Awakening [Auron & Aurora]

Oron observed the bears go about their business quietly. Drinking some water and then, as expected, they began to snap into the water in an attempt to grab some fishes. The mama seemed to almost be trying to show the cubs how to do it. Eventually, some fishes were acquired by the bears. That was when it was time to spring into action. "We need to grab at least one or two of the fishes. Preferably if the bears get away from the fish... Then we have to get back to the camp." Oron would move his arm around to form a Wind Orb before tossing it near the bears. He had no intention of actually hurting them. Just startling them and making them drop the fish. They were somewhat hidden so the bears might not fully realize what was happening. They may or may not be met with a grueling chase if the bears do figure something out, but that's where Oron's innate affinity comes into play... "Are you ready? We'll be moving soon..." Oron just had to see what happened from here...

Well. That worked out surprisingly easily. The bear and her cubs simply ran off with some of the fish while also dropping some in the process. This was the best case scenario in his mind for this situation... Oron certainly needed that sometimes... Oron slowly looked back towards Aurora... Who was now actually smiling. Oron lightly smiled back before glancing away awkwardly. That was a nice sight to see. Already showing some minor signs of 'improvement'... "Heh. There's a smile... Anyways. We got some food now." Oron would then walk over and pick up a fish (or possibly two). "Let's go back now." With that all taken care of, Oron began to lead the way back to the camp... Hopefully they weren't gone for too long.

Just a matter of retracing their steps now...

So their trek back to the camp continued on pretty uneventfully... He did hear the sound of her stomach growling, but this was going to take a little while. Once they returned, Oron would set down one of the fishes. Luckily things were about as he left them. He needed to start a new fire and put together some means to cook fish over it as he did not have anything to cook them in on hand right now... He only now realized that Aurora had grabbed... A lot of them. Probably more than they'd actually need... This was going to take awhile because there would be no use in the fishes going to waste... "Alright. It is good that you did not immediately try to eat them. Fish is something that you have to use fire to make good to eat. It also needs to be... Cut open first. The gray part, the 'scales', have to be taken off. Then the 'insides' removed from the pink parts." Oron was not entirely sure how to properly explain gutting a fish and getting the bones out, but he was trying his best. Oron would take his sword out of its sheath on his back... He has gotten pretty good at using a sword for this stuff in place of any knives...

Oron, thus, would take the time to actually show Aurora how to prepare a fish. He'd make sure she could do it right before going to get some more wood... Or whatever else he could use for a fire in the area.

Oron just watched her follow his lead and... He looked rather surprised at how deft she was at using her sword. It was just for cutting up a fish as if the sword was a giant knife, but he had a feeling that if they did run into trouble at some point, she likely would instinctively know how to fend off any threats... Truly remarkable... He supposed he was lucky that he found her and not someone who would take advantage of her confusion and skill... The fish looked fine to cook and she looked rather happy and proud of getting it prepared. Oron lightly smiled. "Well done." Oron walked over to the lake and would briefly dunk his sword into it before drying it off. "We need to go get some wood now so we can make a fire and put together something to cook the fish on." Oron would likely figure something out for that... Luckily most fish don't take very long to cook.

With that, Oron would lead the way to pick up some sticks, twigs, leaves, dry grass, whatever he would need to reignite a fire. Oron would also lead the way to pick up some decently sized rocks with one of them being a bit flatter. He had an idea of how to create a sort of makeshift cooking surface... Maybe he found some herbs to put on the fish to make them taste better too because why not? Iron Chef Oron.

... This was making him realize that he probably should really try to get some extra supplies for cooking. He'd usually just 'borrow' pots that monsters would be using at their own camps because most pots were a little too large to try and carry around as they wouldn't fit in the opening to his magic pouch... Regardless. The quirky duo would eventually pick up everything they needed. It was now a matter of setting everything up... He cleared the ashes from the previous fire and whatever him and Aurora acquired, he would have them set up the tinder in the middle of a circle of rocks. He'd also try and set up a sort of 'stone grill' to cook the fish on above where the fire would be. He then picked up a flint rock that he had been carrying with him and with his sword, he'd slide the metal blade along the rock, which created sparks that would eventually light up the fire with the tinder.

Everything was set up now... Oron would then pick up the fishes and carefully plop them down on the flat rock that would serve as the cooking surface.

Oron kept an eye on the fish. Luckily, it seemed his arrangement paid off and the fish fillets were actually being cooked. Aurora seemed almost enthralled by the process. It was a truly childlike wonder of the world around her. Hopefully things will eventually start to come back to her, but at least she was enjoying herself in the moment. An innocent sort of ignorance... Amusing too. Just a little bit... He was going to have to leave the area at some point. It looked like she was going to be traveling with him given that she had nowhere to go... In the meanwhile, Oron had carefully used his sword to flip the fishes over so the other side would be cooked properly as well.

Oron laid down some larger leaves that he picked up on the way as well... He had to improvise a bit as this situation was pretty new for him. He had to think a bit on the fly... Thus, the leaves are the plates for the fish. Oron looked back at the fish after Aurora asked about if they were ready. Oron would poke at the fish to see how they felt. "... Just a little bit longer." She was slowly coming around to speaking more it looked like.

... After a few more minutes, Oron carefully would lift the fishes onto the two leaves that were serving as improvised plates. "They are ready to eat now. They are still really hot so we'll need to wait a bit so they don't burn your mouth." Oron himself was now feeling pretty hungry from the process of getting everything put together for the meal. Hopefully it all paid off.
