Dragelix, the Sword of Dinraal
Dragelix, the Sword of Dinraal
Wielder: Josh Dragelion
Affiliation: Royal Family of Hyrule, Land of Termina (Formerly), Kingdom of Labrynna (Formerly)
Description: A longsword forged many eons ago by the Gorons of Death Mountain during the Era of the Minish, for a knight who went by Oromis Dragelion. Oromis was one of Hyrule's greatest knights, and the sword was a gift commissioned by the King of Hyrule to commemorate his bravery and service to the kingdom. Dubbed "Dragelix", the blade was apparently infused with one of Dinraal's scales that Oromis had retrieved during an encounter with the fabled dragon, and the sword itself was designed with this in mind. The blade had a red and orange hue, said to mimic the fires unleashed by Dinraal and its kind. For Oromis, who was gifted in the art of Din magic, the sword fit him perfectly. Its pommel has a blue gemstone placed within, and the hilt is meant to resemble dragon's scales. The guard is painted with a golden color and a constructed in a shape meant to mimic a dragon's wings. When the sword is lit aflame with magic, the blade itself glows in a blazing red and orange, creating a terrifying sight for the wielder's enemies.
In his elder years, Oromis would fight his last battle when he unsuccessfully challenged Vaati during the dark wizard's invasion of Hyrule. While a man once called the Blazing Blade of Hyrule may have been mighty in his heyday, and was powerful even now, none could stop Vaati and he was turned to stone with the others. When his body was restored, Oromis saw this as the tell that his time on the field of battle had come to an end. He passed the sword Dragelix to his son, and it became tradition for the sword to be passed down from parent to child when the parent's time on the battlefield was over. The sword was held by many warriors over the years, and at some point came into the possession of the Knight of Labrynna Segnorus Dragelion. Segnorus had been said to have used the sword in a decisive battle for Labrynna's safety, when a rogue army of monsters threatened to take the capital city. It was he who led a squad and took them down by their lonesome.
Upon his retirement and untimely death, the sword was taken by his son Josh Dragelion, who later wielded it in battles throughout Termina and later returning the sword to its original homeland of Hyrule, becoming a Knight himself just as his ancestor had. While the sword had become worn and dull with use, the Gorons of Death Mountain were able to repair it with the same kind of Goron steel that it had been forged with originally, and tempered it to be stronger than ever before.
