[attr="class","header"]Welcome to the Arbiter's Grounds
[attr="class","section"]Winter, Year 02
An army of monsters, empowered by a dark aura that seemed not of this world and led by a man claimed to be of the Twili, had struck Hyrule time and time again. They had perpetrated the massacre known as the Starlight Tragedy, laid siege to Zora's Domain and had had almost completely destroyed Kakariko Village during the Battle of Eldin.
Now, the time had finally come for Hyrule's forces to strike back and go on the offensive. Aided by the advice of Shigamarsu, a man who claimed to be a Sage, the combined forces of Hyrule's diverse factions were able to obtain the three lost shards of the Mirror of Twilight. A task that came at great cost, but with hope that if they could end the war, their sacrifices may be honored. In hopes of bringing this to an end once and for all, Hyrule's forces would converge on the Arbiter's Grounds.
- This event will take place throughout the course of two sets of threads. Each has a different style, so make sure to read their descriptions before signing up.
- Only one character may be entered into this event per writer. This may be amended depending on how the teams turn out.
- Event threads do not have a set posting order.
- Sign up by posting in this thread. See below for the sign-up template. Sign-ups will close on October 5th at the end of the day, which will be approximately 11:59PM PT. Feel free to consult Staff to figure out what this equates to in your own timezone.
Format: Dungeon thread. Up to six participants. First-come, first served.
Dungeon Master: Fish
Aided by the Grand Army of Hyrule, the violent sandstorm created by the enemy forces would be dispelled, and the army guarding the Arbiter's Grounds dungeon entrance would be open for a small team to infiltrate. This dungeon-running team's goal is to take the shards of the Mirror of Twilight to the Mirror Chamber at the top of the building itself. Once there, the team is to place the shards back into the Mirror, which should open a way for them to enter the Twilight Realm.
After seeing their effects during the efforts to find the shards, the best mages from the University of Magic have placed them into a bag with a magic seal to prevent their dark powers from bringing harm to the party. But getting to the Mirror Chamber won't be easy. The Arbiter's Grounds was a prison built to house Hyrule's most ruthless criminals while they awaited trial, execution, or exile to the Twilight Realm. Before it was abandoned, hundreds of traps were enacted in order to prevent prisoners from escaping, and in the time since its abandonment, the enemy has made this prison their own personal stronghold.
There is no telling what you will find here, and you will not have any support from the outside. Tread carefully.
- Sign-ups for this dungeon are on a first-come, first-served basis. The first six to sign up for the dungeon will take part. This will be capped at six people, but any who are unable to participate can still take part in the Battle in the Twisted Sand.
- The Dungeon Master (DM) controls all situations, layouts, and NPCs, and will provide the players with the appropriate results to their actions.
- Your time limit for posting is 4 days from the DM’s post. If you do not post within the time limit, you will be skipped, and your character may face consequences of inaction should you skip during combat. If you miss the deadline three times in a row, then you will be evicted from the dungeon thread.
- Monsters and mobs will fall within different Tier Lists of Difficulty.
. Tier 1 mobs may be killed in one hit with no intervention from the DM. Take care not to get swarmed, though!
. Tier 2 mobs require a partner to kill in one swoop, or two turns.
. Tier 3 mobs need three partners to eliminate in one swoop, or however many turns the DM allows.
. Please honor the Tier Lists of Difficulty and write fairly!
- The DM recommends that you keep post length shorter (under 250 words), but will not enforce it.
- A Thread will be created under Plotting on the Discord for this dungeon. It is recommended you make use of it in order to coordinate with your teammates.
- If you are unable to continue with the trek for any reason, you can request to be taken from the dungeon, and the DM will provide your means of escape.

Format: Large-scale warfare. No participant limit. Individual threads, 3-man teams.

The plan seemed simple enough. With the pieces of the Mirror of Twilight in the possession of Hyrule’s forces, all that was left to do was send a team with the shards into the Arbiter’s Grounds, where the Mirror itself was located, return the lost pieces, enter the Twilight Realm, engage this Twili mastermind and put an end to this war for good. On the surface, it was a solid, low casualty plan, and the Royal Family had begun organizing an elite squad for the mission.
But while investigating the disappearance of Ursula von Brandt, the Royal Family would discover that she was also being held in the Arbiter’s Grounds. Which meant that most likely the enemy knew they were coming. A scouting team would report back that a massive sandstorm had appeared and was now preventing access. One that would require a great deal of magic to dispel. But from what they could see, there were signs that a gargantuan army of monsters had been marshalled in the area, an army even bigger than the ones that had besieged Hyrule City, Zora’s Domain, Death Mountain and Kakariko Village previously. This was very likely to be the entirety of the remainder of the Twili’s monster army after the Battle of Eldin. To make matters worse, it was likely that more had been conscripted in the months since then. Sending in a small team alone would be impossible.
An unprecedented war council soon took place between representatives of the Royal Family, Goron and the Zora. It was decided that if the enemy was going to bring out their army in full force to stop them, then they as well would have to unite as one in order to make a path for their infiltration team.
For what would hopefully be the final battle, the Grand Army of Hyrule would be officially formed for the duration of the war. Hylians, Gorons, Zora, Sheikah and many others have come together for one last stand. For failure would mean the end of Hyrule as we know it.
- There is no limit to the number of participants but only one character per writer may participate.
- Each character will be sorted into three-man teams and will be given their own individual threads. Some teams may have different numbers depending on the total number of sign-ups. If necessary, second characters may be accepted to fill out teams.
- If your character belongs to a faction with military forces, they may be brought along as an NPC brigade. You may also include characters of yours that were not chosen to participate, should you feel they would still be involved. Please be reasonable with NPC use and correspond with your fellow writers before deployment.
- Each team will be given a prompt and a monster list upon thread creation. The amount of each monster and the story of the thread will be the decision of the involved members. This is an opportunity to build on your own stories.
- While there is no posting order, and the thread may move at what pace the participants are comfortable with, there is no shame in indicating you need to be skipped for a turn in order to keep things moving forward. There are no hard rules for ejecting those skipped unless set by those participating in the thread.
- We encourage making use of the Threads function in the #Plotting section of the Discord to communicate with your teammates. If you are having trouble with setting up a Thread, don't hesitate to contact Staff for assistance!
- If you have a preference for team composition, whether out of personal comfort or to advance one's in-character stories, please feel free to contact Josh on Discord. If requested to keep the request anonymous, it will be respected.
- At some point during the event, the event's Boss will be dropped into each thread. Each team will be given a chance to damage the boss. While you may handle the boss at your own posting pace, the end of the event will be posted in its own thread to provide the battle's aftermath. You may continue your thread even after this point, until it has reached its natural conclusion.
