GETTING WHAT YOU WANT CAN BE DANGEROUS
Again, it was somewhere close to midnight. The night was chilly, and the breeze blew a constant chill into the observatory. Pallin didn't mind, though - his Sheikah robes provided more than enough warmth to combat this paltry breeze. He had science to do! Equations needed balancing, stars needed recording, relics needed observing, and his daily log needed to be filled. So much to do, but how pleased the Royal Family would be to learn about his findings of the most recently discovered constellation. What it meant when the brightest of its stars was in the western skies, versus the north; the next thing he needed to do was plant some herbs to see which would grow the fastest. But before that, he needed to fix a part of a mathematical formula depicting how fast things in the sky might travel- there was never enough time for him to do all the things he wanted to do!
But he had to finish in time - his deadline was the upcoming Starlight Festival. After all, Pallin was the court astronomer. And what would be so wrong that the Royal's astronomer wouldn't have his charts done depicting what the citizens could expect to see that night! Why, the very date of the Starlight Festival was something Pallin projected. Certain planets would be visible (as very bright stars, of course), certain constellations would be visible - and above all, the moon would be positively iridescent! He felt lots of pressure weighing on his shoulders, but mostly because he wanted all the citizens of Castle Town to be able to witness such a gorgeous array of astral wonders. Of course, he himself wouldn't be attending the festival - as someone has to keep watch over the perimeter of Castle Town from great heights - but, just as important (to him, anyway), why would anyone in his role pass up an opportunity to see SO many things through his telescope?
He could jot down the planets. He could sketch them, take notes of what they look like. See how they move - do the other planets have moons, too? Of course they do, but how many? More than one? Stories upon stories had been told to him about things flying in the sky that weren't birds - they couldn't be the goddesses, because they weren't gold - so what were they? Pallin has always wondered what that shooting star he saw as a young teen was. Was it really a star that's falling? How would a star shoot, anyway? Perhaps he would catch a glimpse of one on the night of the Festival. There were so many things in the sky - even a fabled city. Had anyone even met someone from that city? So many opportunities awaited him in this role as an astronomer.
But before he let the night slip by completely, he had to take a break. So, he marked where he left off in his math equation, made notes as to his findings from his telescope, and proceeded to sit in his chair while rubbing his temples. He swore he heard a little peep.
