Personality: Ehtolos could be called many things, proud, arrogant, rebellious, spontaneous, and adventureous to name a few. The Prince's temperment shifts like the leaves on the wind, and he always prefers to do things his own way no matter how hard it may be. As a Royal born son of Daphnes, Ehtolos of course is a proud person. How could he not be, but that doesn't mean he lacks empathy or compassion. Ehtolos's pride stems from the fact that he is a Prince, and believes that in order to earn this pride, to be the pinnacle of society a Royal must always keep their word. Whether it be a simple promise, or an oath. If one is to presume themselves better than another, they must exhibit the proper traits. So Ehtolos holds himself, and all members of his family to this singular standard, for to break your word is the worst sin a Royal can commit, and to do so means you are not one to be looked up to by the common class. While he means no harm, many people can see this trait, and attribute it to sheer arrogance, but how it is perceived is up to the observer.
Ehtolos doesn't lack for compassion despite how he may come off. The point of his journey was to learn about all the people that he would one day govern. To build friends in distant lands so that when he became King one day, those who looked upon would know that the King had lowered himself to their level, and lived amongst them as one of their one rather than holing himself up in a castle made of stone, and never seeing them eye to eye. To have the divine right to rule, is to understand ones subjects, and Ehtolos strove to do that for the past seven years on his journey. He learned many different traditions, and customs, never once thinking himself as above them as he lived among them. And in doing so he learned the true hardships that people face, and how they overcome them on a day to day basis. How a father mourns the loss of his son, how a village comes together to defend one another from any threat. Ehtolos saw the will to survive, and do better in the people of his land, and in return that only made him want to do better as well.
That compassion also breeds empathy within the young prince. He also doesn't shy away from the consequences of his actions either. If a prank gets him in trouble he takes the scolding, and if a plan costs the life of another, he shoulders the blame. Such is the burden of royalty. People pray to the gods because they can't meet them, and thus it is the duty of someone who wants to be king to shoulder the blame that people put on him, even if it feels unjust. To own responsibility for ones actions, and understand where the words, and feelings come from that is his duty, and why he chose to live as he did.
Despite all the genuine sincerity he feels, the Prince does have a rebellious, and spontaneous streak. Often thinking of things he wants to do, and experience at the drop of a hat, and there are very few who can reign him in when he decides to just "go for a walk" as he puts it. Whether that entails investigating old ruins, or actually going on a walk it depends on the day, but many people over the years have learned, that when he decides on something he does. No hesitation, or fooling around, he will pull playful pranks, or interfere in a situation if he feels it is necessary, without any prompting. As free as the wind, he has no tethers to the conventional rules if he thinks there is a better way.
As the Prince has been gone from his home for so long he isn't close to any of his family you could say. Though that doesn't mean he loves them any less. There are rumors that after some particular incident the Prince disavowed his own mother, and when she passed he even refused to return home to attend her funeral. Only returning briefly for his fathers ceremony before departing again without a word to any of his siblings.
