The black fish took their hand and held it firmly until they released it. He crossed his arms once more, letting hid heafindssettle somewhat again. He did not fully close them while in the water as it helped him "hear" his surroundings, feel when things moved. It helped a great deal being half blind. It was difficult to tell he couldn't see out of one eye as he has compensated for it over time. He geinned, right eye pinching closed. His sharp fangs lined up quite nicely. He was a generally healthy male, but there were some signs he had was possibly -- unwell. Perhaps it was his thinness? Regardless…
"Yes, you are correct. It is my family's profession. My cousin, who is normally our household's bookkeeper, is away on business so I need someone reliable and capale whilst he is gone, someone I can keep close." The white fish couldn't run away… where would it go? "Though currently I have been placed in a leadership role that requires competent Zora at the helm," he motioned back to the idiot trio, one having got a a crab caught on his headfin, the other two laughing uproariously. "Muscle is nice, but brains…" he motioned his webbed hand dismissively over his face, a sneer painting it. "Not to detract from the point, but your hiding could also create… misunderstanding. If you come to help in more public matters, your skills would be praised and perhaps…" well that was an interesting side thought from him.
Were there other white Zora? Perhaps he could collect them. It would be something he never had in his collextion. Whilst a merchant and bound to sell, buy, and trade he was also quite the hoarder. Varily he was unable to deny Anastasia's rarity and covet the uniqueness. Plus literacy was nice to have handy. Better to have useful allies than worthless enemies.
"We can sit together and write a proper contract that will bind you from any unfair treatment, or unsolicited release from service without compensation." His words alone was proof he was of a mercantile house. They were obsessed with contracts and having everything in its place. Records were inportant. "I was actually born in the Castle River, but was raised in my father's territory." It wasn't uncommon for Zora to be laid and hatched one place and migrate to where their families gathered. "I suppose you can say I came back to get what was owed to me after all these years." He perhaps visited on and off. Merchants did travel.
