Free in Chains but the weather is nice! // Phoebe

Malik rubbed the stubble that grew along his chin, riding along easily as he stared off towards the horizon where some explosion had gone off and... well despite himself, as he was turning to go check it out, he heard more rumbling. Narrowing his eyes he- he knew that noise. He furrowed his eyebrows and pulled on his horse's reigns.

Just as he was about to ride off, he did a double take back towards the hill. He thought he had saw- well if he didn't see it, he definitely heard it. There was some girl running from a stampede furiously and both eyes, despite one being blind, went wide. With a grunt, he leaned forward, gave his horse one last hearty pat and kicked the large beast's sides, rushing it into a gallop as he drove him on to catch up to the girl.

She seemed panic, and he knew this was dangerous but he couldn't just leave her to end up dead. So as he rode towards her, thick legs holding onto his horse as he silently ushered the beast, a massive hand reached down towards the girl, aiming to snatch her by the arm and pull her into the saddle.

Mal had easily lifted the girl into the saddle in front of him, and made sure she wouldn't fall as he reached forward to grasp the reign in both hands. Looking over his shoulder, a wave of tension momentarily shook through his body. Was that... No. He'd seen that in the desert on a few creatures, he knows for sure he has.

He didn't need her to tell him to avoid towns and cities and he gave her a nod, another hand once again reaching down to pat his horse on the neck as he pressed his heels into his sides once again, spurring him into a sprint. His horse could go for a while, obviously, with it's size and stamina, and Mal would have to be sure he got a bath, some good oats and all the pets in the world for this.

His horse was wide, but also tall, so it made easily work of clearing a line of brush as they headed closer into the wilderness, granted, trees were going to slow him down some, but the beasts behind him weren't as tall as his horse, couldn't make easy work of the brush lines that broke into a larger clearing.

Mal watched the trees go by, easily leaning with his horse and he rode atop the great beast. Lots of practice being on the run taught him and his loyal steed how to go and do so great agility. At least, it was easy when compared to a boar, for a horse to be much more agile, regardless of size. But even then, he couldn't shake every single boar, and the clearing they came into would only prove too difficult for his horse if the trees across it had anything to say about it. The foliage was much more dense and stretched on.

He took the long reigns and took ahold of Phoebe, doing his best to make sure he pressed the reins into her hands before he jumped off the back of his own horse with a little push to put him in the air. He couldn't give her a verbal warning, he was unable to, and he didn't know quite enough magic so he had to settle for using his size and weight.

Landing on the ground, he easily turned and put himself into a sturdy chance, waiting for the boar to come close enough that he'd be able to grasp it by it's tusks and attempt to wrench it to the side. As for Phoebe on horseback while he wrestled with the boar, while it was clear to Mal that she might not have much experience on a horse and his horse was big, the horse was still easy to control and calm as it started to slow, looking around the clearing.

Malik let out his own, soft, exerted grunt, focused now on the corrupted boar in his hands. Something had changed it, made it more aggressive, but Malik wasn't going to back down when cornered. He never backed down anyways! The large Gerudo only strengthened his grip on the boar, setting his shoulders and digging his feet into the dirt below him.

All he need was for the boar to give one way or another and he could put it on it's side. Buckling down he twisted the boar's head one way, using the tusks to try to control the head and jerk the boar towards his left. Why would he want to use his blind side?

While he focused on the boar, only a small part of him recognized that... the poor woman on his horse was probably having a hell of a time. She wasn't used to him, didn't know he was blind, didn't know that he couldn't speak, didn't know nothing. He'd have to make sure to find a way to apologize at some point. But first, this damn boar.

Suddenly, the woman got involved! Malik's eyes widened, granted the non-blind one more than the other but he kept his stance with the boar, up until she was bucked off and the boar's tusks nearly wrenched from his grip. He refused to lose his grip though and only bore down upon the beast, jerking it's head to his strong side and lifting the boar.

He was a quiet man, but even as the massive Gerudo moved the just as large boar, he let out a growl of exertion before managing to lift it from the ground and toss it to the side where it hit the ground with a heavy thud, flailing wildly before standing back up and deciding to fuck off.

The boar left, dazed from the throw and with a sore neck. Mal stood there for a moment, watching the boar before taking a deep breath, turning to look at girl he had quite literally snatched up from the ground earlier, using his face to communicate, he gave her a slightly worried look, a silent question of if she was ok.

His expressions were hard to read, he knew that much, so he didn't expect her to be able to outright understand what he was trying to say with his face, but either way, he smiled at her grinning and allowed her to take his wrist in her average-but-small-to-him hands and watched them closely. A small look of shock took his expression for a little bit but he soon relaxed into it, recognizing the magic, having felt it numerous times growing up from his relatives.

It felt good, feeling the strain in his shoulders, arms and chest fade away with the warmth. That Bulbos was large and strong, it wasn't often he grappled with things that were the same size as him. But his mind couldn't wander far, she cleared her throat and his sensitive ears picked up on it, his eyes moving from his wrist to her. He nodded at the thanks but waved his hand slightly at her own hand waving, mimicking her body language before bringing a hand to his chest and shaking his head. A silent 'don't worry about owing me', in his own 'words'.

But then she held her hand and asked his name. Right. Speaking, something he didn't do often. His face darkened from anxiety at the thought that he'd have to talk to- no wait, he had his note pad with him! Holding up a hand to her, he stepped away from her to go to his horse, who was walking over to meet him half way. It didn't take him long to dig through one of the saddle bags to pull free a pad of parchment and something to write with.

He considered for a moment if he should write down his name but... he was an honest man. As dangerous as it was for him to offer his name, he didn't rightly have a nickname and didn't like lying to people more than he had to. Making a face, he scratched out his name on paper and held it facing her. 'Nice to meet you phoebie, Malik Synhassa'
