the character
> Appearance <
Peggy is a tall Goron of generous proportions but monstrous strength and stability. She has a dense, shaggy, and untamable mane of hair that is more akin in texture to flexible iron strands than silk. Her clothing consists of a promotional robe for the Goron Hot Springs, while sitting on her head is a thick cast-iron cooking pot. Despite having the signature rock-like skin and musculature of a Goron, mostly due to her frequenting the hot springs every evening, she is softer than she looks.
Just don’t get head-butted by her—or slapped by a full-force open palm... non-Gorons might die, if not receive a terrible concussion.
Additionally, there is a rumor that Pegoro has a top-notch singing voice, but if there is anything she is shy about, it's being asked to sing.
= Personality =
> Gentle: While not the most sophisticated of Gorons, Peggy knows how to control her strength.
> Generous: Even in times of want, Peggy has been known to give generously to others who have less than she.
> Considerate: Peggy prefers to stay out of other people’s way as much as she can.
> Protective: Few in Peggy’s world are granted the powerful shelter found behind her stalwart and nearly immovable self.
> Thoughtful: Unlike many Gorons who speak with their fists, Peggy is quicker to hear another’s words than to speak her own mind. She often tests new ideas against ones she has been taught as a child.
> Relaxed: Peggy likes to live a simple life and is more liable to watch the world pass her by… at least, until a certain point.
> Patient: Peggy is willing to take her time with something if it'll benefit someone.
> Apologetic: Peggy is often the first to apologize for anything she clearly knows she is the cause of.
< Self-Conscious: Working around and with the denizens of Kakariko has made Peggy a little more aware of herself than she ought. She is awkward in smaller spaces and tries her best not to be in other people’s way.
< Blunt: It is natural course for most Gorons to not to be very subtle with their words, but it is considered a very “down-to-earth” mindset that many of Peggy’s people understand.
< Stubborn: Don't tell Peggy she can't do something! She's liable to try it out due to her pride as a Goron!
+ History +
Aside from learning sumo and other various martial arts from Chief Solveig, Pegoro lived a rather easy life for a Goron. She ate, she slept, played with children, and enjoyed soaking in the hot springs of Death Mountain. For a time, Pegoro was complacent with the events of the world, that is, until the Battle of Eldin came to their doorstep. There wasn’t so much chaos as there was a rallying cry to face the enemy head on, but fear gripped the Goron. War was not something she desired to partake in, and in her cowardice, she stayed behind.
Even so, a small dispatch of monsters snuck into the city while the main force was away, with intention to kill as many Gorons as they could. However, the first Gorons they encountered was Pegoro, who had gone out of a bunker to retrieve a small group of children.
Without hesitation, Pegoro covered the children with her body and took the blows the monsters. The strikes were hard and fell upon her back without pause… that is, until their weapons eventually shattered, some even entangled in her hair. In that moment, Pegoro arose and began a heavy-handed onslaught that crushed hardened skulls and bones without mercy. After she had left the children in the shelter, she began to actively patrol the city with monster blood and guts yet on her knuckles. Confidence had been born in her moment, and she realized what she was truly capable of.
Eventually, the battle for Eldin was over and the remaining monsters were routed and dealt with. There were losses, yes, but ultimately, this battle was won. Kakariko needed to be rebuilt, and its people needed a place to relax after a hard day’s work.
Everyone knew that hot spring water had regenerative properties, yet a climb to the Death Mountain in an already exhausted state would prove more fatal than helpful. Seeing this, Pegoro decided to get to work on pounding out a hot spring channel to feed down to a pool in Kakariko Village, behind the Inn. It was a long and arduous project that took a month to complete, but in the end, the hot spring was built.
Sure, there were a few things that the villagers brought up that Pegoro had to quickly implement, but once a wall had been set up, the hot spring baths of Kakariko Village were open for business. Pegoro was placed as the owner and storefront face of the hot spring, but she knew that there were other people more capable than her to manage it.
A part of Pegoro desired to see what lay in the other provinces, maybe even see what Hyrule City was like, and perhaps promote the opening of the hot spring in the process!
