[TR] The Bird Is The Word

Eris hesitated a moment, staring at the curtain. He had begun to have doubts about the situation, though he did his best to suppress them. Still, the thoughts were there. What was he really doing here anyways? He barely had any offensive magics, and he felt he would be soon in over his head. Still, he had come this far, right? He had to try.

*"I'm ready," the bird said, more confidently than he felt. His mind went back to the words Ursula had spoken to him, about fighting to defend his people. "Will you endeavor to protect the weak, or shall you flee for your own life?"

She had told Eris he may have to fight to defend his people, and though he sti didn't feel capable, he had to at least try, right?

Eris watched his new companion step through the boundary between worlds, and after a deep breath, headed in himself. Immediately after entering, his eyes were drawn to the alien surroundings, but before he was able to fully comprehend the sights, a cry of pain distracted him.

The bird watched in horror as the goron shifted into what seemed to be... a bear? Eris only looked away as a spike of pain went through him, and he cried out as well, more surprised than hurt. He felt his body shrinking, melting into a form that felt not unfamiliar.

Unlike the Goron, Eris was somewhat used to being a bird, though the world seemed so much... smaller. When he noticed their enemies were approaching, he chirped in surprise and tried to run away. Unfortunately, his tiny legs didn't go very fast. Maybe he could..?

With a few flaps of his wings, he found himself flying! He couldn't really explain how he knew to do it, but something about this form made it come naturally to him. He trilled excitedly, temporarily distracted from the situation at hand. He could finally fly!

Oh right, enemies were approaching! Eris turned his attention back to the situation at hand, observing his now-ursine companion mauling the Wolfos. His new form was one clearly incapable of physical combat, so he would have to rely on his usual talent (assuming it still worked in this land of twilight): magic. He concentrated for a moment, adjusting his usual magic to compensate for his new form, and unleashed a blast of shimmering, radiant energy at the Wolfos Dorzuma had tossed away, smiting it.

That was a stronger spell than he thought he could do! His training seemed to have paid off, or maybe there was something about this place that helped. Well, no time to dwell on it now. The bird dived at the other Wolfos and scratched at its eyes, hoping to give the bear a window to strike. If it failed, though, he wasn't exactly in a good position. He would just have to hope that Dorzuma was able to at least push the other one back.

With the immediate threat dealt with, Eris rested on the ground for a moment, inspecting what he could see of his bird body. It was a bizarre sensation to have transformed in this way, and he still didn't know how he could fly, but it was one he would quickly have to get used to.

His attention was returned to the situation at hand when he heard Dorzuma's voice. It took him a moment to realize the voice had come from inside his head, and not from any discernable external force.

"Oh! We can talk like this!" He replied, somehow realizing he could do the same.

"We... we should follow them, right?" Eris queried, taking a moment to confirm their objective before he took off after the magical lights.
