I've seen a lot in this lifetime of mine
 | When she had returned and handed him the rupees, he would look them over, then smile briefly and place a peck on her forehead, without a word. He would wordlessly motion toward his work to re-do dinner, silently asking her to take over for him for a bit while he went to put the profit in their savings along with the rest, and make records in the ledger. Seeing as it was an outside of their usual profit, that meant he had to go make a record immediately or it'd get lost. Josh was adamant about being accurate when it came to their funds, when you owned a ranch you had to be. If they made too deep of a purchase without the proper funds, that meant either they or the animals wouldn't be able to eat, and he really didn't want that. Once he had made the record, Josh would return, placing a hand on Maude's shoulder. He would motion toward the food, silently offering to take over again. They had been together long enough, and knew each other well enough, that they could easily convey simple things like that in silence. But the fact was, why was he choosing to employ it so much now? Well, if she studied his face, she'd be able to see really, that beyond the smile, he was still clearly upset at her. Josh didn't hide his emotions well from Maude, after all. It was clear what she had said had stuck with him. He could put on a mask, but when it came to Maude, he could never hold it.  OOC: Tags: @maude |
