[During the Invasion of the Palace of Twilight - Outskirts of the Twilight Realm]
The field was deadly silent. The dusky sky bathed the plains with a transient peace that would shift to the dark of night soon, if not for the fact that it was a perpetual twilight. It held a serenity, even now when its capital was being attacked. However, the point was not the ways of the Twilight Realm.
No, the focus was the sudden change that would take over a small patch in the sky. A shadow would flicker into existence high in the sky: just above a rather unremarkable patch of ground. It would glimmer for a moment, before runes of twili make would flicker around the patch. It would breathe to life a vortex-like portal. Out would pop none other than Sae Mizru, fresh from seeking closure as to what happened to his family in his home world, after ditching his Ballerina companion that had led him through the woods and had initially accompanied him (maybe ever so unwillingly) to his realm.
All the best, Auri-kins, but I have other things to do! Shame I probably won’t get those Rupees for a reward...will have to get them from you next time!
Sadly, his goals at this moment did not involve him directly fighting the evil usurper he so naively trusted once. Nothing would have been more joyous being personally responsible for overthrowing the false king that had so expertly fooled him into believing in his tyranny. But that would have brought him too much personal risk. He surmised both Twili and rebel forces would have attacked him, confusing him for an agent of the opposite side.
He would dive out of the portal, spiralling several times, landing with a practiced laziness. He discarded his disguise as a Twili palace guard, now no longer needing to hide himself the way he needed to when he and Aurelie were closer to the city. The oversized metallic helmet and pauldrons clanged loudly as they made contact with the ground. His mind was still racing at what he had witnessed.
A great loss left him feeling hollow. However, falling back on old habits, he discarded any blame or regret as easily as he shed the pilfered disguise.
His was a life spent constantly chasing the fun, whimsical and delightful experiences of life.
There was no time for regret or sadness.
He would run away from the pain acknowledging what he had lost and what damage he caused for as long as his legs could support him. It wasn't my fault.
As the fields around him were completely empty, he saw no need to waste his energy or time glamouring himself into his alter ego – Aksae the Gerudo. After all, as far as the eye could see nobody else was around.
The rowdy lad ruffled his hair while trying to find a direction that seemed to lead him close to another crossing from this realm back to Hyrule. A wide, open world was at his fingertips now! The unrestrained freedom of choice caused him to feel excited. He could already feel the oppressive weight that had hovered over his shoulders just moments ago already being released. A wide grin formed on his face.
For now, he would run away and disappear into the masses of another world. At least until he knew for certain that the Usurper-Tyrant had indeed been overthrown and being a Twili (well, more specifically a double-crossing rogue agent such as him) in either realm was no longer the borderline death sentence it felt like it was. Maybe then he could retire Aksae and live in peace as himself…at least until he wanted to have some fun and live as another person again.
His glowing yellow eyes fixated on what appeared to be a distant isle suspended over the void of the realm. Maybe some form of settlement or enclave where the veil between Hyrule and this realm was thin enough to pierce through with a bit of magical assistance (and a shadowy energy source he stole from the guards that would definitely speed the process up). He would make his way to his sojourn uninterrupted. Perhaps unaware that prying eyes may have spotted him; perhaps unobserved until he arrived at his destination.
He’d pay no attention one way or the other. At least not until it mattered.
Just the clitter-clatter of the copious amount of jewelry that adorned his torso and arms, and the rustling of the wind through the grass would keep him company until such a time he crossed paths with someone. His only thought was whether he would have enough time to disguise himself should he cross paths with another weary traveler.
