Clemmie
the basics
Full Name: Clemmie
Alias: Clem, Claws
Age: 21
Birthday: Spring
Race: Sheikah
Occupation: Hyrulian Officer
Pronouns: She/Her
School of Magic: Demise
appearance
Clemmie is a young Sheikah woman of medium stature. Standing at 5’5”, she is not necessarily the most menacing-looking, but she is not tiny either by any means. Clemmie has long, silvery hair that she tends to wear in a singular braid, allowing her bangs to flow freely. She has ruby-red eyes that all members of her species have. Clemmie has a slender frame and boasts less muscle than her Hylian acquaintances, but makes up for it in the speed and flexibility of her physique.
Clemmie can often be seen in all sorts of clothing, but she is usually adorned in loose skirts and tops made from the robe material many Sheikah clothe themselves with. In battle, she wears a breastplate of armor over her chest for extra protection. Perhaps the most eye-catching attribute of her apparel are her ears and “claws”. Clemmie has an affinity for odd hair accessories, cat-ears being her personal favorite.
As for the latter, Clemmie’s claw contraptions are more than fascinating add-ons. They serve as her primary form of weaponry. Large and sharply bladed, one good swing from the massive steampunk weapons can leave an opponent with serious gashes. Combined with the use of her magic and quick footwork, they can be quite the troublesome weapon for an enemy to parry.
personality
Clemmie is quite the interesting person to befriend. While amicable to most, she is very confident in herself and her work and will not allow anything to get in the way of it. Bold and tireless, Clemmie does all she can to provide her services to Hyrule to help bring about impactful change. She is a creative person and utilizes this trait to its fullest as a warrior and a weaponsmith. Clemmie is adept at creating unique, if not unorthodox weapons that sometimes raise the brows of other fighters and magicians in Hyrule. But, if one is open minded, Clemmie is usually happy to offer her creations to them.
Because of her confident nature, Clemmie can be seen as a brash or overly forward person. She works quickly and doesn’t like accepting defeat, making it difficult for her to accept criticism. Clemmie is hotheaded, loud, and outspoken, all traits that can be the ire of the calmer type.
In the end, Clemmie is an innovative Sheikah with a fascination for battle, weaponry, and the Royal Family of Hyrule. Perhaps naive at times but nevertheless devoted to her work, Clemmie is a courageous soul who will attempt do her best in any pursuit for the betterment of Hyrule.
history
Clemmie was born to a humble Sheikah pair in Kakariko. She was brought up in a traditional Sheikah way, taught to keep discreet by staying in the shadows. There were not many Sheikah left, so Clemmie’s parents were quite adamant about keeping her daughter safe in hopes of doing their part to maintain the race’s population.
Thus, Clemmie’s childhood was a relatively quiet one. She lived in Kakariko and was told to never stray far away from the town, despite all of Hyrule being out and available to travel to. She had a few friends but they were all Sheikah. The older Clemmie got, the more things felt agonizingly the same. Desperately, Clemmie longed for something different. This feeling of displeasure was what sparked the girl’s innermost curiosity, and fueled the drive for what would soon become her new passion.
Clemmie, as a Sheikah girl, was taught the ways of magic as well as weaponsmithing. While she had been introduced to many forms of magic, Clemmie set time aside to learn the dark art of Demise, particularly.
The more Clemmie trained, the more she felt an urge to test her power. She was a tireless soul, after all, someone who could not bring herself to rest unless she knew she was performing at her utmost. Clemmie began to pick fights with other Sheikah mages, often getting herself quite injured in the process. Before long, she was labeled as a nuisance by many of her people, and was urged to train elsewhere.
This eventually led Clemmie to travel away from Kakariko, against her parent’s wishes. Who needed all of those stuck-up mages, anyway? Clemmie began to brave into the wilderness to train on her own. As she did so, she learnt more about herself. Clemmie believed that she could grow stronger if she worked harder; the only thing that truly held back were her own inhibitions.
Against roaming monsters, Clemmie would defend herself using her Demise magic. Clemmie was still relatively novice at this point, and as one would expect, did not always win every battle she fought. One fateful bout left her quite injured. She survived narrowly, running tail back to Kakariko. When her parents discovered her, they scolded her harshly and forbade her from leaving the village completely.
This development surely dampened her spirits. Did this mean she was not strong enough to become a greater warrior? Did it mean that she would always have to keep to the shadows?
Clemmie recovered in solitude from her dangerous excursion at a Kakariko medical facility. Other than the occasional nurses that kept her company, Clemmie was alone. She’d drawn many of her friends away due to her reckless nature, and her parents were disciplining her.
However, a strange cat-like being, presumably one of the medical staff’s pets, entertained Clemmie as she rehabilitated. A Remlit always scurried about her room, a cute little creature. It was sweet in the daytime, but when night fell, Clemmie witnessed how aggressive it could be to other smaller creatures. It struck with its claws to kill its prey.
This gave Clemmie some inspiration for a new approach to battle. A more animal-like one. If only she had claws, Clemmie thought, she could use her Demise to cut down at her foes like a Remlit did at night!
As soon as Clemmie was well again, she went back to the drawing board. Sheikah did not have claws, but they surely did use weapons for combat. What if she created a new weapon herself?
Clemmie went to work, relearning her old blacksmithing skill to create new prototypes of weapons. Finally, Clemmie created what she’d envisioned: a set of large gauntlets that could serve as her new weapons.
There was no way that she could train with others in Kakariko again, however. She needed a new environment. Reluctantly, Clemmie sealed her resolve and left a note for her parents; she was running off to attempt to join the Hyrulian military. She’d promise to return with a title made for herself.
And so Clemmie went, running away from her home to chase her dreams in her mid teens. Clemmie entered herself as a soldier, and was immediately met with skepticism when she entered the most basic of infantries. She did not use a sword, but rather, her odd gauntlets. On top of that, she was not versed with Hylia or Din, but instead Demise, of all types of magic.
But Clemmie was determined to not allow odd glares to discourage her. Clemmie trained and she trained hard, the thought of ancient Sheikah in the past aiding the Royal Family in her mind. She was determined to make history like they once had.
And the process was tough; there were many adept soldiers in the military to best and contend against for a higher position. But Clemmie had individuality on her side. Her style of fighting was different from many, enough to give her the upper edge during many training situations and even serious battle against threats.
Clemmie slowly made her way up the ranks, proving her worth with hard work. She became a breakout warrior, one that higher fighters noticed.
She especially proved her worth as a combatant when the Starlight Tragedy occured and she put her life at stake to protect various citizens against the surge of evil forces and monsters, and once more on the attack within Zora’s Domain.
Things became personal, however, when Kakariko Village, her home, was attacked. She did her best to stand her ground, even as confusion imbued itself in the Hylian military during the siege. Clemmie fought fiercely and with all her might, enough for higher-ups to promote her to an Officer.
Kakariko Village’s current state only further fueled Clemmie’s wish to fight harder for Hyrule. She knew that the decision she made to join the military was the right one. If she could become even more powerful, Kakariko Village would never have to face the same terror it had again.
