His home was in danger. And he would stop at nothing to protect it.

He had been fortunate in a sense, that he and Selene had taken a trip out of the village when the Curtain had hit. The reports had stopped them from returning, well that and the order that forbade him from trying without explicit permission. The Queen had foreseen his and Selene’s potentially running back to the village to take on the monsters and the Curtain themselves, and had intervened. But now he had been assigned a teammate and had free reign to go after the Tears of Light in Ordon Village.

He and Ichika had taken Cabuck and rode there at full speed. Not knowing what lay behind the Curtain, he had decided to leave Cabuck behind a little ways from it. If it was that they could not return, then at the least the soldiers could return Cabuck to Selene.

The Curtain stood before them, and he couldn’t help but gulp slightly at the sight of it. Considering it had nearly swallowed them up before, it wasn’t a sight he wanted to see again. And now they were going to step into it. And who knows what would happen to them within?

Ichika stares at the wall of simmering darkness before them, The curtain gave off a similar feeling to the darkness of the magic she often emplyed in combat. While that darkness felt like the bottom of the ocean, all consuming and blacker than the darkest midnight. This felt different though, it was more neutral, more muted, les potent. Like twilight, she thought. She doubted that made it any less dangerous, just that the nature of the threat was different. "Of course, we ought not to waste time fretting over what dangers could be before us, this realms influence on our world could increase at any moment." She draws her sword. "I'm going in. We don't know what will happen once we go in, but if anything happens to me, don't try to save me, just inform the higher-ups and come up with a new plan." she says, knowing that a "no man left behind" mentality would be detrimental to the mission, and they could not afford to fail here.

“If something happens to you, I’ll just have to drag you back” he answered calmly, in opposition to her mandate that he leave her there if she got in trouble. That wasn’t his thing, and she was going to have to accept that. So with that, he took a deep breath as he stepped into the twilight.

The air was thinner here, and everything smelled terrible. He could already tell he was going to have a hard time breathing in here. And it seemed that the environment matched the smell. The edge of Faron Woods looked like a hellscape, and he could already see monsters in the distance. Mutated, dark creatures that would likely notice them before long, the hideous things.

But before he could draw his sword, he stopped dead. Within moments, he felt like his insides were being torn out of his chest. His body was changing, and it was painful. He clenched his right fist, as if hoping that the Triforce may shield him from this dark magic.

If it helped any, he didn’t know. But all he knew was that his form had changed. It had taken the shape of a golden wolf with black fur across the head and belly. His Crest mark had found itself a spot on his head. There wasn’t exactly any words that could describe being turned into an animal, and he just looked towards Ichika as if praying he could be aided.

She scowls and steps in after him. The fool could not set his feelings aside to get the job done, he took pride in a moral code unfit for war, and so he could not be trusted. Her thoughts of scolding him are soon interrupted by a searing pain to her forehead. As she winces and goes to put her hand to her head, she realizes her hand is not a hand...but a paw. She had transformed into some sort of black panther, with silver white markings on her body. Josh, she noticed, had also been changed into an animal, and she then noticed the crest displayed prominently on his head. How the hell did someone like him earn the blessing of the triforce? she wondered briefly before turning her attention back to her new form. Being an animal felt... different. She felt much more flexible than when she was human, which was impressive given her lifelong training as an assasin, but the most noticeable improvement was her vision. She could see much better than expected, despite the pitch darkness, and her better eyesight then alerted her to the monstrous shapes all around them. If they did not move soon they would be spotted. She goes to whisper to him, only to remember that her mouth is incapable of human speech, and resorts to tapping his led and gesturing over in a direction almost free of monsters.

To not leave a comrade behind was to fight with honor, in his eyes. If you could trust your comrade with your life, you could fight without worry. To inspire confidence in those around you, to trust one another in a way that would allow you to fight together at your best. That was the way of the knight, in his eyes. And besides, it wasn’t all honorable mumbo jumbo. Doing your best to preserve the life of your comrades meant your unit wouldn’t take a hit in manpower. And to have the best soldiers around, and alive, was the best thing for one’s liege.

Of course, he also understood sometimes there was no choice. He wasn’t that naive. But unlike Ichika, it was something that he would prevent with all his might if he could.

Speaking of Ichika, she had now become a panther as well. Well, this was weird. He tried to speak, but found he had no voice. But despite that, she was still able to hear his words.

“Well, this is a problem.”

She instead tapped his head and motioned to the monsters. Right, they were also a problem. He tried to take a step but instantly fell forward, not used to walking on four legs. And, either the Twilight Realm had color dilution, or he did. He could still see it, but… It was weird. And a lot darker. Yet, he could still see further than he used to be able to.

Three bokoblins, mutated and twisted by the Twilight, would see them and begin to make a bead for them. Hearing them coming, he tried his best to adjust to his new shape as quickly as he could. Walking on four legs was a lot like crawling, right? But a human crawling was slow and clunky. So trying to do the same in an animal’s body felt like going from being a turtle to a horse. He fell forward again, unable to properly handle the speed and agility of a wolf at first. But he would get up a little faster this time.

Ichika is surprised by hearing the voice of Josh echo in her head. Apparently this realm was a lot more ethereal than it was physical, and operated by different rules, which was to be expected, but not this extent. "Get ready, we'll have to fight them, at least until we can find an opening to make a run for it." she says, or rather, thinks to him. She was also having difficulty moving in her new body, slumping to the side as she got used to balancing her weight on four limbs instead of two, but she recovered quickly, her agility training able to easily transition to the Panthers naturally agile body. She gets on all fours and snarls at the approaching bokoblins. She could tell that they were still bokoblins, but the darkness had changed them, like some form of horrific parasite. She decided that she and Josh were lucky to be only transformed into animals. With a great yowl she tackles a bokoblin and tears a chunk out of its neck. The blow is not fatal, owing to her inexperience with her new form, and she leaps away to avoid an attack from its ally. She spits out the flesh instead of swallowing it. Although she had eaten bokoblin flesh on long missions before, she did not trust that the darkness had not poisoned it. For all she knew, they may not even need food in such a spiritual plane.

“Ichy, I have no idea if I’m going to be able to move in this body, much less fight” came the sass. Yes, the formalities were out the window in an emergency. He was straight up stuck in a body he didn’t know how to use with monsters bearing down upon them. Speaking of monsters, Ichika would immediately try to tear the throat off one. Well, that was one way to do it. She seemed to be struggling far less than he had. Were Sheikah trained to fight on their knees or something? Questions for later, for the bokoblin-like things were upon them.

Well, he would just have to fight like he was forced to his knees. Trying to do his best to curl up a fist, he would try and throw a punch. The creature would reel back, holding its scratched up chest. Oh right, canines had claws. Though this body had big ones. What kind of creature even was he? He had figured it to be some kind of dog, judging by the paws. But the idea he had become a wolf wasn’t clear until he nearly took the heart out of the creature. Well, claws would have to do.

Rolling forward, he would follow up with his claws, hitting it again with a more lethal blow to fell it. But a third was still on Ichika, and he would move to intercept it. Mostly by rolling. At least until he could figure out how to run on four legs.

She snarls as she hears the nickname. "Say that again and the bokoblins won't be the only thing im about to kill" she promises as she slices another bokoblin along the chest, though not deep enough to seriously injure it. Her new body was fast, much faster than her human body ever could be, and she was not used to how swiftly her limbs responded to her commands, it threw her off constantly. Ironically, she felt sluggish despite her unnatural speed. Even so, she knew that she still had better control over herself than Josh, who comically had to resort to rolling in order to move. She pounces on a Bokoblin who had weapon raised, ready to bring it down on Josh's spine. She pins the monster down and manages to break its neck after some difficulty. Once she does so, she feels a sabbing pain in her side and looks back to see the feathered end of an arrow poking out from her flesh. She snarls and ducks behind a tree as she waits for another moment to strike. Thankfully the arrow had not damaged her legs, and the wound was not deep enough to be fatal. Even so, she was furious at herself of getting hit by such a clumsy creature. "Be sure to keep tabs on the bastard with the bow" she warns before charging towards another bokoblin.

He rolled his eyes at her threat. She wasn’t much of a team player, was she? But while she had a natural affinity towards this body in comparison to him, there was one thing that Josh Dragelion could do. And that was learn fast. Rolling first to dodge another arrow, he would catch himself on all fours at the end of the roll and barrel himself into the monster with the bow, knocking it out of their hands as he quickly finished them off with bared teeth.

The last bokoblin was Ichika’s opponent, and Josh had to consider his options. After a moment, he decided to try to see if he could use magic. But he didn’t know until the last moment that it was being fired from a different place entirely. The Crest spot on his forehead would glow red before launching fireballs at the bokoblin. This time with proper accuracy, thanks to him realizing at the last second where it was coming from.

Before she could reach her target a ball of fire slams into its chest and the monster dies in a howl of agony, the smell of its charred skin wafting up from the corpse. She turns to face him in surprise, confused for a second as to how he managed to conjure that, before realizing the faint afterglow from the crest on his forehead. "It seems you've been blessed by the triforce, thats good for you, but don't let it get to your head." she warns. In her opinion, being granted power through bloodline or by being chosen by a higher power foolish. The recipient should have to earn the right to such a gift, and not doing so was a fast track to becoming egotistical. "Anyway, we had better try to locate the village or some other landmark to use as a reference point, though entering the village will likley be suicidal at the moment, as the enemy are bound to be most concentrated there" she adds before looking off in the direction the enemy came for, to see if she could spot a camp or reinforcements.

He had begun to learn how to walk on all fours, though he was still a bit clumsy in his movements at first. But when she mentioned the village, it was a sound reminder of why he was here in the first place. “I doubt the enemy has any camps in the woods. They’ll just be scattered around. By the formation of that first lot, they appear to just be scattered beasts, not an overly intelligent, unified force” he brought up in response. He watched as the foes they had just slain would disappear, and bright orbs would rise from where they once stood. When the wolf would touch the orbs, they would be absorbed into his body.

“These must be the Tears of Light we were sent to collect” he brought up. “If the enemy is most concentrated in Ordon, we may be best off sneaking in and taking them by surprise. We have to go there eventually, and the longer we wait, the more likely there are to be innocent casualties.”

He hadn’t stopped walking, not wanting to waste a moment that could be used to practice getting used to this form. He needed to be ready to haul himself full speed to Ordon the first moment he could. He needed to see if his family had been there, and if so, if they had gotten out in time.
