins, realizing that they stood before royalty, prompted to bow their tiny bodies as well.

Then, the tutor spoke, “I am not worthy of this moment, yet it must be said:

Princess Selene de Hyrule, on behalf of Hyrule City, I welcome you home.”

Someone else knew her mother... Someone else could share in her stories. Ursula would have stories Selene would not know, and Selene too would have other memories to share. Home... Would Selene really be able to call this home? With a deep breath, she steadied her breathing and seemed to dry her eyes once and for all. A light smile rest on her lips, a pleasant change from before.

"What happens now?" she asked simply. Would she need to meet with the rest of the family? Would she... live in the castle? Would she have to leave Josh behind? She had so many questions, yet she knew... all would be revealed in time.

Ergo, for the time being, consider yourself under my protection until then.” A grin crossed her face, “The Impblin will notify me of any dangers that may encroach you. After the observation time is up, you may choose to keep the Impblin as to notify me of any trouble you run into.”

Her eyes went to Vladimir, “… The same goes for you. I do wish none of this had happened--yet they did, and we cannot change that.” And, ironically, she wouldn’t want to. ”Hmph, and I am certain you can handle worse stresses than this. You have a heart of courage and the wind is at your back, do not forget that.”

With that, she beckoned them to follow after her, “Come. Your Highness, I will see you to where you are staying for the evening. Mr. Zaharie, I will book an expedient carriage for you to return to Kakariko Village comfortably.”

And so she would.
