[attr="class","section"]The basics
Full Name: Valentine Bennett
Alias: The Archivist, Val (only family)
Age: 22
Birthday: Summer
Race: Hylian
Occupation: Archivist
Pronouns: He/him
Sexuality: Demisexual with a romantic attraction to men
School of Magic: Nayru
Beast Form: Snow leopard
[attr="class","section"]Appearance
A rather slight, pretty man, Valentine is about 5'5 and quite petite. He sports a rather pretty, feminine face, and has, on occasion, been mistaken for a woman, something that he doesn't really bother to care about. His golden eyes are quite striking, a feature that has been remarked upon many times before, though he never responds to the compliments.
His long hair is a light green, worn mainly loose with just a small tie at the end. As with any Hylian, his ears are long and delicately pointed; a long earring dangles from his right ear.
Valentine is very particular about his appearance and well-groomed. He prefers to wear well-made waistcoats and well-fitting pants, topped off with shiny, leather boots with a slight heel to them. One will simply never see a ruffled or disheveled Valentine; he'd rather quite die first.
[attr="class","section"]Personality
Valentine is a very serious and stern sort of fellow. He doesn't tolerate 'shennanigans', as he calls it, and as quite impatient with the more carefree, wild people of the world. Indeed, he sees such people as very irresponsible and isn't very fond of being around them, and he doesn't really bother to hide his distaste.
For Valentine is a man who does not see the point in bothering to pretend to like someone or hide his discomfort or annoyance just because polite society seems to think he ought to put on a mask. He's blunt; if he doesn't like you, you're going to know. He won't bother to sugarcoat it. And if said person still somehow doesn't get the picture, he can get very passive-aggressive.
Though he does much prefer his solitude and the company of his beloved books, Valentine is actually quite nice to people that don't annoy him. He rather adores children and is exceedingly patient with them, answering all their questions with a small smile and a patient tone. Those who seek knowledge for the sake of learning and respect books are also quite welcome in Valentine's company. He's quite pleased to chat about books or magic over a nice cup of tea.
Even so, he does prefer to often be alone, and when his social battery, so to speak, runs out, the man can and will lock himself up in the back of his beloved library and hide away with his work, spending hours, if not days, sorting through old texts and painstakingly categorizing them.
Quite often he forgets to eat and could probably do with someone who makes sure he does.
[attr="class","section"]History
Born in House Bennett as neither one of the oldest nor the youngest, Valentine grew up wanting for attention and never really receiving it. Not as if his parents didn't love him, but they had quite a lot of children, and Valentine just didn't stand out. He wasn't particularly skilled in anything, really. Certainly, he showed some talent in Nayru magic, but he wasn't anything special in the terms of magical skills, and he was utterly hopeless with weapons.
Music?
Couldn't carry a tune, and he had no patience for instruments.
His passion lay with books and immersing himself in their stories. He could curl up on some pillows in a corner of their home's library and read for hours. It was an escape from the hectic life of a large family, for while he did love his siblings, Valentine was a very quiet and reserved child who didn't do very well with other children. He didn't like how rowdy other children were, how loud, and he always struggled to understand his peers. He could read their body language, was often confused by their tone, and struggled to realize when someone was joking or not.
He was 'odd' in the views of adults and outright 'weird' by children his age. Books were his only friends, and he found solace in them, even discovered a talent for weaving his own stories on paper.
But he never found the courage or confidence to share his stories with anyone, not even his family. Perhaps especially his family, for a part of him aways felt much like a disappointment to them. Indeed, he struggled to feel like he belonged among people in general. There was always something that seemed to... separated him from others, as if his very mind were wired differently.
He struggled to express his thoughts and feelings in the way others did, struggled to understand how to properly respond to others, and the frustration of living in a loud, too colorful world that he couldn't understand- and didn't understand him- drove him to isolate himself.
Growing up to become an Archivist was only natural. To work among old texts, to gather them, collect them, help preserve them...
Oh, it was something that was not a mere 'job' to Valentine, but a true delight.
