the basics
Full Name: Aya Jahara
Alias: N/A
Age: 18
Birthday: Spring 21
Race: Gerudo
Occupation: Jeweler
Pronouns: She / Her
School of Magic: Din
appearance
Aya is remarkably small gerudo girl which makes her about the size of an average Hylian man. She keeps her red hair in a high ponytail held with a golden clasp, a theme which pervades her many bangles, jewels, and other shiny ornaments befitting any of her desert people. At first glance, she does not appear to be particularly built for combat, and that impression would be correct. She might be fast, but sheer strength really isn't her thing.
personality
Aya is willful, bright, and curious. As the daughter of craftswomen, she was never trained in combat or discipline. Instead, she can come off as immature and petulant, constantly getting in over her head. She has an interest in the intricate detailings of the world around her from metalwork to art to society to the natural world. She has an unquenchable drive to see the world beyond the desert for all of its beauty no matter how ill-prepared she might be to set off on her own. Maybe one day she'll return to put all of her knowledge and experience to good use. Maybe.
History
Aya has, unfortunately, never had an adventurous life. She was born and raised by two kindly mothers who made their trade in jeweling and metalworking. Their craft paid well enough, and while Aya never had much, she never wanted for anything either. As a child, she would weave together desert flowers and watch the warrior women from afar, eyes bright at the girls in training. She made up stories of their travels in her head. If only she could be as brave and daring as they were. If only she could pick up a sword in hand to fight.
Not that she wanted to. Her fingers were too delicate. And she liked the polish of her nails. In fact, she liked all of her bangles and gems and the lavishly styled golden earrings she got to keep when they weren't fit for market. She was educated well enough in reading and simple magic. It was fine. Mostly she just liked the stories.
She was apprenticed when she was sixteen to take over her family trade. While she was quite skilled in the work, she hated the monotony of it. Her mothers always dreamed that she'd have perfectly normal life exactly as they'd had, stuck forever in Gerudo town providing for herself and maybe finding a nice girl to settle down with. But settling was about all she'd ever done. The walls of the future closed in tight around her, and more and more often she'd find herself gazing off into the desert sands, imagining the whole world that lied beyond them.
By her eighteenth birthday, her mind was made up. She learned survival skills in secret. She studied maps. She honed her magic a little better, and she borrowed a sack of rupees from her mothers which she used to pay a woman to ferry her across the sands. And so she starts her journey with nothing but a backpack, a lot of jewelry, and a very fancy dagger that her mothers had crafted on commission and that she'll return some day probably.
Aya is going to see the world for herself. And nothing, not even common sense, is going to stop her.
