Akisan is a Kakariko born sheikah. Whilst at a young age she had been made aware of her family's lineage and had strived to become a warrior. Akisan is( or claims to be) a descendant of a sheikah warrior from some centuries ago and was inspired by tales of her ancestor and desired to follow a similiar path to find wisdom from experiences of the world even beyond Hyrule. For this she had trained to be a recon agent for the Royal Family. Once Akisan had finished her training and graduated she had been given her first assignment.
It was a simple one. Akisan was to investigate and if possible, resolve, a silence of communication with a outpost/settlement in a distant territory. Weeks had turned to months and nobody or word had returned. Akisan had been considered MIA and the Kingdom of Hyrule had it's hands full with more prominent issues to be able to follow up.
Only now when Hyrule is in a time of peace Akisan has returned. Seemingly confused as to how much different things are now.
