GETTING WHAT YOU WANT CAN BE DANGEROUS
Ah, Hyrule Castle. The massive structure in the center of Hyrule, the one that towers over its domain as a statement of national pride, security, and power. The fortress dedicated to the protection of the Royal Family. Towers and spires crowned with blue roofs, gold trim, and ornamental statues devoted to the Goddesses. Truly, a more beautiful sight could not befall any citizen of Hyrule - except, perhaps, a visit from the Goddesses themselves.
In one of the towers in the central keep, located on the top floor, was an observatory. Charts upon charts filled the walls - depictions of moon cycles, constellations, notes, and more. Spread out on multiple desks were books, unfinished manuscripts, and even more notes about how the moon's position in the sky juxtaposed with what constellations were visible affected the growth cycle of different species all across Hyrule. Perhaps the world, but Pallin's focus was within the borders of the kingdom. This was his favorite spot to be. His spot, the one he worked for - the position he landed after years and years of hard work, constant focus, and an ambition. To advance the scientific discoveries of the Royals so that their citizens would all have access to a bright, richer future.
As a star gazer, Pallin is up all hours of the night. He learned a long time ago how to tell the time based on the moon's position in the sky - and it just so happened that the current time was somewhere around midnight. And he was hungry! He hadn't eaten since dinner time, and so he placed his materials down on the surface of his desk. He took a lantern with him, ignited the flame and proceeded out of the observatory down a spiral staircase. He entered a long hallway decorated with statues of knights, swords of famous soldiers from years' past, and paintings that spanned the entire height of the wall. Truly, it was a magnificent place. He never took the beauty for granted, even if his expression stayed the same most of the time. One of these days he would have to walk by during the day and study the paintings. Doing so by lantern light isn't the best way to view a painting.
It was then that he saw another faint glow followed by footsteps. It was his friend, or at least acquaintance, Chaska. He remembered their days in the Hidden Village - they were always in the same class, them being the same age. And now they were both members responsible for aiding the Royal Family!
"Hello Chaska, what keeps you up so late?" as if he didn't already know she was out on her evening patrol. But, conversation was never his strong suit.
