| It felt... Strange, being in his armor again. For the first time in over two years, Josh was an armored man. Golden-colored plate armor, smithed to be as lightweight as it could be but while providing ample protection to the wearer. He didn't wear a helmet, the armor had never come with one. He didn't mind, really. Helmets left blind spots in your vision, and wouldn't protect from having your head separated from your shoulders if someone went for the neck. Having full access to his vision was more important to Josh then having more protection on his head. They couldn't hit him in the head if they couldn't hit him. Besides, how many helmed monsters had Josh felled? Where had their helmets saved them then? They hadn't. They had always fallen to Dragelix nonetheless.
Josh had returned to active duty, as a member of the Hyrulian Corps. As a new guardsman, it felt... Right, somehow. He never thought he'd be back to being a Guard. Never in a million years. But... He supposed that was just how things worked out. Under the service of the Royal Family, Josh would be better able to protect those who needed it.
Unfortunately, Josh knew that Dragelix had grown worn with use over the years, and likely also had grown rusty from not being used near as much the last few years inactive as well. He had continued to train, but... That was just training. Not near as much use as a sword should have, when wielded by a warrior. It's temperaments had long faded away. He didn't know how long Dragelix would last on the field of battle. And that worried him. It was his father's sword. He protected many with it... He didn't know what he would do if Dragelix broke. It would be like a part of him had been destroyed.
And then there was the bow issue. While Dragelix had held during the battle at the Starlight Festival, Josh's hunting bow had not. It had been splintered in half by a monster's weapon, and Josh had been left without a bow. While he wasn't used to archery in the field of battle, more accustomed to hunting with it, Josh knew that he could turn the hunting talent into that of archery in battle. Thus... He needed a new bow. A sturdy bow. One that wouldn't break when struck or had strain put on. The old one was wooden, and wood broke. Simple as that. Wood tended to be fragile. Josh knew he couldn't go into battle with fragile.
The solution to both problems came, when he had heard rumor of a legendary smith on Death Mountain. The Goron's leader, Solveig Gor-Rurdundo... Josh was a little put off at first about going to the leader himself about smithing... But apparently, he quite enjoyed it. And Josh was in a bind. He needed something durable, that could withstand far more then a normal blacksmith in town could temper to. Why? Because with his history... Josh knew. He knew just what he'd be getting himself into. He needed this to survive what was to come.
So he had passed through Kakariko Village and taken the trek to Death Mountain. The red cape that flowed from his armor no longer wore blank and allegiance-free. The symbol of Hyrule was now emblazoned on the cape, as well as on the centerpiece of his armor. He was a man of Hyrule... And now the world would know.
"SHIT!" He cried out, jumping back as a geyser would exude a force that would probably have killed him if he was standing on it. Whatever it was spewing, that shit was hot... But really, so was the rest of Death Mountain. He wasn't used to things popping out at him anymore... It'd been a very long time.
But the more it happened, the more he grew accustomed. The more stoic his expression became. It was as though Josh was slowly becoming his warrior self once again, more and more as time went on. The noises no longer bothered him by the time he finished his climb. But unfortunately, he'd caught the guards on a bad day. It was obscenely hot... The two guards that were stationed in front of the quarters of their chief were bored, and irritable. And certainly not very welcoming today. Nobody to throw off the mountain lately, was probably why... No action. Itchy trigger finger.
"State your business, Goro!"
"I come seeking the aid of your leader, Solveig Gor-Rurdundo. May I pass?"
The Goron guards would begin to laugh.
"You? Puny one, wishes to speak with our chief? Hohohoho! Look at this puny one! Our chief wouldn't waste his time on you, goro!"
As they laughed, Josh simply shook his head.
"I'm not leaving without an audience with your chief, good sir."
"Ohh? Is that so? Well, perhaps you need to learn your place, boy..."
Within two minutes of that, the fun time in the chief's chamber would be interrupted as the aforementioned Goron guard would go flying through the entranceway, letting out a loud "GORRROOOOO!" As he hit the ground. Josh would casually knock on the stone surface of the entrance before calling in.
"Uhh... Clean-up on aisle five? Your guards aren't really welcoming..."
Josh would step through the curtain, at that very moment sheathing his blade. He walked toward the center of the chambers, his expression stoic despite the half-hearted attempt at a joke earlier. He would then stop, gazing around, knowing that things wouldn't be as welcoming considering what happened at the entrance...
"I come in peace, please, sheathe your weapons" He spoke calmly, his tone now a gentle, yet firm air. Yet, within it, Solveig himself may even be able to trace the whispering remains of a commanding tone... That of a leader.
He had been a leader... A long time ago.
"I wish to speak with your chieftain, if my request may be respectfully heard. I come bearing no quarrel, though your men appear to be very touchy today."
