 | Ophelia wouldn't go so far as to call the ice a friend of hers. With ice came an environment that nipped at her nose and encouraged crops - among other things - to an early death. Yet it was this very same ice that brought forth some of her fondest memories; gripping desperately to her brothers as they pulled her onto unsteady skates, her little face damp from tears and reddened from the cold. That had been the cycle: fear of falling developing into budding confidence that was quickly met with a forced stop. Ice wasn't all year around, of course. Ophelia hadn't enjoyed the sport since she was taken and, as she eyed the stretch of ice before her, she fought to keep her expression neutral. When exactly was the last time she skated? Had it not been for the invitation, she would've been happy to have left it as the last time. People watching had been enough to fulfill her. Until she saw the smiling faces of her brother and Selene. Despite everything they went through in their recent battle - Selene especially - they were still smiling and enjoying themselves. They hadn't forgotten. Surely they still suffered an healing wound or two. But it hadn't curbed their joy. She couldn't help but covet their capability for that. Envy to admiration, the emotions she lost herself in moments ago melted into one desire to join them - to simply join in the festivities and fun. The young woman picked at the invisible flecks of dust on her woolen dress. There was nothing stopping her from skating with them, truthfully, but one could call it self-serving.
