[attr="class","section"]The Basics
Full Name: Kinome Gnamma
Alias: Stormcrow / Weather Witch
Age: 70s-80s
Birthday: Summer
Race: Gerudo
Occupation: Gerudo Elder
Pronouns: She/Her
School of Magic: Farore
Beast Form: Grey Crow
[attr="class","section"]Personality
Kinome carries regret for the Gerudo's tainted past at all times, exuding a wounded pride wherever she goes which has caused her defensive nature to become somewhat harsh in her senior age. She is hard on fellow Gerudo to behave in such a way that represents their people well in the eyes of the rest of Hyrule. She is a reflection of a lifetime making amends for the damage that was done by her people, mystically and diplomatically, having done what she can to heal the world from the ravages of dark magic and guide the Gerudo in becoming more than just an insulated tribe of ill-reputed thieves and black magicians.
Kinome is worldly and well-travelled, having knowledge of the other cultures and customs of Hyrule but will often mask how much she knows with a casual disregard for all customs and cultures. It takes a lot to earn her respect but once you have it, you have won a potent ally for life. Kinome loves to travel and adventure, avoiding her ceremonial responsibilities as a Gerudo elder wherever possible, but she understands that she has to be seen and lead by example in such a way that the younger Gerudo can look up to her. She fears gaining too much power and status, recognising her own pride and her potential to become someone worse than she is.
[attr="class","section"]Background
Recognised from a young age to have an affinity for magic, Kinome was raised at the Desert Colossus far from her sisters at the Fortress. The Colossus had once been a temple to an ancient Goddess of the Sands worshipped by the Gerudo but statues of the goddess had been torn down by her followers after the fall of Ganondorf Dragmire. Sorcery and idol worship were under heavy scrutiny and when Kinome began her training, she felt the eyes of Gerudo guards on her back that would follow her for most of her life. Typical attitude towards sorcery was harsh and it was seen by many as the reason for the Gerudos' fall from grace but it was recognised by wise elders as an important art to preserve, albeit with more precautions taken.
Time moved on, and sorcery was not the insular practice it had once been at the Desert Colossus. As part of their reparations to the Hyrule Royal Family, the Gerudo tribe had opened their doors to the wider world. Trade between different regions in Hyrule offered new medicines, new magics and new technological innovations, and the Gerudo debated among themselves how much of the new world they were willing to welcome in without diluting the foundations of their culture. Kinome was a vocal advocate for making use of foreign trade to ease the harshness of survival in the desert, and it is her firm belief that this contributed towards the rise in numbers of males within the tribe and led to her being offered a position as an elder: an advisor to the chief and guide for her people.
To the surprise of everyone around her, Kinome refused the offer. Instead, she wandered the regions of Hyrule, letting Farore's wind take her where it may, and lent her decades of mystical knowledge to many adventurers' causes for the good of the realms. She practiced the art of wind-sailing to move around quickly and battled the sandstorms of the Haunted Wasteland to find new oasis locations, fairy fountains and other sacred sites in order to bring lost secrets back to the tribe. When she was satisfied that she had enough knowledge of the world to provide real experience for the tribe's benefit, she accepted a role as Gerudo elder.
[attr="class","section"]Notable Traits
A lifetime of practicing Farore magic has caused Kinome to take on certain aspects associated with it:
- Due to her affinity for Farore's magic, Kinome's golden Gerudo eyes become stormcloud grey when she is casting spells that align with her affinity.
- Kinome is surprisingly spree and active for an elderly Gerudo - some have theorised that this is because her body is energized by storms or because Farore magic lightens her bones.
- Kinome's voice carries in a room like thunder, and beware of getting on her bad side - when she scolds, her tongue is quick and stings like lightning itself!
- The art of magical flight is lost to the ages but Kinome has attempted to recover its secrets. So far, she has developed a talent for gliding on the wind using a combination of spells and specialised equipment which she has termed "wind sailing". This only works if she has the right equipment with her (a sailcloth, heavy robes with enough wind resistance or her latest project: the traditional broomstick customised with a sailing fin.)
