Meanwhile, if they had chosen the left path and walked further…
Outside the entrance to the strange cave, a group of people had gathered, waiting. They were men and women with rough clothes and some even with rougher faces, all of them carrying at least one deadly weapon of some sort and indeed, they all seemed deadly efficient in wielding them. There were some horses, too, tied in irregular places among the people. The stock of short, stout horses usually used by the hardy Gerudo people of the desert. In-between the makeshift tents they had erected to provide some shade they loitered around, walking occasionally but talking with hushed voice.
Nearest to the cave entrance, two person sat casually against some rocky protrusions. One was a black-haired, muscular Hylian. The other was a tough looking Gerudo, no less muscular than the Hylian.
The Hylian lifted his head lazily. “Such a roundabout way with Shade, huh?”
The Gerudo, who was gazing idly towards the empty landscape, turned her head.
“Such is the way Boss operates.”
The Hylian shook his head.
“I know. But I say, it’s faster to just drag the scholar along and force him to do as we say. Much quicker than staging this elaborate scheme. Look, we were even ordered to close the entrance with canvases to mask the flow of air coming in. They’ll die in there.”
The Gerudo tilted her head.
“I disagree. He’ll have more incentive to do what he’s supposed to do if he thinks his own life is in his hand.”
She waved her hand towards the closed cave entrance, “Besides, this cave…is not your usual cave.”
The Hylian let out a sigh.
“Let’s hope Shade does not pull anything stupid… Not that person has ever.”
The Gerudo’s eyebrows were raised.
“You were beaten?”
“Killed half of my men, yeah. But then, I realized we’d get more if we simply follow. Never let us down until now, rupee-wise.”
The Gerudo nodded and resumed her idle gaze. For a while they did not talk again, letting the simmering heat burning the air. Today was an especially windless day.
“You think Boss's taking foolish risks?” The Hylian finally broke the silence.
“Bare-handed? Unless facing two Gorons: No.”
“He could have left alone.”
“Without a torch? Hardly. And we made thoroughly sure that there is nothing burnable in there now. This is a perfect setup.”
The Hylian whistled.
“And that Shade has memorized the way blindfolded. This Amulet must be worth it. This is a more than a month—long plan. Too long for my liking, actually.”
The Gerudo nodded.
“Indeed. All that’s needed was the guide. The eyes did not bring a name until yesterday.”
The Hylian smiled, then rested his head.
“It helps to spy a king's court, doesn’t it?”
“Don’t get too sleepy. We’ll have to do our orders soon.”

Note: But please don't worry. Just do what your character would do without fear! Ana's safety is guaranteed (Except if the staffs decided to throw something at the quest...)
