Full Name: Mira Kakari
Alias: n/a
Age: 20
Birthday: Spring
Race: Hylian
Occupation: Soldier
Pronouns: he/him
School of Magic: Farore
[attr="class","section"]appearance
Mira stands at 6'1", with an athlete's lean, muscular build and the telltale pointed ears of a Hylian. His hair is a pale blonde, cut messily yet with an apparent purposeful attempt at keeping it decently short. His eyes are a clear crystal blue, and he possesses a certain softness to his features that betray his relative youth despite his very insistent attempts at coming across as a well-worn warrior.
When not adorned in the armor and coat of arms signifying his position as a member of the Hyrule military corps, Mira dresses in a manner that shows that a fair bit of budget has been afforded for his outfits. High-quality fabrics, top-end dyes to give bright whites, deep blacks and vibrant blues, all done up in a manner that shows that he is quite conscious not only of fashion, but of his general appearance. He particularly enjoys his blue and white coats, and tends to wear them over the rest of his ensemble whenever possible, even adding it on top of his armor if given the ability to.
He wields a longsword that, contrary to his armor and what one might assume from his position, is far from standard issue military gear. A weapon forged by a skilled blacksmith, intentionally made to invoke the imagery of the legendary Master Sword - anyone could tell that the weapon that Mira wields is of course not the Sword of Evil's Bane, but the shimmering silver of the blade, the deep blue of the hilt and guard and the warm amber of the decorative gems inserted in the pommel and on the cross make the inspiration very obvious. It is Mira's most prized possession, and one will often find him caring for it, tending to its edge with a portable whetstone or cleaning it to remove moisture or battle stains.
[attr="class","section"]personality
More than anything else, Mira is an individual that is defined by passion. He has always been an emotional person, and the foremost emotions in this young man are ambition and a burning, indefatigable desire to be a hero. As someone that has grown up on stories of knights and legendary heroes and has fully embraced the myth-centric culture of Hyrule, Mira has decided to hold himself up to the example set by those heroes. He wants to do good in the world, he wants to make the land and its people feel safer, he wants to slay great beasts and to save lives. Now, this does come from a place of genuine altruism - in these dangerous times, Mira is willing to put himself in harm's way to make sure that others don't have to, he loves his fellow Hylians and wishes to see all of them safe, happy and content, and if that means that someone has to beat back the darkness lurking in Hyrule's corners to keep that darkness away from them? Well, he believes that he could be the person to do that. He is an idealist, and someone who possesses a powerful need to protect that which he holds dear.
But, this also comes with some problems. Again, Mira's mentality originates from a place of admiring the heroes of old, particularly the stories told about them. And in those stories, there is always a clearly defined, cut down the middle "good" and "evil." With this kind of simplicity coloring his worldview, Mira has a tendency to view the world in strong blacks and whites. He has a bad habit of defaulting to simple solutions to complex problems, and he very rarely stops to consider his actions in deeper detail. That which is good is often, to Mira, wholly good and deserves nothing but his best, but similarly that which is bad is wholly bad, pure evil which deserves nothing but his worst. It is a kind of naivety but, more than that, a form of moral absolutism that can lead to a certain amount of sanctimony when combined with his aforementioned passionate nature that is often tied to a short temper and, when running hot, irrational behavior.
This is perhaps Mira's greatest failing. Is not at all a bad person. He is brave, he is selfless, he is considerate and he does everything that he does out of a completely genuine desire to make the world the best that it can be, but what he fails to realize is that while he might attempt to mold himself after the perfect role models of the heroes of old, Mira himself is not perfect. As already mentioned he is short-tempered, and he can often be unreasonable when suitably emotional. He holds himself to the classic virtues of knightly chivalry, primarily honor, honesty, bravery and humility, but he fails at that last step without even realizing it. He thinks of himself as humble and down to earth, but there is a certain vanity that runs through Mira's being. His black and white moral worldview has resulted in him viewing himself as a force of absolute good in the world, he has titled himself as a protagonist of a story, which is not something that someone does without a certain amount of ego. He cares greatly about how other people view him, and will sometimes subconsciously do things for the sake of public approval, rather than it necessarily being the truly right thing. He preens and cares carefully for his appearance, because at the end of the day he wants to be admired. He wants to be put on a pedestal in the same way that he himself puts the heroes before him on a pedestal and while this does not make any of his genuinely good traits any less true, it means that he is in truth doing what he is doing as much for himself as he is for everyone else.
But, this same headstrong and stubborn nature means that he will never stop fighting the good fight. He might stumble along the way, he might make mistakes due to his own shortcomings and he might not be the shining beacon of heroism that he hopes to be (or that his subconscious pride might have convinced a part of him that he already is) but this does not make his truly virtuous traits any less virtuous. Mira Kakari is someone that will fight for his beliefs until the bitter end, and in these tumultuous times, maybe that is exactly what Hyrule needs.
[attr="class","section"]abilities
Physical Conditioning - The combination of military drills, regular training and a rigorous exercise regiment on his free time. Mira is strong, fast and durable, possessing all of the athleticism that one would expect from a professional warrior.
Swordsmanship - Mira's skill with the blade is a combination of the standard training that all Hyrule soldiers get and specialized lessons that he has bought from esteemed teachers throughout the lands, combined with ample amounts of practice on his own that have lead to a fair few self-taught quirks. The result is that he is a highly proficient duelist and swordfighter, and anyone with a familiarity with the blade would be able to recognize him for a more than capable fighter after only a few moments of watching him fight.
Bolt Rider - The result of his innate Farore-School magic, which has only grown more powerful as Mira has continued to practice with it. He has discovered that he is able to jump multiple times in the air, leaping from spot to spot in midair for a kind of janky "flight." Every time that he performs one of these "double jumps," one would be able to notice that he lets loose a small burst of magical energy, similar in aesthetics to a burst of electricity although completely harmless.
Magic - Mira is a Farore mage by birth and, as his ambitions for heroism have grown, he has made sure to use his fortunate position to obtain as many tomes and scrolls on the subject as he could, not to mention find the most capable mentors for him to learn from willing to lend their services. The result is that Mira is considered an Apprentice-level mage, with a particular knack for the electric side of Farore magic. He has currently mastered the spells Minor Spark, Shock Bolt, Electrotrap, Lightning Snap and Electric Gauntlet.
Courage - Simply put, Mira possesses a tremendous amount of willpower. This isn't always the best thing, as it has lead him to stubbornly stick to more than one mistake in the past, but it also makes him resistant (but not immune) to intimidation or terror attempts, and makes him more resistant to abilities that cause magical fear.
[attr="class","section"]background
Honestly, there is not really terribly much of note to say about Mira's background. Perhaps that lack of anything notable is what lead him to take to the path of the warrior to begin with. He was born in an undeniable position of privilege, the son of a very successful merchant couple with great a many rupees between them. He learned the tools of the trade early but more importantly, he learned the legends. Coming across entertainers, storytellers and other sources of stories great or small was his main source of distraction from the mundane life of business growing up, and it imprinted on him hard. He was nine years old when he first fashioned himself a wooden sword by carving away at a Deku Stick, swinging it around as he imagined himself the Hero of the Skies, slaying the Primordial Evil from eons past.
As soon as he was of age to leave his parents behind he did so immediately without hesitation, taking the largest wallet that he could get his hands on and every last of his rupees that his family had given him. They would be well, he convinced himself. He had a greater destiny to chase.
He soon ended up in Hyrule Town, which is where he began his training. He used the funds that he had brought with him for great a many things, all to hone himself into the perfect image that he aspired towards - swordsmasters to teach him the ways of the blade, the most skilled blacksmith that he could find to give him a weapon suitable for those skills, any mage willing to lend their services for money to teach him the ways of sorcery to further enhance his abilities. Mira's goal was exceptionalism, and he got closer and closer to it for every day that passed. Seeing it as the easiest path to where he needed to be, he would soon thereafter join the Hyrule military corps as a recruit, where his preexisting training helped him greatly, and he soon became a rank and file soldier of note, where he has been positioned since, though he is convinced that this entry position is not long for him. Darkness was coming, a new time of legends were upon them, and he had decided that he would be at the forefront of all of it.
He could not wait.
