Sailing Sunsets - Mercenary and the Lizard

People here, people there... for the moment, at least, the Lizalfos only barely registered them, nervous as he otherwise was. Thus far, it seemed, they were paying little mind to him -- a small blessing, perhaps, in light of everyone being led off to tables to apparently sit in pairs -- but it wasn't doing much for all of his confusion. Nor, certainly, did it make him feel any better about being here in the first place.

Yet, all the same, it didn't take terribly long for him to become aware of a stalled presence just nearby, yellowish, slitted eyes flicking up from the rather imperceptible menu to the Hylian girl that was paused nearby -- presumably led to this table just as he was. "Ah, erm... h-hello," he quietly replied, a slight, rather awkward smile tugging up at his lips. At least... that was what people did, he was relatively aware, and it had been one of a few suggestions as he'd been dragged into this that it was something he was to do. Or at least try. 'Date', though... that was a word he'd sworn the couple that brought him here used, though for as little as he understood it... perhaps a simple, slow nod would do the trick. Even if his expression likely betrayed that he was not wholly certain.

"I-I am, erm... Zakar," he at least managed to offer by means of introduction. "Would... like seat? And food?" he suggested, giving a small nod to the open seat just across from him, uncertain though part -- well, most -- of him was. Though even with that, there were still certain things he could notice by some looks, especially the way he was raised.

"You are... warrior...?" he tentatively asked; in some part just a guess, in other part a certain worry that he might create some sort of problem without meaning to.

She... what? Hmm... perhaps his meaning hadn't come across after all. Though, at least, he appeared to have something to call her. That much, and the fact that she had taken a seat, would have to do for now. Everything else, he would... well, try to figure out, at least.

"I..." Zakar started to answer when Nova's own question came, before nervously biting his lip slightly. Certainly, he used to be; he was raised as one. But now... "...was. Am... hunter now. Farmer," he submitted, hoping he wouldn't have to go into the circumstances of 'why'. That it might, perhaps, be fine with just that.

Not helping the nerves, then, perhaps, was one of the waitstaff seeing there were two people at the table, and opting as such to come over and ask if they had any drink orders, the Lizalfos taking another moment to nervously glance over the menu. "Erm... j-juice...?" he nervously replied, the man seeming to opt to turn to Nova seeing the almost helpless look on the rather... unique patron's face.

Once that was done, then, Zakar exhaled a heavy little breath, glancing off to the man moving to a new table once he'd taken their drink orders before his eyes returned to Nova across from him. "S-sorry if... you rather I was Hylian. They said... should try meet people, have fun..." he offered, though perhaps it was a bit late for that given that they'd been led to the same table.

Ah... something like that, then? So they were both there not really by their own wills, it seemed. The thought was at least... slightly comforting for the Lizalfos himself, since it sounded as though he wouldn't much have to worry about the burden of expectations he couldn't possibly have known in advance... though it wasn't much less of an awkward position for him to be in, really.

It did, however, seem to help a fair bit that Nova's own nerves appeared to have subsided to some degree, Zakar's own expression lightening a little, though the signs of nerves still remained present.

"Order... for food?" he asked, some nerves coming back as he glanced down to the, for him, rather imperceptible menu. Well... but she had suggested trying all their drinks, and having some fun. And he at least vaguely recalled the family he'd been staying with that had shoved him here mentioning things were free, at least for the night. If they were to make something of it, then... they may as well.

"Then... if here... make small feast?" the Lizalfos suggested with a slight grin. "Have never... tried much Hylian food. Would be new. And warriors eat lots," he added. Well... sure, she had (maybe) said she wasn't a warrior, and he was only an ex-warrior... but never mind that little detail. The point was simply trying something new, after all, and to him, practically everything here was so.

"And... am curious. If not here, where you rather be?" he asked in turn, after a brief thought. A rather... awkward way of asking what she might usually be doing, perhaps, but his plainly limited speech could only afford so much.

Was it... an odd question? At least, she seemed to be thinking about it, though for him, even such gestures were hard to tell. He was still learning, at least... but some of it was a slow process.

So when Nova started to answer, Zakar exhaled a curious little hum. 'Work'... though she hadn't really said what that was for her, had she? Perhaps... he could ask a bit later. For now, it seemed, the question was to come back to him, another slight, thoughtful rumble escaping the Lizalfos. 'Where', indeed... there was one thing that came to mind, at least.

"Place with... less people..." he partly mumbled, hardly able to let go of that bit of discomfort. Nor, indeed, the fact that he was born and raised to be enemy to the lot of them... yet now, here he was in spite of that. Haven't found himself quite unwilling to put his actual life on the line for such a cause, when it came to it. Still... he could also do better than bringing down the mood at all, he quickly mused. "But... learning, probably. Still have much to," he mused... as if his speech didn't make the latter part rather obvious. "Could... learn more of you as well?" he suggested with a slight tilt of his head.

At least, he couldn't much deny that she did interest him at least a little, particularly for being this seemingly comfortable around him.

'Exciting'? Well... maybe, maybe not. At least by her terms. It still didn't stop the Lizalfos from being at least a little curious... and from most of this Hylian, and other, culture to still be rather foreign to him. He was still learning, over time, but he also had a safe spot out on a farm in a quiet area, and had to be cautious about where he went. In comparison... they could, he presumed, go anywhere.

At least, then, he certainly seemed interested regardless of that initial claim of hers.

"Mm? Ah, that..." Zakar trailed off in a mumble, reaching up to rub a little at the back of his head when Nova asked if there was anything specific. They'd said... something about that sort of thing, hadn't they? Or at least... some things to say.

"'Hobbies'? Erm... what you like doing when not working," he simply opted to go with, before quirking his head slightly. Was that how this worked? They hadn't really been... clear on that. "Or... I should say first? They said... should answer first before some things..."

Curiously, Zakar even found himself watching, at least for a moment, at the minor trick -- or so it was to him -- of the fork. Yet another of very many things he'd not observed before; even in his year or so now with the Hylians at the farm, he largely kept to himself even there, and didn't get out much except those times they went somewhere, or to hunt. Likely enough they were right that he needed to, but it wasn't terribly easy.

Then... bugs, Nova said? So far as he'd ever known, the things were just minor pests, but if she apparently enjoyed them so, perhaps there was a bit more to it? It gave him something to consider, at least... though the food, he could certainly agree with, a slight chuckle even escaping the Lizalfos seeing her reaction to even the thought. Precisely that would be out... before too long, he had to imagine, his eyes momentarily wandering to a few tables starting to get their own food. When the question turned back to him, though, his yellowish, slitted eyes returned to the girl across from him, a small, thoughtful hum escaping him.

"Ah, no... was good to hear. Good to be happy about things," Zakar suggested with a little grin, to that particular point of hers. "I... like learning, trying things. Still have... very much to learn," he mused... though he wouldn't let himself get so down about it right now, anyway. "Cooking, dancing -- though they say 'clumsy'. Still, is... fun trying things," he offered for his own part, putting on another small grin. And with his attention soon drawn to one of the servers, that appeared to be coming their way with a decent share of food, none of which was familiar to the Lizalfos personally... not that he was surprised.

Though it also meant he didn't much know what to do with any of it, his eyes following Nova to try and figure that bit out.
