Hyrule is a big place, with many things to do, and many roles and occupations to fill. Of course, entering the land of Hyrule can be daunting when making a character, so we're here to give you some ideas of what you may want to do! If you happen to choose an occupation outside of this list, feel free to suggest it and we'll add it to the list!
[attr="class","section"]Combat
Military - Settlements under the Royal Family, the Domain of the Zora and the territory of the Goron Tribe each have their own military entities with their own unique structures depending on who they belong to. Those who wish to protect their home and its people, or who desire a warrior's glory, will typically enlist into service.
Adventurers and Sellswords - Finding no appeal in being tied down, many take to travelling the world in search of adventure, glory and treasure. Many combatants will offer their swords for hire to make a living, whether that be doing odd jobs, or providing security. Some clients though, are looking for someone to handle jobs of a more unsavory nature.
Bounty Hunter - Some also take up careers as bounty hunters, hunting down the worst scum and villainy in Hyrule.
Detective - Hyrule's military can't be everywhere, leaving many mysteries unsolved. Perhaps the people need and deserve a local detective to solve some of these cases? Of course, this often comes with encountering dangerous criminals, so make sure you know your way around a fight.
Gravekeeper - The remains of the lost lie in graveyards, but someone needs to tend to these burial grounds to respect those who have fallen. Gravekeepers work the night shift, keeping things spiff, and protecting it from grave robbers. Of course, they at times do have to deal with their share of Poes, so some combat experience is a must...

Merchant - Food, items, weapons, and armor. Everything can be bought with the right amount of Rupees. Some merchants travel, while others have stalls or their own buildings. Some even run their own business chains.
Looking for examples of what you could sell?
- Well, there is adventuring equipment like lanterns and bombs.
- Fletchers are an archer's best buddy when they need an arrow guy.
- Some charming rogues double as Locksmiths who make great locks but also know a thing or two about picking them.
- Tailors and Dressmakers weave the tapestry of today's fashion.
- Innovation is the bread and butter of progress. Enterprising Inventors are needed to ensure Hyrule's continued evolution.
[attr="class","section"]Services
Services can be offered for rupees as well!
- There is always a need for an inn within the different settlements and on the road for those who need a place to sleep.
- A combat instructor can make good money from running a dojo as well.
- Those that need to relax may look for one of Kakariko's local hot springs or a massage parlor...
- Or even a drink or two at the local bar or tavern.
- Hyrule is built and upkept by its tradesmen. Fulfilling many different functions, they keep Hyrule's structure and economy strong. In any settlement, buildings for almost every function need to be built. Carpenters make their living building the framework for civilizations across Hyrule.
- You may hear of magical, mythical blades of legend, but most blades and armor hold their origins in your local forge. And someone needs to forge them. Whether they are under employ or run their own business, Blacksmiths are the the best friend of any combat class. But not every blacksmith just starts out churning out quality blades. Apprenticing under a licensed blacksmith, Apprentices learn the trade so they may one day become fully fledged blacksmiths themselves.
- Need a ride? Whether by land, air by sea, Drivers are a must if you can't traverse to every part of Hyrule by yourself. Some drive carriages, others run boats, and most recently, Arkwright Enterprises have begun offering airships for those looking to reach the Sky Province.
[attr="class","section"]Roles
School Teacher - Every educational institution needs its educators. And what better way to spend a career than to prepare the future of this world for all that is to come? Whether that be basic education in a local settlement, or serving as a magic professor in Hyrule's University of Magic, Hyrule's future is in your hands.
Postman - Wherever you may go, wherever you may live, they will be there! When mail needs to be delivered, the Postmen of Hyrule will rush to deliver them at top speed!
Healer - Anywhere can be dangerous in this day and age. Having a healer handy can save lives.
Attendant - Wealthy and royal families alike need attendants for a variety of reasons. Whether that be to wait on them hand and foot, or to keep their properties clean.
Stablemasters and Stablehands - Running your own stable service requires a steady hand and a way with animals. But it can be a decent way to make money from people who wish to have their horses stay somewhere warm with proper food, water, and shelter while they conduct their business. And for those who love horses? Stablemasters need Stablehands of sound quality to keep these horses in line, and well taken care of.
[attr="class","section"]Living Off The Land
Farmer/Rancher - Living off the land, farms and ranches can be found across Hyrule, especially in Ordon Village. The agriculture of Hyrule depends on these hard-working folks for much of their food, whether that be from raising crops or livestock. Those that aspire to one day start a business themselves will typically find themselves starting out as Farmhands to gain experience and earn the needed rupees.
Hunter - Hunters live off the land in their own way. Hunting and trapping animals, they use their skins and meats for food and clothing, oftentimes selling their goods for profit.
Fisherman - Fish are a favorite dish for many, giving plenty of opportunity for those that have the patience for it to spend their days at Hyrule's rivers and lakes.
[attr="class","section"]Research

- For the local Astronomer, there are many wonders in the wind, past the stars, even whizzing right by your ear. Whether with large telescopes or other equipment, astronomers are always looking to see what they can discover up there. Perhaps constellations? Or even another planet!

Musicians - When the humble bard graced a ride along... Well, the rest of that song is up to you. Music can entertain a room, or bring hope to those who need it. Musicians, whether they be alone or in a trope, wield a variety of instruments or even sing, in order to bring the gift of music to Hyrule's people.
