Tipped off by a man referred to as the brother of the missing Ursula von Brandt, Hyrule’s scouts were able to locate the Mirror of Twilight, heavily guarded by the remainder of the enemy’s forces within the long-abandoned prison known as the Arbiter’s Grounds. This was it, all of Hyrule knew. This was the end of our struggle.
Hyrule’s forces were split into two units. One would storm the Gerudo Desert and face the enemy head on. Another unit would move past the enemy ranks during the fighting and make their way into the prison itself. Once there, they would navigate their way to the top where the Mirror of Twilight was held. With it secured, a force could be marshalled to storm the enemy palace in the Twilight Realm and bring the enemy leader to justice.
All hands were on deck for what was sure to be a legendary battle. Names like Knight Captain Tethras and Sir Dragelion led their squads into battle against the enemy hordes. But according to my sources there were some notable newcomers as well! Like, did you know that Sir Dragelion has siblings? His squad became a family affair as he was joined by his younger siblings Desmond and Ophelia Dragelion. Desmond apparently works in the Royal Family’s stables while the identity of the young lady remains shrouded in mystery.
Speaking of mysterious young ladies, hoh! It wasn’t long after he arrived that Dragelion’s trouble-attracting roommate Selene was on the scene! And she had quite the role to play! See, before they could get into the Arbiter’s Grounds, there was this giant vortex that blocked their way! The enemy could pass through just fine but they had managed to employ the prison’s defences seemingly created by the gods themselves. In a summit between Princess Marianne and leaders of the Goron and Zora clans, it had been decided that Sir Dragelion, who bore what was now referred to as the “Crest of Courage”, would attempt to use the mark’s power in order to counteract it. I wonder if anyone ever asked him if he knew how?
Commanding a unit of the army, Sir Dragelion led his squad into battle and by our eyewitnesses, boy was it a spectacular sight! But as his troops fought back hordes of monsters, it was Sir Dragelion against a giant magic vortex. But it appears that the magic of the Crest wasn’t enough on its own. And yet he kept pushing, as though ready to lay his life on the line for Hyrule’s prosperity! But this was not a sacrifice he would have to make today, as Selene would step forward with her own Crest in tow! Apparently this one resembles that of the Triforce of Wisdom!
So it was that the two were able to band together, Crests in hand like the heroes of yore and banish the vortex into the nether. This opened the way for a team led by His Majesty, King Leon El Hyrule himself, to enter the Arbiter’s Grounds.
With Mr. Von Brandt serving as guide, His Majesty’s forces stormed the prison. Alongside him was his sibling, the Princess Marianne de Hyrule. Majesty was separated from the group and wound up being forced outside. Having to rejoin the battle outside in order to survive, Princess Marianne took charge of the group for the rest of their undertaking.
In the midst of the chaos, the infiltration crew led by Her Highness would encounter the creature guarding where the Mirror of Twilight slept, which an eyewitness tells us was none other than the missing Lady Ursula von Brandt herself! Shocking, I know. She had been transformed into some matter of monstrosity by the enemy, and our heroes were forced to bash Brandt to the side to reach the Mirror. But it would turn out she was not brainwashed at all!
For it was all a trap. Upon activating the Mirror, the Twilight Realm opened before them and out came an entire army of horrible beasts. Led by the Twili’s Usurper King Raalk. It turned out he had disguised himself in order to lead Hyrule’s people to reform the Mirror of Twilight, to open a way for his armies to enter.
To kick off his invasion, Raalk bathed the Arbiter’s Grounds in twilight – a phenomenon now known as the Twilight Curtain.
War has begun, ladies and gentlemen. And it won’t stop until Raalk is slain.
