Home. It had been awhile since Dormagoro set foot near Goron City due to his time at Castle Town and a short stint as a guide around Death Mountain. However, his mood was soured by the state of surrounding land. Fissures had broken stone, lava wildly ran unimpeded and mountain itself had a fury that stirred just below the surface. Although, he could not dismiss the efforts his people had done to return their home to normalcy but like he often reminded himself, that took time. The young Goron sighed and stomped his way over towards the city until a familiar face crossed his path - the great Chief Solveig.[break][break]

Some time had passed since Dormagoro last saw the chief in person, which was during the aid of Kakariko Village. Since then, the chief and everyone else had been rather busy. "Hey, Chief. You lookin' rather calm. I can't tell if that's good or bad." The Goron stood off to the side with a cheery grin, despite where his thoughts were earlier. "Our guests managed to find their way back home safely. Heheh... Who would've thought the princess come all this way to see Dodongos. But don't worry, Chief! I managed to rid of the ugly beasts with our friends help. That should give the warriors some breathing room."

"Pfft. Nothing Dormagoro can't handle because I learned from the best!" The young Goron proudly stood and gave himself a quick thump on his chest with his fist. That much was true thanks to the years with the mine and sumo. However, the leather of his arm braces and heavy iron boots told another story. It was pretty obvious that Dormagoro haven't had a moment's rest but the big brute was too proud to admit he was tired. He just smiled through it all. "But I gotta say, Chief. Ever since the big kaboom, there's more monsters now than before. It's like they all woke up from a nap or something. Very odd." Of course, that premonition had never left Dormagoro as it sat uncomfortably in his gut. Perhaps it was his blood that reacted strongly to it or just the lack of nutrition but it was always there. He often wondered if the Chief felt it too.[break][break]

"Ahh, probably I'm thinkin' too hard on it." Dormagoro shrugged and sat down with a heavy thud. "We should welcome peace every chance we get." It was strange for the young warrior to say that since he was the Goron who often faced challenges greater than him. But, whenever he was in the presence of Chief Solveig, Dormagoro felt this tug to at least pick up on the wisdom he shared. It was true that today was rather tranquil despite all they been through and sometimes, he forgot to take a moment of respite. "The Chief is right. The sky is very blue!"

Dormagoro chuckled to himself when Chief Solveig mentioned a Hylian who managed to hurt themselves. "Heheh. I know that pain all too well. Very young and not so good with the hammer. But I was very good at the Patriarch's races! Sumo too!" The young Goron thought back on those times, when their existence seemed more peaceful than now. Of course, Dormagoro had dabbled in blacksmithing for a time but it never truly stuck. His warrior spirit had grew so much, it wouldn't be a surprise if his ancestors smiled upon his efforts. Truthfully, he just wanted to do his lineage proud in the service of his people, very much like the Chief himself. Solveig was a person he looked up to just as much as General Nogra.[break][break]

"Your family does good work, Chief. If only I were wise enough at the time to have Big Knife crafted by you. Not to say Big Brother Medigoron doesn't do good work but to see your forge at work." More thoughts went back to the time when he made the request for Medigoron, who often told his customers to come back another day for their crafted gear. Dormagoro often wondered if there was some secret that Medigoron chose not to share with his forge. "One day, when I have the money, I'll ask of your son to craft a giant hammer! Oh ho! Those lizards will shake in their place when they see it!"

The young Goron warrior thoroughly enjoyed the company of Chief Solveig. It definitely been awhile since they reminisced on days gone by and to hear that he spectated his wins when Dormagoro was a little rock, that made him happy. Of course, the Chief was always there for the people, even when times weren't so turbulent. But, big brute believed that was the nature of all things, with the good mixed in with the bad, which honed with abilities to withstand the malicious tides that conspired against them. He was just lucky that he had people he could depend on when things got rough, accompanied with the wisdom they shared. Then, the Chief asked of his little adventures, something of which was quite a surprise even to himself.[break][break]

"Oh boy. Where to start? Hahah! Well, Big Brother Nogra sent several warriors including myself to Castle Town to bolster their army but suddenly, a group of elders asked of Dormagoro to seek out this Hylian woman in the fields! I couldn't turn them down because that be wrong but whew it wasn't easy. The woman was headstrong, determined to find Fire Keese so we ventured into a cave. Things were going smoothly until I slipped on Keese poop then things went crazy! The Hylian woman had to seal off the cave and I used my rolling to breakout! Wuahahaha! Quite a dilemma." The young Goron scratched at his chin as he recalled every moment. "Next thing I know, the very same woman wanted to see Dodongos on behalf of her group and little did I know the princess was in her company! I got real nervous because I didn't know and harm to little Mari was not an option. But everything turned out a-okay! That little princess got some real strength to her and a very strong heart! The both of them actually! Hylians are interesting folk."[break][break]

"But everyday the Dodongos' numbers swell. Like the volcano woke up the bigger ones and now they prowl upon our mountain. This concerns me. What if the King Dodongo of the old stories awakens, Chief? There is so much happening right now. Trouble at the domain. Monsters run afoul in the fields of Hyrule. There are even whispers that a sickness has fallen upon the woods beyond our home." Dormagoro had a serious look plastered upon his face. He stared down to Kakariko Village, the image of raiding lizards burned into his mind as he watched. "We worked very hard to get here."

When he heard Chief Solveig speak, Dormagoro felt the embers within grow into a blazing storm, his blood surged with power, and his mind refocused on the strength of the Goron people. The Chief had that effect on people, especially his own and the lowly Goron warrior respected that because Solveig backed that talk with action. He had seen the big man fight to his very hardest and knew he was the Goron to follow. In fact, he was the inspiration to so many. So, riled up by the great Chief, Dormagoro jumped up to his feet and rose his fists into the air. "Yeah! Those puny lizards are no match for us! This mountain is ours!" He looked to his Chief with a mighty grin. "And I'll follow you, Chief. Together, our strength is unmatched!" With that being said, he hopped happily in place, fired up from the thought of battle - to rid of the creatures that terrorize their home. But he had to compose himself in the presence of Solveig, for Dormagoro was one to be easily carried away.[break][break]

And so, he stood beside Big Brother Solveig and thought about the elders. That was a big discussion for the tribe and rightfully so, since this sat heavily upon everyone's conscious. This was a meeting he wanted to attend despite being his first night home after so many days away. That didn't bother him at all, for the Goron warrior had a duty to his people. He will not allow failure on his part. "The Elders will heed our words. This is the right choice for all of us. Finding the source of this evil and squash it!"

It was good to spend time with the Chief and honestly done right with Dormagoro's spirit. He needed this talk, the reassurance that they will persevere against all odds. So the Goron stood proud, felt the heavy pat on his back and took up Solveig's offer for food. "Oh boy! I got the perfect recipe - a twist on a classic! Rock sirloin but with a kick! I've been working on it for days getting it right. The perfect blend of spices, technique and power. Trust me when I say it'll be the best eatin' you'll ever have, Chief!" His mouth dribbled a bit, his culinary talent sizzled his brain as he motioned the Chief to follow in a hurried fashion.[break][break]

The sun had set well behind Death Mountain, the sky shifted into warm glows of purple, pink and orange. Despite the rumbling within the mountain and the occasional bubble popped from the slow lava streams, the day was peaceful and such tranquility had carried well into the evening stars. Still, Goron City bustled with activity as the hammer struck hot, the white hot metals clanged across the night sky while travelers settled themselves at the open food stalls along their Goron hosts. Dormagoro missed home and all it had to offer but he wasn't ready to rest yet. There was another matter to attend to along with Chief Solveig - the meeting with elders. Big Bro Solveig said he was welcomed to listen in and with the present dangers on their mountain, Dormagoro couldn't pass up this important moment as he walked into the great circle hall. Many of the Big Brothers were in attendance, seated upon the raised level as they chattered among themselves. He also saw General Nogra alongside the elders, deep in conversation.[break][break]

Not waiting to stick out like a sore thumb, the young Goron made his way to Chief Solveig and stood by his side. "A lot of the Big Bros are here. Is there always this many people here, Chief?"

Dormagoro was obviously nervous as he fretted a bit, knuckles white as he balled them into huge fists. Alas, the young Goron was too prideful and quickly shook his head like a child would. "No way, Chief. This is important to the tribe. I gotta face it like any other Goron in this room." He huffed a bit, glad to have gotten that out and lessen the tension in his stomach. This was his very first meeting and like all the Brothers, he had to be strong and cool-headed. Everyone in attendance had this calm aura to them, including Chief Solveig who seemed to have mastered just a ability. Perhaps that was just their age showing, able to remain still as the water far beyond their land. He leaned close to the Chief, speaking low enough for him to hear. "I wish you luck, Chief. Help the elders see our struggle so we can put an end to the puny lizards."[break][break]

The Goron warrior said all that was needed to be said and sat quietly. He shifted himself upright again as the murmurs within the meeting hall died down into silence. It appeared as though it was time. Dormagoro couldn't wait to hear what the people had to say.
