Ah, Hyrule Field. A vast, beauitful plain that connected all of Hyrule. Filled with towering oak trees, rolling hills and steady streams, it was one of Hyrules most beautiful, and most famous areas. There were houses darted here and there, mostly near the entrances to towns or Lon Lon Ranch. And during the day, it was totally peaceful. Monsters rarely roamed during the day, especially with the guard patrols Castle Town sent out to run through the field a few times a day. A gentle breeze flowed through the land, making the grass wave in a mesmerizing rhythm, almost like they very grass itself was breathing.

A white and black horse trotted through the grassy fields, and atop them were two people of note. King Leon el Hyrule, lord of the realm, and his guard, Crystal. To most it would appear that they were on official buisness (much as Leon had told his staff when they left) but no, right now Leon was intending to spend a day with Crystal. It was no secret to those close to him how he felt about the girl, and he hadn't had the time to show his appreciation towards her, what with being King and all.

But today was different. He'd made time today to do just that, and he intended to carry it out.

Taking a deep breath through his nose, Leon would speak up after a silent ride, his horse coming to a stop. "Aaaah..." He'd groan out happily. "I've always loved the smell of Hyrule Field. The air is just so... clean out here, wouldn't you agree? Much better than being in that stuffy castle all the time."

Crystal had always held a deep appreciation for nature, especially when she wasn't busy dealing with beating some monsters into their graves for them. She slowed her horse with the king, ears moving just a bit as she used her muscles to wiggle them back, opening the ear canal, letting her hear a touch more. She wouldn't have to do that if she hadn't of gotten water in her ear, she told herself, scoffing internally at the fact she let that happen.

Even on such a peaceful day, she always had her head about her as she watched their surroundings with a trained, cautious eye. It wasn't too hot today either, so she could appreciate that. The sun wasn't biting nearly as hard as it had been lately, and with the breeze they were getting from the trotting, it was beyond nice.

She rubbed her horse's neck quietly, soothing the large creature before looking to Leon. "The smell of stone does get a little old after a while. I almost forgot what the field looks like in the daytime." She half joked, eyes moving across the hills in front of them, scanning the trees. When Crystal was cleared to go into the field, which, for whatever reason it may have been, she always did it at night. Under the light of the stars and the moon, she did her work best. But thanks to that, she had seriously almost forgotten what the field looked like when it was under the sun's light instead.

Reaching up to rub the patch over her arm, she kept her eye on Leon a bit longer than usual. If it weren't for him being her charge, she probably would've forgotten what he looked like altogether with how much work was (ironically) seeming to keep them apart. Yea, he had knights at his side and stuff like that, but could a knight sneak like her? Manipulate the darkness like she could? She'd like to see one try. Ooh. There's something else to challenge the knights to if they bump into each other during training again.

Once she realized that her stare had gone distance, she blinked back into reality. "You picked a nice day to go riding. I'll give you that."

Of course, Crystal was being Crystal, still scanning the horizon and listening for any threats that may be nearing. Though he doubted anything would be coming at them in broad daylight. And right now, where they stood was at the top of one of the many hills in Hyrule Field, next to an oak. You could see the whole field from here. It was always one of Leons favorite spots as a child. Just sitting at this tree, relaxing with his sisters. It was a simpler time back then.

Loosing his foot from the stirrup on the horses left side, he raised his body to dismount his horse, hopping down, boots planted firmly in the grass. He'd pat his horses neck as the creature leaned down to graze on some grass as he walked over to Crystals horse, running his hand alongside the beasts neck. "I'm sorry, Crystal." He spoke, looking up to her. "That we don't get to spend a lot of time together. That's why I wanted to go riding today." He offered his hand to her, to help her dismount. Not that she needed it, but he was just being a gentleman.

"Did I ever show you this spot? I used to always come here as a kid with my sisters. You can see the whole field from here."

Once Crystal made sure his dismount was safe, she was already hopping down from her horse when he offered his hand, her eyes going wide as she hopped to the side of it, chuckling. "Don't apologize. We both have our responsibilities to manage." It may have been annoying, but it was still the truth, and there was no point in apologizing for the truth. Especially not when instead of those truths, you could have been fed constant lies. At least, that's what her master would always tell her. 'Child. It is better to be slapped with a truth, than it is to be kissed with a lie.'

She looked over at the tree and up at it, staring for a moment. "No, I've never been out here. Or at least I don't recall. I have passed this tree before though." She looked over at him then, raising an eyebrow. "Speaking of. How have your sisters been?" She didn't get much time at all to talk to them, in fact, she scarcely saw them, rather, she spent her time handling the Sheikah that passed through the castle, offering more training to the ones that wanted to become royal guards. Or try that is.

Geez, she spent so much fucking time training now a days. Her horse was so used to her stunts and acrobatics, he was probably one of the most chill animals in all the kingdom.

"They've been... busy. Marianne is studying to become a great scholar, and Beatrix has been busy in the army... I do try to see them, but between my duties as King and their own things they've been doing... there hasn't been much time." Indeed. Crystal wasn't the only one that Leon had been stolen away from due to his new duties as leader of his people. But he knew that the job needed to be done, and he couldn't trust anyone else with it. He was the only living Hyrule left that had a claim to the throne. Beatrix had given up her claim in favor of him. They both knew he'd be better at it... He really admired her for that.

Walking over to the tree, Leon would sit down and lean back against the bark, patting the ground next to him so Crystal could join him. "We used to come here all the time, after we snuck out of the castle that is." He chuckled some. "I can't tell you how many sunsets we'd watch out here, before my fathers guards came to come get us. It became a game. Taking bets on how long it would take for them to notice we were gone."

Crystal walked over to Leon, and after one last quick scout, sat down next to him, staring out at the horizon while he spoke about his sisters. She, didn't have any input she could relate with, she didn't know what to say. She was an only child, she never knew her parents, and the stories that included her running off to go chill somewhere always ended in serious reprimanding from her 'mom', step-dad and elders. She didn't want to ruin the mood, so she kept up her trained facade of 'yep, I'm chill.', listening to Leon, only responding with a nod or two. She got what he was saying, obviously, but just didn't have a response.

She never even so much uttered a word of her childhood to anybody. Even what Josh, a long time friend, knew, was very restricted. And she didn't want what little he had found out escaping his lips. Nobody knew, except for the other, older Sheikah, knew that her current 'dad' was a step-dad. That's how closed she was about it. "I." She closed her mouth, thinking about her response. She didn't want to bring up his father. He was deceased, and that probably still hurt. "Well, y know. Guards can be so lazy."

Finally, she got something out. Once this conversation ran dry though, she had already found another topic to drag the conversation onto. Her eyes glanced at her horse for a moment before returning to his, a deep red that was trained to portray only the emotions she wanted to put forth. One of their first lessons! Control of body language.
