Many days prior to the Events of the Twilight Mirror Dungeons…
It is an occasion for nobles to integrate with commoners, for seldom do either party think well of each other. It is typically the case of cynicism by both ranks of citizenry, a rift of empty assumptions and theoretical suppositions. The plebeians walk the narrow streets, while the bourgeoisie are given wide roads for their chariots and coaches.
It’s a wonder that the peasants, numerous as they are, have not decided to rise up against the ruling party.
Mm. They have worse things to worry about; rising monster numbers and unexplainable shades of the ‘inbetween’ to name a few...
Outside of the comfortable walls of the city, on the verdant, rolling hills, sat a woman with a parasol upon a grey stone. Below her were a total number of ten young students who practiced their magic casting on a dirt clearing. They cast spells in earnest upon never-ending, yet fragile shades of darkness, conjured by the woman herself. In this particular practice, she sought to overwhelm the children, but never attempted to harm them.
The reason for her presence was due to a certain professor from the magic academy, who inquired if the woman could observe the abilities of the fledglings. This was an order from the royal research committee, who requested young volunteers to assist in… a dubious definition of investigation. In return, the students would receive great benefits for their efforts, but they required special training in order to be considered for the cut. Those of a certain social standing were actually targeted for this--for what lord or lady would want their precious heirs to become mere fodder of science?
‘The fools,’ the woman thought, ‘To think they would have these children embark on adventures based on conjecture.’
