How did it come to this, again?
Marianne looked up at the edge of a crevice she found herself in. She could see the clouds drifting by in the clear blue sky, flanked by steep cliffs which limited her view. Such distance…. If only someone could throw her a rope or something from up there….
Well, if nothing else she should keep going. Perhaps she would find a ladder somewhere…. This ruin seemed to consist of both an upper layer and lower layer. Both equally expansive. Both equally confusing to traverse. It seemed that she had been walking in this underground maze for an hour or two….
Still, how did it come to this?
After the soul-draining experience that was Forest Temple and the reorganization that followed, Marianne found herself wanting more and more for an escapism of sort from her daily grind. And what better than to fulfill her promise with Revyn at the same time? The scroll she accidentally found a few months ago on an old Gerudo lawbook had long piqued her interest. An unknown ruin, so near to the well-travelled Pilgrim’s Path on Gerudo Desert? Incredible.
So, when she found the time (and she had to finish a few businesses in Gerudo Village either way) she packed her belongings, bid farewell to her guards left at Gerudo Village (armed escorts were not allowed on the Pilgrim’s Path), and set off with her trusty Keaton. The plan was to stray off the well-established path just for a glance and to ascertain whether there really was an unexplored ruin, then returned to complete The Pilgrim’s Path, which she had not done since she was little.
Alas, whether through magic or simply a horrendous case of misdirection, she somehow found herself stranded here in an unknown ruin, alone. She even had to spend the night huddled in the corner of what appeared to be a ruined throne room, listening to the strange noises which hounded her all night. Thankfully, there were some leftovers dried wood which she could use for fire. It kept her alive, at least. Winter in Gerudo Desert could be excessively cruel.
But if she did not find someone soon-
That was when she saw -or thought she saw- a movement up on the edge of the ravine. A fellow adventurer? Revyn?
‘Or perhaps,’ she gulped, ‘bandits.’
She did not have much choice, however. Taking a moment to steel herself, she cupped her palms near her mouth and shouted:
“Hello? Anyone up there?”
“Hello? Anyone up there?”
If there indeed was someone up there, they would see a young woman that was clearly rather lost. She wore a crimson cloak on top of her travelling clothes with pants, the usual style of pilgrims travelling through the Pilgrim’s Path. She was rather on the small side, short even, although she has a pair of intelligent silver eyes which complemented her pretty face well. Aside from slight red-tinge on the edges of her jet-black hair, she was rather unremarkable. Except for a ruby brooch which clasped her cloak on her left shoulders, glinting under the morning sun.
Chirro Corro and perhaps Revyn?
I set this is in early winter, after the Temples. Is it alright with you?
