Race: Sheikah
Occupation: Kakariko Chieftain

[attr="class","section"]About Io
Hair Color: Silvery White
Eye Color: Deep Crimson
Skin Tone: Pale
Height: 5'6
Weight: 148
Build: Toned
Clothing: Iolani wears a wide-brimmed hat woven in bamboo and embellished with the symbols of the Sheikah.
At a glance, one would see Iolani as a dignitary of decisive action and courage, who demands utmost respect from those beneath her leadership. She maintains a high level of propriety, but is far more down-to-earth than people make her to be.
As a warrior, Io enjoys occasional spars from other leaders who can stand toe-to-toe with her in combat, and is more than willing to teach others techniques in combat.
She is rather bossy and tends to take the leader role in team situations as it demands. However, she is willing to delegate that role when she sees that another person shows promise and competence.
... Of course, once all tasks have been appointed, she usually sneaks off to do something else...
[attr="class","section"]history
Iolani took upon the mantle of chiefhood not soon after the Battle of Eldin, and has since then lead the distribution of the Sheikah forces in tandem to the Hylian Kingdom's own leadership. But before she was even a chief, she was the right-hand of the previous chieftain, and so performed her duties with the strength, discipline, and distinction expected of her.
Relation to the previous Jito
The previous chief was a great warrior and a fatherly mentor to Iolani, among many other Sheikah. In his younger days as Jitodai, he was a savvy general, but had a great love for inventions and devices brought over from Hyrule Town. Of such things, he had a great love for the Pictobox, and was never seen without one hanging from around his neck.
He took pictures everywhere he went, but focused mostly on people, animals, and the landscape. He saved them all in old, dusty albums, still yet sitting on the shelves to this day.
Battle of Eldin
A great horde of monsters ravaged the armies of Hyrule, but not without meeting great resistance. By the time the troops were rallied, however, it was too late for the Sheikah chieftain. He was killed in valiant combat, along with a great many of his brethren who had joined him in the battle.
Jitodai Iolani continued the fight in rage and sorrow, hewing monsters that had stepped within meters of her late mentor's body. She figured that, if it be her final moments, she would have defended the honor of the fallen.
Aftermath
Perhaps it was divine favor that preserved her--or dumb luck, but as the horn of victory was blown, Iolani was found alive and in a strange state.
Bruised and bloodied, her figure swayed in place with eyes glazed and darkened. Her shadow fulfilled her unconscious wish, and now that friends were here, as if a doll with child's hands removed from it, she finally fell upon the bodies of her comrades.
Her breath was as faint as silence, the slow, filling of her lungs perceivable as immobile, and skin so white she could not be taken as anything other than a corpse, she was lain side by side with the fallen...
That is, until one of the passing nurses saw her head turned toward the chieftain sleeping peacefully at her side, eyes flooded with tears. Iolani was quickly taken under the care of Hyrule's best until she had fully recovered physically.
But, mentally, she was in a state of murderous ire. The strong emotions that prevailed during her desperate fight lingered, hanging over her head as she were, at that very moment, surrounded by the wicked SCUM that had slaughtered her beloved chieftain and friends in cold blood.
Recovery
Regardless, the jitodai was brought back to Kakariko to mourn and recuperate from battle. For many days, she ate very little, lost and lacking hope without the presence of those she held dearest to her. Pegoro, who had already built the Kakariko Hot Spring, was the one who had cared for her during her darker days.
It was not until she had stumbled across her mentor's old albums that her wounds began to heal. Each and every pictograph wrought the memories of those that she'd lost in the battle, wrought in lively color in her mind.
Iolani poured over those photos and so recalled her mentor, and her friends, but most of all, she saw much of herself. A stern, unlovable creature who could only focus on the now... who only did as her duties had bound her to as right-hand of a great man.
Much to her chagrin, the final album was mostly empty... and she recalled that the chieftain was still working on it.
... Mostly, of course. There was a parchment hidden within the album, addressed to her by the chieftain.
The Late Chieftain's Letter
"My faithful Io. I wrote this on the notion of not knowing anything, whether we shall both see tomorrow or not.
If I do not, but you do: I have prepared this for you. Consider it my last will and testament, eh? Morbid things, but good for the grandkids...
I'm sure you've seen my albums... chockful of pictographs! Good pictographs, bad pictographs... but it doesn't matter whether they are liked or not. They are memories of beautiful days when we had the freedom to take them. I took them because I thought, 'Wow! I can take pictures of beautiful scenery and friends!' But then... but then I realized that I can take a picture of my good mother, two months before she passed away. Then I can remember what she looked like even as I grow old and senile...
So, with that thought... I ended up taking pictures of memories. I wanted to remember everything, no matter what, so I hope this inspires you to do the same.
Alright, so I've already digressed. Let me get back into the nitty gritty.
In the event that I pass, I desire that you would take my place. You've had to do it a few times before, but mostly based on my explicit instructions... and since I've chosen you, there's far more things that I'd need to tell you.
To be a leader means you must make hard choices, perhaps even break free from the old and embrace the new (only so long as it's good for you, though!). The moon waxes and wanes, and so the tides take from the sands, and brings in driftwood. Life will go on, and you must move on, too, if you want to get anywhere...
They say to live life without regrets... so I'd better put this all in the letter. You're gonna need to know all this stuff..."

The letter continued on. And on. And on. And on.
The late chief had a lot to say about each and every person who made Kakariko their home, even about people who had moved on. There were instructions on leadership, things she already knew, and, of course, pointers on how to take the best image possible in pictography.
To most, it would have been a droll read at this point, yet Iolani continued.
Until, finally...
"... Whew, I've nearly run the inkwell dry, but that should be everything. I leave Kakariko Village in your capable hands, Io.
... And you ought to know it, but you were truly a daughter to me. A bit stubborn and set in old ways, thanks to your teachers... yet I learned a lot from watching you, too. Teaching goes both ways, you know?
Maintain that vigilance you've set over me time and time again, and find yourself a worthy warrior who can claim to be your right-hand.
If you must war again, may you fight with the goddess Hylia’s divine protection.
Raise your head and walk tall, Chieftain.
Fair you well,
Pycangoh
PS: Pictography is a great hobby… give it a try!"

Presently...
With the focus of the war shifted outside of Eldin, Iolani found the opportunity to assess their resources and distribute toward strengthening their forces. Kakariko Village, with the addition of the hot spring resort, has become a recreational town and a place where the heart and mind may find respite in these trying days.
However, there was a dire need to push advancements in weapon technology to enhance their effectivity in the war. Naturally, airships were a fine addition to the kingdom's arsenal, and the firepower provided by the Artificer's creations were impressive. Still, Iolani found the projectiles rather slow and inaccurate, and found such performance lacking compared to a simple, beginner level magic orb.
Naturally, the use of magic was a strong point of contention between the chief and the hermit of Snowpeak, as the latter refuses to use the arcane for personal reasons.
[attr="class","section"]Weapon and Magic Mastery
As a born and bred Sheikah warrior, raised from a young age in martial combat, Iolani is a force to be reckoned with, whether against a single opponent or a small army. Her associates attest to her expertise in swordplay and marksmanship, felling opponents many times her size.
She does not rely as heavily on her expertise in shadow magic, but she only knows what will assist her in any stealth-oriented mission.
played by Fish, Iolani is an Original Character. Iolani uses Paya/Impa's outfits from The Legend of Zelda
