stand tall my friend
May all of the dark deep inside you find light again
Selene was normally up before dawn and already on her chores for the day.
She was never known to slack off; even when it was raining, she still had a duty to deliver mail as a mailwoman! Even now, as she worked to repay Josh for letting her stay on his ranch, she was up in the fog, in the rain, in the wind. Sleeping in was uncharacteristic of her. And yet, that was all she felt like doing in that moment.
Or at least... That's what she wanted Josh to think!
Selene could hear the cuccoos outside, stirring and cooing and readying for the sun to rise. It had taken some convincing, but Josh had finally left her alone after she claimed she was feeling under the weather. There was some back and forth banter between them, since Josh most likely would want to help her out if she was sick, but she was able to get him out of the house. Contagious, may have been used. I don't want to get you sick. Or maybe even some girl problems were thrown around. Either way, she was now in a quiet house, and she had begun to devise her plan.
Saying she was sick wasn't a complete lie, either... As she set about, heading to the kitchen to prepare, her mind began to wander to... previous events. Could it really be? Her mother... The more she thought about it, the more nervous she grew. That's why she had to keep herself busy! Busy, busy, busy! Selene tied her hair back using a bandana and began to gather up the ingredients she had purchased at the market in the beginning of the week.
By the time she was finished, the sun was beaming through the window upon fresh, homemade food. She had sautéed some onions, mushrooms and garlic and set them aside. She seared cuccoo breasts until they were a dark color and crisp on the outside, and those were set aside. All the while, she began to boil some rice and make a rue with some fresh milk and flour. The vegetables were added to the rice and she mixed in the creamy sauce, all in a big dish. The cuccoo breasts were placed delicately on top and the whole thing placed into the oven to finish up.
Selene slumped herself in a chair, hoping all of that hard work would pay off in a nice lunch for Josh. He had done so much for her since she came back to Hyrule. Other than helping out, she didn't know what else to do for him... But a home cooked meal might help for something.
