For some reason Marianne felt slightly lightheaded.
Was it because of the heat? Or perhaps the all-encompassing vapor? Truth be told Marianne was more of a cold-water person. She had read somewhere that bathing in cold water prolonged life and kept the skin firm, so she tried to bathe in cold water despite the round-the-clock availability of warm bath in the castle. Overtime, the habit became a preference. It also certainly helped whenever she was out on her various “outings” and had to make do with what she had.
Then again, hotsprings were always enjoyable <3
Especially with so many familiar faces! The first one to come was the ranch owner from which she got her magnificent horse recently. Marianne giggled at her shocked response and waved her hand nonchalantly.
“No, no, Miss Markey. Please, join us as you like. If I had wanted this pool for myself, you wouldn’t even get past the front door!” She giggled again. Wait, was that funny? “So please, relax and join us. I insist!”
The next one to come added even more happiness to the already joyful princess.
“Ruru you came!” she exclaimed cheerfully, waving back at the Zora Princess
Rularu Groupan . Strange. Marianne never really called her by her nickname in front of others. Well, at least? There never
really were others when they were together except in official occasions. When the Zora got close she grabbed her hand.
“Come sit near me,” she cooed, pulling her down to sit with her on the edge of the pool in a strangely intimate manner,
“And dip your toes first like me. I know you don’t like heat….” Their bare shoulders touched.
“How do you feel?” She was referring to the Zora’s injuries after the dungeon of course.
Or not?
She did not realize the Rito Inventor
Letia was already in the pool, but she greeted her warmly when she did. And then there was a grey-haired Hylian who slipped in and said something about a party, which prompted a small chuckle from Marianne.
“That would be very nice! Now if only-“As if on cue, the owner of the establishment, the honorable
Peggy of the Gorons, came out and declared that they had gotten a nice upgrade and many other preferential treatments. Marianne gasped and acted surprised like the others at the sudden good news, though in actuality she was anything but surprised. After all, she had been pulling the strings to make sure this was one hotspring visit her sister
Selene Merrows would remember. The girl had lived her life in humble circumstances, and Marianne had determined that she would make her feel exclusively pampered tonight.
“That is especially kind of you, Miss Peggy. You have my utmost gratitude.” Then she noticed another girl peeking from behind the goron and waved excitedly at her. “Ophie! What a pleasant surprise! Come join us!” and she made a gesture to the empty space on her left (Ruru would be on her right).
Now Ophie was not a name
Ophelia Dragelion gave willingly. But Marianne decided on her own that she would call her thus on their first meeting. The gadfly. She turned and winked the Hylian who had first mentioned about a party.
“Well, you wanted to start a party. All drinks on me, everyone! Just… please be reasonable and don’t get us in trouble, okay~ ” She added with a chuckle.
Worry not. The princess does have her own savings, and this was the one she used. She was especially careful to always separate her personal spending from the kingdom's spending. And she guessed a little happiness here and there wouldn't hurt.
Oh, and was the princess happy! She watched the others likely scrambled also to get their drinks, laughing merrily at the slightest antic. And she had not even dived into the pool yet…. Before long she somehow found herself with her head on Ruru’s shoulder, watching Tally made a toast.
“I wish everyone prosperity and a long, fulfilling life!” She joined the toast in a slightly old-fashioned way (she was raised among the veterans of her *real* father’s battalion), raising her hand in the appropriate gesture even though she was not holding anything. But then her eyes perked up and she lifted her head from Rularu’s shoulder.
“Miss Markey is right. This has to be rectified!” And she pointed animatedly at the rest of the cast. “Please allow me to introduce you to each other! Mmm I’ll start with….” She blinked, turning her head around.
Say, were the faces of people always this… blurry?
“Ehm. Over there and the one who invited us is Miss Selene Merrows. Adventurer extraordinaire. Currently taking a break at a pleasant farm.”
“Beside her is none other than Lady Phoebe Arkwright. Genius, Billionaire, Darling, Philanthropist,” she giggled,
“What more can I say?”
“The one who proposed the toast –Ehh you finished your glass already?- is Miss Talutah Markey of Weeping Rock Farm, as she had said herself. If you ever fancy yourself having the best, most well-trained horse her ranch is the best place in Hyrule. No questions asked.”
Her hands then moved to grip Rularu’s hand. “Princess Rularu Groupan of the Zora Kingdom surely needs no introduction? No pearl shines more beautifully in the whole waters of Hyrule~” Oh. Wow. Looking close she really looked dazzling! Marianne never saw the iridescent glint of Zora scales in water vapor before. It was mesmerizing.
“This is Miss Ophelia. She... has an interest in history and legends.” And the princess winked at her, not wanting to divulge what they had known of each other. “And did I miss someone…. Oh! Miss Letia. One of the brightest minds I have ever known! Use this chance to know her better, everyone. In the near future she will become famous. Very, very famous.” She chuckled with mirth. “Mark my words.”
“Aaand that left you,” she said, nodding to the sellsword
Nova Arondale and the gerudo
Klara in a friendly manner.
“Would you like to introduce yourself? Oh don’t mind me if you don’t want to. I just thought it would be fun~ ”
And before long she had rested her head on Rularu’s shoulder again, now staring emptily at the distance.
“Mmm…. A cold Ordon milk would be nice…” came her murmured request. To no one in particular.
@everyone!
