[attr="class","header"]return of the king!
Hello again to our true believers! I'm Rita Ceres, here to bring you the NEXT BIG EDITION of the Hyrule Chronicle -- your leading source in news for Hyrule's biggest happenings and exploits!
It appears that reports of His Majesty, King Leon having been killed during his journey were heavily exaggerated. His Majesty was sighted hobbling his way into Hyrule Castle, covered in dirt and soot. Sources say he immediately returned to the throne room and placed himself down on his throne as though he had never left.
He was aided by Lady Ursula von Brandt, who helped fill in the King on matters of importance during his absence. Details are still sparse on what led the King to take an extended journey away from Hyrule, but we hope to try and get an interview with the King very soon! With King Leon's surprise return though, the face of Hyrule may very well change, and possibly even change the face of the ongoing war itself.
But the juicy royal drama doesn't stop there! Over a year since her disappearance following the Starlight Tragedy, Princess Marianne de Hyrule was found and brought to Hyrule Castle in order to recover from an unknown ordeal. Details are sparse as to what caused her disappearance or what led to her return, but some sources say that she was sighted being escorted by Princess Rularu of Zora's Domain. The Chronicle was unable to reach either Princess for comment.
With the returns of King Leon and Princess Marianne, events in Hyrule began to move quickly. One of the first acts of Marianne upon her recovery was to call for the official knighting ceremony of Sir Josh Dragelion, who she dubbed to onlookers as "The Hero of Kakariko Village".
While Dragelion had been knighted some time ago, his ceremony had been forgone by the temporary ruling council. Her Highness presided over the event herself, testing Sir Dragelion's resolve and prowess in combat. A great show was put on, and Sir Josh Dragelion was officially christened a Knight of Hyrule. Having been the first Knighting Ceremony in several years, it has brought high spirits to Hyrule's military during a difficult hour.
But even in these happy moments, dark clouds continue to hang over Hyrule as an incident between a nobleman and two commoners happened in Hyrule City, one that nearly led to the first public execution of an individual in some time. Lord Perseus of the noble Perseus Family was involved in a physical altercation with a ragged looking man, one that eventually led to shoving between them. After getting on the losing end of it, Lord Perseus fell into a rage and demanded the heads of both the man, as well as a silver-haired onlooker to Princess Marianne.
Before things could spiral too far though, one identified as Lady Ursula von Brandt brought clarity to the situation and cleared the two commoners of wrongdoing. What does this mean for the Family Perseus? What is Von Brandt's connection to these people, and will they have to watch their backs moving forward? Who are these people? The Hyrule Chronicle hopes to find names before long.
Up next, we bring you an update from renowned monster researcher, Dr. Blinbo!
"Dr. Blinbo here, to bring up the topic of the bat-like Keese. Many adventurers find they are a nuisance and bear little threat in smaller numbers. However, as I have always said in my articles, 'Never underestimate a Miniblin!' And so the logic continues to this day! Keese are far more formidable in large numbers, and they have a nasty habit of setting themselves alight when there is a source of fire in the area! I recommend that merchants and adventurers traveling during peak Keese activity times to practice wariness.
When dealing with a larger swarm, they will more than likely break off after their numbers have been significantly reduced due to their survival instinct. So, why is it that individual Keese attack even when alone? I submit to you the theory that Keese who have experienced the trauma of battle think they can easily retaliate against a foe for trespassing into their territory. Furthermore, it has been discovered of the unusual behavior of a Keese throwing itself into a fire to gain a tactical advantage against their opponents.
These days I have been feeling quite spry to take on the work I must do for the MRC! Anyhow, I'm running out of space for the tabloid. Do look forward to the next installment of Dr. Blinbo's Research!"
Thank you, Dr. Blinbo! Up next, a surprise awaited Hyrule's soldiers in their own training yard, as reports state that the rising Knight Sir Josh Dragelion squared off against the infamously powerful Lady Ursula von Brandt in a sparring match described as tense, exciting and down to the wire by onlookers.
Ursula's magic was a force to be reckoned with and one that was very much worthy of her reputation, but Sir Dragelion tenaciously weathered the storm and was able to outlast the Professor of Magic through sound tactical resourcefulness. It's safe to say that with powerful presences such as these at our back, the war may well be able to swing in Hyrule's favor!
The career of Sir Josh Dragelion has continued to impress as he soon after led a squad of soldiers on the trail of a bandit group, one who had been sighted kidnapping travelers on the roads to hold ransom, or worse, sell as slaves. Rescuing the Royal Family's local astronomer Pallin, Dragelion's squad along with Pallin found and stormed the bandit camp. Overwhelming their foes through a mix of might and unorthodox military tactics, the bandits were captured and arrested to be tried by King Leon at a later date.
[attr="class","header"]Coming in Issue 4...
And finally, we have received word that the locations of three pieces of the Mirror of Twilight have been confirmed! After much searching, Hyrule's forces may have finally found the key to ending this war! Teams will be assembled and assigned shortly, and you know that we at the Chronicle will have the details as they arrive! This is the Hyrule Chronicle, and I'm Rita Ceres, signing off for now! Look forward to our upcoming coverage of Hyrule's search for the Mirror of Twilight!

fall, year 02 | special issue
[attr="class","header"]LOVE IS IN THE AIR!
Hello to our loyal readers and subscribers! Welcome back to the Hyrule Chronicle, your leading source in news for Hyrule's biggest happenings and exploits! I'm Rita Ceres, here to bring you a SPECIAL edition of the Hyrule Chronicle! This issue will be dedicated not to blood, guts and warfare, but to the pursuit of love! Hyrule City's beloved Sailing Sunsets has officially begins a promotional event, bringing some much-needed love and care to a war-battered Hyrule! Here to document the event of course is me! Rita Ceres!
For a bit of background story, Hyrule has seen its share of problems in the last few years. From the horrible Starlight Tragedy that robbed us of our dearest late Majesty and left Hyrule in shock and fits of tears -- to the gallant final stand at Kakariko Village, as Hyrule's forces made one final push to keep those monsters out of our homes! We salute you, armies of Hyrule, and we thank you for your sacrifices on our behalf!
As our forces prepare to go on the offensive and hopefully bring Hyrule back into an era of peace once more, the Sailing Sunsets Tavern has decided to bring some warmth as Hyrule ventures into the cold, both figuratively AND literally! A hotspot for good food and a place for travelers to spend the night, the Sailing Sunsets has recently begun expanding its culinary horizons as a full blown restaurant. Seeing an opportunity for business and to contribute to our beloved Hyrule's morale, they have set up a randomized blind dating system, setting aside their highly requested outdoor dining area on the port for those who participate!
As I write, the participants are presently being seated together, with each table having a number to tell them where to go! This time, I will be jotting down all the best scoops for you, our loyal Hyrule faithful, LIVE and IN REAL TIME as they arrive! Why? Because knowing there is still love in the world with the ongoing war is sure to bring some love to the hearts of all our readers! Are you ready? Here we go!
Oho! We have a Princess in our midst! Her Royal Highness of Zora's Domain, Princess Rularu has graced us with her presence! But I haven't seen her companion before! This Gerudo beauty is a new sight to see, but considering the heavier tint of her skin, this may well be her maiden voyage from the Gerudo Desert! Used to the heat, will our potential hidden gem be able to handle this spitfire of a Princess? Or will Her Highness be too hot for even a Gerudo to handle?
Is that a Lizalfos? The thought of a monster roaming Hyrule City makes this journalist's skin crawl, but if this lizard is looking for companionship instead of violence, who am I to complain? This pairing may end up tumultuous though, as their date is the up and coming mercenary Nova! Not much is known about this adventurous heart, but that large sword on her back might make for a tense evening!
Ladies and gentlemen, THAT is Lady Phoebe Arkwright! A respected nobleman's daughter and heir to a vast fortune, this Hylian heartthrob has spent a great deal of time as part of the fledgling Monster Research Council as of late! But look at the size of THAT hamhock! That ladies and gentlemen, is Dormagoro, the second in command to Goron Chief Solveig up on Death Mountain! Two important people of differing backgrounds meet on what could be a battlefield of lovey dovey destiny!
On the subject of heartthrobs, the merchant Namielle has earned the affection of many a man and woman across Hyrule for her generosity. One soft heart meets another though, as the plucky Perci takes his seat! This little avian guy is a student at the University of Magic here in Hyrule City, and has been on his own adventures as of late as well! Birds and fish don't typically go well together -- will this pairing prove to be different?
Oh, this should be interesting! Rumor says this mysterious lady is the Witch of Kakariko who is capable of turning you into a toad at the bat of an eye, change your toes to purple at the flick of a wrist, and level an entire army with her terrifying magic if she were to grow angry! Will magical mayhem ensue as she encounters the local blacksmith Lena? She is a favorite of local warriors in the area, who has a stall here in Hyrule City, but can she forge her way into the witch's heart? Or will she find herself with broken dreams and a bad case of the warts?
Oh my! Is that Sir Josh Dragelion I see? Even in a farmer's garb, that face could never escape the ever-vigilant eye of Rita Ceres! Recently welcomed into the doors of nobility with open arms, the Hero of Kakariko Village was named Lord Dragelion by King Leon himself! But oh, his companion! That's the silver-haired mystery who got into a scuffle with a local nobleman! Narrowly escaping the jaws of death row, how will she fare sitting across from a respected Knight? But that's not all, folks! An anonymous tip has named the woman as wandering adventurer Selene Merrows, and here's a blockbuster for you all -- these two I am told actually live together! Could a close friendship blossom into something more? Or will their different paths prove too great a hurdle to overcome?
A strong Sheikah protector specially chosen by Princess Marianne, Chaska is rarely seen away from Her Highness' side, but today the Sheikan beauty strikes out on her own! There aren't many reports of this one being a chatterbox, so this could prove to be very interesting! Taking her seat across from Chaska is the aspiring engineer Letia from the budding foundations of a Rito Village up in the sky! Whether she can engineer some chemistry between her and this stoic heart remains to be seen!
And that's all the time we have for now! Hopefully these pairs can light some fireworks and bring some much-needed warmth to Hyrule in a time where we may very well need it the most! Thank you folks for reading our biggest edition yet! This is the Hyrule Chronicle, and I'm Rita Ceres, signing off for now!

[attr="class","header"]MIRROR SHARDS FOUND! DORMAGORO'S HEROIC SACRIFICE!
Hello again to our true believers! I'm Rita Ceres, here to bring you the NEXT BIG EDITION of the Hyrule Chronicle -- your leading source in news for Hyrule's biggest happenings and exploits!
After scouts were able to report the likely hiding spots of the pieces of the Mirror of Twilight, the people of Hyrule would band together to finally go on the offensive! The Forest Temple in Faron Woods. The Goron Mines on Death Mountain. And the Lakebed Temple deep within Lake Hylia. Expeditions from all factions would be sent to each, with the intention of retrieving their respective mirror shards. But it seems that the shards have also begun to have an effect on the monsters and environments around their hiding places as well. Could our heroes bring us one step closer to ending this war before more blood can be shed?
Within Faron Woods, a platoon headed by Knight Captain Barrett Tethras would set out to enter the Forest Temple. But they would quickly find that the shard had changed the deep woods within Faron. The trees had grown dark and lost all life, lakes turned to swamps that threatened to drag our heroes down into their depths, and animals had turned into monsters. With the soldiers of Hyrule staying outside to fight the monsters off, Captain Tethras took a small squad into the Forest Temple. Sir Josh Dragelion served as his second, while Princess Marianne had shocked the squad with her appearance on her first major combat mission. Luckily she was accompanied by her venerable guard Chaska. The powerful and mysterious Lady Ursula von Brandt, an apparently helpful Darknut and a mercenary called Vladimir had also been dispatched to assist. Would this ragtag group be able to find the mirror shard and get out alive? That, my loyal readers, is soon to come!
Braving tricks and traps, fighting off hoards of monsters, our heroes trekked through the Forest Temple with boundless determination! But disaster struck, as Captain Tethras was wounded and decided to return to the surface in order to receive aid and help with the fight outside. This left Sir Dragelion with a heavy burden on the newly minted Knight's shoulders, with not only the mission at stake, but the life of Her Highness was in his hands as well! With Dragelion now leading the squad, the group were able to reach the depths of the Forest Temple and the shard of the Mirror of Twilight, but a double header of baddies stood in their way!
Facing impending doom, Josh Dragelion would apparently find himself chosen by the very goddesses themselves! Materializing what a source tells us may well be a shard of the fabled Triforce of Courage, Dragelion was able to pave the way for their party to defeat the monsters and retrieve the mirror shard! But their tale did not end without its bitter taste. It seems that our foes may well be able to strike from many nooks and crannies, as the Lady Ursula von Brandt was forced to take the place of Her Highness when the fiends tried to abduct Princess Marianne. Hyrule's forces have since been able to curb the monster threat in Faron Woods and we can confirm that the dark presence in the area has disappeared, but Lady Ursula has yet to return. Where could our fair lady be? As of this writing, our sources say that hope for her survival is beginning to wear thin.
The Goron Mines was evermore the bittersweet. Monster forces intercepted the attempts by the Gorons to find the mirror shard, ambushing and abducting several Gorons and taking them further into the Mines. A rescue team led by Chief Solveig and his respected apprentice Dormagoro would go in after them, in hopes of rescuing their brothers and finishing the job in retrieving the mirror shard. They would find that the very mines of which the Gorons forged their weapons and armor for which they were famed for, had been turned against them by the effects of the Mirror of Twilight. But aided by the Lady Phoebe Arkwright, an astronomer named Pallin working for the Royal Family, and a local blacksmith going by Lena Clarke, the group would manage to breach the depths of the mines, rescuing the Gorons before continuing on into the core of the mines.
It was here that the group found a monster guarding the piece they sought. While the party was successful, it came at a grave price. Chief Solveig was apparently greatly injured in this battle and found himself on death's door, but it was the loyal Dormagoro who died in his place. The Goron people greatly mourn the loss of one so young and full of promise, struck down before he could become the Chief himself. While they were successful, was the price perhaps too high? What will happen to the Gorons now that their leadership has been compromised potentially beyond repair? With rumors of assassins trying to make a move, is the life of the Goron Chief in greater danger than ever before?
The waters of Lake Hylia have recently been swarming with monsters, more hostile and aggressive than ever before. The lake had been "corrupted" by some influence, according to scholars of Zora's Domain. Surmising that a shard of the Mirror of Twilight may be behind this corruption the same as it had done to the forest and the mountains, a team was dispatched to the Lakebed Temple under the depths of the lake in hopes of finding it there.
In a shocking move, Princess Rularu herself would join this expedition, desiring what was best for her people. As many of the Zora considered the young Princess to be rather brattish, this move came as a surprise, but also a subject of great concern. Undeterred, she enlisted Phima of the Monster Research Council, the mysterious maiden Selene who has recently made waves in Hyrule City, the Zora scholar Anastasia, and a mystery warrior who rumor say may well have been part of the fabled Kokiri tribe! Then again, this is simply rumor. The Kokiri have not been known to exist for hundreds of years, if they existed at all! Either way, the group dove deep into the depths of the Lakebed Temple, where they were confronted by a large aquatic beast that had swallowed a piece of the Mirror of Twilight! And they were going to have to do some serious fishing to get it back.
In the battle, sources say that Rularu put the safety of the group over her own, risking herself even if it meant her demise. She perhaps bit off a bit too much though, and it was Phima who would take a great deal of damage to protect Her Highness. Reports also say that the mysterious Selene had also shown a proficiency for Hylia magic. Is there more to this maiden of mystery than meets the eye? The creature was defeated, and our tired band of adventurers were victorious. While Phima was acclaimed greatly by the Zora for her heroics, we were unable to reach her for comment. But the Monster Research Council may well be the real deal! Princess Rularu meanwhile had earned a great deal of respect by her peers, even if she was a tad reckless. We may well have our next Zora Queen after all!
[attr="class","header"]SOON TO COME...
With the pieces collected, the stage is finally set! All that's left to do is bring the pieces to the Mirror of Twilight, located somewhere in the Gerudo Desert, and Hyrule's forces can take the fight to the enemy, and send those monsters packing for good! This is a hopeful Rita Ceres, signing off!
