[attr="class","section"]the appearance
Jonathan stands at a flat 6 feet in height and has a very impressive, bulky build fit for a man of his long active lifestyle. He shares his son Oron's fiery red hair and piercing, icy blue eyes, though his hair is much shorter and usually styled in a neat, slicked back look. He has a seemingly everpresent stubble on his face. His skin is rather pale, though a touch more sunkissed compared to his son and his ears just as long and pointy. Many will likely remark he looks younger than he actually is, which does now have a kernel of truth due to him being revived as he was at the time of his original death, thus leaving him physically around 2 years younger than he's supposed to be.
Jonathan often dresses in two particular styles. He is either seen wearing more regal clothing befitting a man of his royal status or dressed in light armor with a signature cape when out on the battlefield. He is usually rather handsomely armed in combat situations, often bringing with him a bow, sword, and even hidden daggers for good measure.
[attr="class","section"]the personality
Jonathan generally comes across as a rather stoic man. Always all business and often maintaining a clear poker face around most people with an occasional small smile. He is very knowledgeable and in the present was often considered one of the finer minds in Hyrule when it came to militaristic affairs, especially when directly on the field of battle himself. For a royal, Jonathan is also unusually practical and skilled in many regards that aid survival out in the wilderness. He can hunt, he can fish, he can forage, etc. etc. He's a natural woodsman. Considering how often he has been out and about over the years, these skills were all perceived necessities for him to learn.
While Jonathan is rather in control of his emotions beyond being a bit stern when needed, he does deeply care about his family and the people of Hyrule. It was to a point where him and his wife, Levidia, were often rather overprotective of their only son Oron during his upbringing out of a fear of any harm coming to him. This was perhaps not the best way to raise a naturally curious boy who wanted to do great things and caused resentment from their son, but to say he didn't care or treated Oron outright poorly would be a lie. Jonathan had tried to remedy this in recent years before his abrupt death, and now he's had to reckon with the fact that he was dead for 2 years and how things have changed and developed during that time.
Jonathan has an infamous reputation amongst any who would ever see him as an enemy. A famous story has long gone around of him channeling the power of Hylia to suplex a fully grown Goron soldier with ease when he was younger during a past incident. The fact that he even fell during the Starlight Tragedy is still hard to believe for most. Jonathan does enjoy a good fight and a worthy opponent is one of the few ways one can actually see him with a wide grin when he's not spending time with his family and closest associates.
[attr="class","section"]background
Jonathan El Hyrule was born as the youngest child of the previous generation of the Hyrulian Royal Family, being the younger brother of Daphnes El Hyrule VI and Theia de Hyrule. Naturally, this meant he never had much chance of ascending to the throne himself and there was a lot he felt he had to do growing up to prove he had some merit in merely existing. Jonathan proved himself a natural at combat and had quite a keen mind. As he got older, he began to assert himself more and more in various militaristic affairs and even managed to dabble in the system of magic that developed in Hyrule. It was through these struggles in trying to learn to wield the light magics of Hylia that he was naturally attuned to that Jonathan met a haughty noblewoman named Levidia. The two, for a time, did not get along very well, but something changed as they spent more and more time together. Soon enough, the two were married. Jonathan was always a somewhat stoic person, but he never smiled more genuinely and warmly than when he was with Levidia. His influence also helped humble Levidia in turn. It was at this time that Jonathan had already risen up in Hyrule's military and already was gaining quite a reputation in the nation as one of its mightiest generals. His elder sister Theia had herself left the royal life behind in order to be with the man she loved, who was of common birth. Levidia in turn had taken to being a teacher at the Hylian Academy of Magic, putting her much more impressive magical gifts to good use despite now technically being a Princess with other responsibilities to the Royal Family.
Jonathan and Levidia's marriage remained rather peaceful for years, but the two soon found out one day that Levidia was pregnant. It was in the midst of a past incident with the Goron people which forced Jonathan to be away during much of his wife's pregnancy and in turn planted the seeds of concern over their son... Soon enough, the two would be blessed with a son whom they named Oron El Hyrule. Oron would end up being the couple's only child and right around the middle of the current generation of the Hyrule Royal Family age-wise. Given Oron's own awkward position as a cousin of the (at the time) Crown Prince Leon, it too was not expected that he would ever end up anywhere near the throne. Jonathan had stepped back a bit from his active military duties to help raise his son with Levidia, moving to a more supportive role, though he would still take to the field if needed. Given the incident still weighed a bit on Jonathan and Levidia's minds, they perhaps had decided to raise Oron in a much more... Insulated environment. They tried to ensure he would never be in danger, were a bit restrictive with any potential travels, was educated by the finest tutors around, so on and so forth. It was during a past incident involving one of Oron's cousins and the prior loss of her husband when Jonathan would actually reunite with one Ursula von Brandt, a woman he knew from his military days. She had actually been hired to be the Royal Tutor of the family, which technically included Oron. While Levidia had already taken charge in honing Oron's budding magical gifts, including an unusual affinity for Farore magic that he inherited from his mother, there was no doubt that Ursula was her superior and thus the two would entrust her with their son for his education going forward.
Things were relatively peaceful for the past many years for Hyrule, though there was no doubt that Oron seemed to yearn for something far more than what his parents expected out of him... When Oron's elder cousin Leon had been forced to enroll under the Royal Guard's training to discipline him for his increasingly elitist behavior, Oron unexpectedly barged in and asked if he could also join Leon in the training. Jonathan and Levidia were floored and tried to convince Oron not to, but Oron finally put his foot down and called the two out for their overprotective parenting. Jonathan and Levidia were stunned by this and eventually relented on the promise that Oron not overdo it. Indeed, much like his father, Oron ended up being a natural in such matters and also had much stronger magic at his disposal. Jonathan's side of the family also got to be greatly amused by the humbling Leon went through in the process. Jonathan and Levidia decided to allow Oron more freedom in choosing his path in life after realizing that they were getting carried away in trying to keep him safe and things seemed to be fine again from there... Until one particularly dark day in Hyrule's history. The yearly Starlight Festival had arrived yet again and things were going rather fine so far... Until a massive army of various monsters suddenly sprung upon Hyrule City with no warning and began a massacre that has yet to be repeated before or after. Oron had regrouped with his parents and the three were fighting together, but Jonathan noticed something was amiss and went back to the castle with Levidia. They told Oron to try and stay safe, but... Jonathan and Levidia came across a mysterious assassin who had effortlessly slaughtered numerous guards and attempted to stop them as it was apparent they were trying to find Daphnes... Jonathan and Levidia unexpectedly were outmatch for the enigmatic figure and ended up fatally wounded in the process. They were unable to stop the assassination of Daphnes afterwards... The younger royal couple had passed away... And the effect this would have on their son would send him down a dark path that he would only barely escape from. In a normal scenario, this would be the end of Jonathan El Hyrule and Levidia de Hyrule...
... However, two years later, Jonathan and Levidia would suddenly find themselves standing back in the throne room of Hyrule Castle, which was around the area of the Castle where the two had been slain. To any onlookers, the couple had miraculously manifested from a blinding flash of light. They were alive and well again, but they did not actually remember what had happened to them during the horrific day that became known as the Starlight Tragedy. It was also now daylight when they last remembered it being nighttime... There was a complete blank spot in their memory of their deaths and what has occurred in the years since then. Many guards would scramble away to go and find a particular figure and the two would soon be met with their son... A much more weary looking Oron who was now notably scarred up. The two would be left confused when Oron looked as though he was seeing ghosts and the young man emotionally breaking down while hugging the two. From there, Jonathan and Levidia would have to be brought up to speed... They had been assassinated two years ago alongside Daphnes and an all-out war broke out between Hyrule and, supposedly, the forces of a Twili named Raalk who had actually been manipulated and overtaken by the influence of the legendary King of Evil Ganondorf. Oron himself had nearly died numerous times during this war as an increasingly dark influence drove him nearly mad with a desire for vengeance. The daughter of Theia had also returned and been revealed to be of royal blood... She in turn was now the Queen of Hyrule alongside a prince from Labrynna of all places named Josh. Many others from the Royal Family seem to have vanished or were just not actively involved in the life anymore. To say Jonathan and Levidia found this all hard to believe would be an understatement, but they eventually had to accept that it was all the truth.
Jonathan and Levidia now have to pick up the pieces of a world that has gone through some radical changes in a rather unlikely short span of time, but Hyrule had thankfully finally found some peace again. Jonathan would resume his duties as a general and Levidia would return to being a teacher at the Academy of Magic. The two were also now some unexpected new guides for the young Queen and King alongside Oron, who now had to get used to them being in his life again... The last remnants of sorrow and rage that remained appear to have been extinguished and he too now had their support and guidance in whatever he decided to do from there.
