Flazzle is exactly what comes to mind when one imagines a wizard, though perhaps less grey, less wrinkled. He has all the staples of an up and coming magician: high-minded, aloof, a bit strange, and possessing a certain flair for the dramatic. First and foremost, he considers himself a scientist, albeit one of magical nature. With lofty ideals, he seeks out "the greater truth", some spell or incantation that will grant him a comprehensive understanding of the fabric of the universe. It's all very technical, complicated stuff! He would not expect most folk to understand.
That said, as focussed as he is on his "great truth", Flazzle has absolutely no sense or respect when it comes to practical magic. Humdrum, day-to-day matters are of little interest to him when the secrets of the occult remain to be unravelled. Sure, he could mend a smashed pot in a pinch or summon a gout of fresh drinking water, but what good is that? The material world is ephemeral. Knowledge is eternal. He is painfully naïve when it comes to the needs of common people (having come from a wealthy background himself) or even himself. He has a complete lack of awareness on how most the world functions and would prefer to keep it that way. His research is hard enough as it is without earthly distractions. Though not deliberately pretentious, he is often dismissive towards those less versed in the arcane.
He is either too much or too little in social settings. Never having made many friends beyond the books of his mage-work
Melodramatic wizard who lives on Euffie’s property. Rented it out because it’s cheap. Allergic to cuccoos. Originally began experimentation on them to cure his allergies. Developed a fondness for them and now sees them as research potential.
Sloppy. Not used to taking care of things himself. Enchants brooms to clean and whatnot. The brooms are not totally effective however, in that they mostly just push dirt into different corners.
Content to be doing his own thing. Doesn’t mind doing “boring” practical spells for money, but sees them as insignificant and is more about “unravelling the secrets of the universe”.
Often does not recognise danger -- just sees it as a learning opportunity! Often gets headaches because of eye strain and doesn’t realise he needs glasses.

Comfortably upper middle class. Family runs a bank in castle town. Very profitable, respectable business. Often sent to visit his aunt, a witch, who was the black sheep of the family. Developed an interest in magic thanks to her. Apprenticed under her for a few summers learning hedge magic, before applying to a magical academy, much to the anxiety of his parents. After completing his degree he went back to live at home and practise magical experiments. Parents eventually kicked him out to motivate him to get a real job. Two younger sisters named Flizzle and Floo, both of who bully him.
