[attr="class","about"]About the character
Appearance
In Gerudo terms, Tafovun stands at a pretty average height for a male, ranking in at seven-foot six. However, for most other races, that makes him an absolute giant, not even counting for his incredible three hundred and two pounds of (almost) pure muscle mass achieved through harsh training that took place practically as soon as he could walk like most of his kind. His body is covered in some scars, but not many, yet he does have quite a lot of battle experience. He believes the lack of an abundance of scars all over his body to simply be a testament to his skill, especially when considering his particular line of work.
His hair is, unsurprisingly, a sharp shade of crimson red and his skin possessing the same color of milk chocolate. His eyes are a golden, piercing hue of yellow, only adding to his already amazing, natural intimidation factor. The canines in his mouth are somewhat sharper than normal as well and it shows when he smiles or grits his teeth. He isn't a hybrid or some kind of reincarnation, he was simply born this way. All of these features have earned him titles such as "The Golden-Eyed Giant" and "The Crimson Beast" as mercenary aliases.
As for his clothing, while he has pieces of golden jewelry slung around his neck, he doesn't wear a shirt or armor over his core. He doesn't feel the need to. In his mind, once someone has experienced the freezing nights and searing days of the Gerudo desert, there is rarely any climate that can give you a shock to your system. As for the lack of armor, well, he's just so cocky that he believes he doesn't need an extra layer of protection. It hasn't burned him in the backside yet...yet. He does wear pants (thankfully). However, he isn't cocky enough to let his legs go uncovered as pieces of armor hang past his waist and down his legs. In his experience, dodging leg-targeted attacks are more complicated than the torso or head-targeted ones. Finally, on his wrists and hands, he wears fingerless gauntlets wrapped in chains, his weapons of choice.
Personality
Tafovun was raised in an environment that resulted in a very headstrong and belligerent personality. This means that Tafovun has absolutely no problem with picking a fight with someone, especially if it’s over something he believes in that they disagree with and vice versa. But even without the emotional depth, Tafovun still enjoys a good brawl. Of course, as a mercenary, money can also play a factor, but he doesn’t care about it nearly as much.
In terms of verbal behavior, Tafovun has a hard time keeping his mouth shut and always has something to say. He’s brutally honest, the type to be asked what he thinks about someone’s skills and bombard them with reminders that they have tons of room for improvement in a terribly mean way. He is beyond snarky during a fight and can’t help pumping every ounce of his massive ego onto the battlefield.
Tafovun is very creative and resourceful, though, especially considering that he’s turned chains of all things into his primary weapons. This is thanks to his constant fighting and desparate situations, forcing Tafovun to get used to developing plans and tactics on the fly.
History
Tafovun was born in a small hut located in one of the many compact settlements peppered all across the Gerudo desert. His mother was a tailor while his father was a member of the village's small guard, comprised of five of their strongest Gerudo. While he did spend most of his youth at home, whenever Tafovun played with the other children, his pure and righteously competitive spirit reared its head. Whether it be something as simple as tag or something more intricate like hide-n-go-seek, Tafovun would pour one-hundred and ten percent into these games, shredding through competition and relishing in his victory.
The other children believed him to be some kind of inhumane beast, even for Gerudo standards. Others believed that it was because he was receiving private training from his father. However, Tafovun simply possessed an incredible warrior's spirit that constantly led to his successes. As he and the other children grew up, so did their games. They switched from tag and hide & seek to wrestling and sparring. It was during this stage that Tafovun absolutely fell in love with the idea of combat in specific, no longer simply competition. He'd grin wildly every time an opponent hit the dirt. It felt good to put someone down like that.
His mother became worried about these building violent tendencies while his father saw an opportunity. Tafovun was strong, scary strong, but if that power were honed with the proper tutelage, given time it was likely their village would never have to be worried about bandits, monsters, thieves, or anything else ever again. The idea certainly interested Tafovun, and once he was of age, he began training with the guard.
But this wasn't meant to be.
Tafovun's tendencies were too reckless and wild. He was a combat genius and more than physically adept, but he was absolutely terrible at being wary of the other guard trainees during drills. His father soon realized that he was not only going to be a cannon against the enemy but against the guard themselves. However, he wouldn't get the chance to kick Tafovun off of the guard as Tafovun himself simply quit. He didn't like waiting around and guarding, and besides the drills, there wasn't much combat to hold his interest.
So, he left the village, becoming a successful mercenary, an occupation he still holds to this day.
Miscellaneous Information
- Tafovun's preferred weapon of choice are his two trusty chains, wrapped conveniently around his wrists. He can use these to grapple, trip, and toss opponents or thrash them around expertly as whips on steroids, allowing him to overwhelm the average singular opponent and challenge large groups of monsters or bandits. He received these chains after breaking free from confinement on a nearly failed job.
- Despite his cocky and brash demeanor, Tafovun doesn't prefer taking evil jobs. Partly because they tend to be the easiest. In his experience though, good guys tend to be underprepared goons. It makes fighting on their side so much more fun. Or at least those are things he'll say instead of just admitting that he's a goody-two-shoes at heart. Hylia forbid anyone know he has a soft side.
- The other forms of combat he indulges in are wrestling, spears, and straight hand to hand combat. He doesn't prefer weapons made for people of his stature such as claymores, giant axes, or hammers but he'll use them if he has absolutely no other choice.
- Stalchildren make him wildly uncomfortable.
