Snowpeak Shenanigans || Twili Event [c]

In the absolute cold of the tundra-like Snowpeak, few animals had the pep or verve to manage the biting cold and the exhausting trudge through waist-deep snow.

Unless one comes from the family of the Mustelids, a tough, carnivorous family of mammals, through who’s adaptivity paved the way to prominence in many ecospheres. They were lighter on their feet, capable of navigating through deep, snowy conditions that larger mammals would shy from during an exceptionally harsh winter.

Today was different. Perpetual dusk blanketed the land, it’s purpose unknown to the animals that hibernated in safe hovels. What’s more is that Snowpeak was unusually… busy today.

Three shadowy creatures lumbered across a bowl-like valley. They shoved along effortlessly through the snow, not minding the bitter cold, nor discerning the exertion made with each stride.

There wasn't a more fitting description to give of these creatures.

Shadow Beasts.

The trio of monsters trudged on, stopping only when they arrived at a large, bowl-like valley with a single tower of rock and metal piercing the sky.

Perhaps curiosity or sheer malevolence pushed the beasts on the advance, and one began to climb the sheer cliff as they drew near.

... Wot?

It came as a surprise to Tess. One moment, she was holding a box of metal scraps with her hands, and in a suddenly twinge of gut-wrenching pain, the amber curtain had taken effect upon her body...

But she did not feel terror or dismay like those who became spirits, nor did she fall unconscious from the agony. Rage overflowed the small mass of fur as she began to realize what had happened to her.

In a near-frenzy, the creature ambled awkwardly toward a mirror-like piece of metal, and upon seeing herself, she unleashed a blood-curdling roar.

"WOT TH' BLOODY 'ELL IS THIIIIIIISSS?!"

The door of the tower swung open with a slam, and the interior of that door, once a pristine surface, was covered in scratches.

The beast dove out onto the snowy mesa, snarling all the while.

She had become a wolverine. Without her asking for it.

The sound of scraping hands brought her near to the edge of the cliff, where the Shadow Beast suddenly crawled over the side. In her fury, Tess ambled toward the monster, swinging her claws this way and that.

"YOU'LL REGRET COMIN' TA MAH PLACE, YA' MULLY-WAGGIN'...!!!"

Alas, before she knew it, the Shadow Beast reached down and effortlessly flung the wolverine from the mesa. Tess then crashed upon a tree, not far from where a little weasel bustled through, causing the built-up snow to fall down along with her, and landing upside down in the snow.

Still, for such a creature of vitality, she got up with a long gasp and cradled her head in her hands.

"O, me achin'..."
