Zayne Zaharie
"The Nameless One"
"The Nameless One"
the basics
Full Name: Zayne Zavier Zaharie
Alias: Swamp-Shadow (Pre-curse), Howls-Upon-Peaks (Pre-curse), The Nameless One (Cursed), Bloody Beast of the West (Cursed),
Age: 25
Birthday: Winter 30th
Race: White Wolfos (Formerly Sheikah)
Occupation: Beast (Formerly Hired Blade)
Pronouns: He/They
School of Magic: Nayru (Formerly Farore)
Personality
Who he was and wasn't isn't exactly clear to himself, nor is it to anyone who doesn't know who he was before he became a beast. His personality is difficult to get a read on, as is, due to him being as closed off as he is. Locked in a constant struggle with madness and an inability to sleep due to it, he's very stand offish and grouchy. This means he doesn't trust, he rarely speaks and he is very much a loner.
He's typically collected when the madness isn't pulling too strongly at him, but that's not for most people to see. He will stalk the edges of blizzards and darkness to make sure they can't see him too clearly and that he isn't close enough that should he snap, he would add to his body count. Due to all the hunters having been sent after him though, this adds to his distrustful nature and he will not approach, even if he gets a gut feeling.
After all, that gut feeling could just be the beast telling him that it's hungry.
Appearance
As he is now, he's a very clearly 'unique' appearing Wolfos. Magic having altered not only him, but the appearance of the creature he become has placed a large target on his back. He's massive, white and the crystals growing off of him have taken on a deeper shade of blue than most other White Wolfos.
Like most Wolfos, he has a very wide maw that he can open up. But when it comes to his ears, they've much longer, laying against his thick mane near perfectly when they're at rest.
Not all of the ice is entirely solid too, along his head are three marks where a mixture of fur and ice take on a tendril like appearance.
History
Unknown to Zayne in his new form, he's a Terminian Sheikah, hired to take lives or even escort them if they pay well enough. He lived alone, in isolation for most days. Whatever happened to his father was a mystery to him, but living alone in the wilderness meant he couldn't stop to search for him. With his pack of Wolves and White Wolfos, Zayne lived very much alone.
One day, he was hired to take a life all the way in Hyrule. Typically an OK trip for Zayne to make, and as wary as ever, he waltzed into a trap he was all but prepared for. The man who hired Zayne knew what he was doing, and had wanted Zayne murdered as revenge. Thankfully for his life, the man didn't kill him as he saw no need to. Sadly for everything else about Zayne, the reason he saw no need to kill him was because he could be used as a statement, and what a statement he could make.
Magic is a complex beast, as are monsters and matter. Striking down his Wolf pack, he was easily able to trap and strap down Zayne, the Sheikah's greatsword lying in the snow too far away for him to reach. While he was strapped down is where Zayne is able to start recalling bits of what happened before he became a beast, what few memories are able to tell him that he isn't just a sentient monstrosity.
Ripping the Farore magic out of him the other mage was able to create a null void using Demise magic and when he twisted his form with the work of a little transmutation, alchemy and thaumaturgy, Nayru energy from his new Wolfos form was able to rush in and take over the null space.
Zayne was left in the cold where he was and that's when the nightmares began. He can't remember who he was, much less his name, but he does know that he's dangerous and shouldn't be approached, if his body count is to say anything. With his Greatsword now encased in ice along his cave, he stalks the edges of blizzards and darkness in Snowpeak to survive against what feels like an endless onslaught of hunters and 'warriors', and compete with the other monster life for what food there is.
Through deeds he will not mention unless you truly press him, he began to earn new names, such as "The Nameless One" and "Bloody Beast of the West."
Misc.
- Stargazer: Due to his sleeplessness, he counts the stars. Doesn't know much about them other than a number he's got going. It helps him feel a little bit more human.
- He was cursed as a statement to the person who sent him to kill the man. He was also twisted in appearance for unknown reasons. Zayne believes it's a sick joke to bring trophy hunters and soldiers down onto him.
- He absolutely can not stand puns
- If it wasn't obvious from above, he can't recall most of his former human state, from favorite food, to his day-to-day existence.
