Hyrule Castle, Inner Courtyard,
When Princess Marianne was young,
Late Spring, Late Afternoon
A little trip inside little Marianne's mind
Everything you ask for, nothing is above me
I'm shining like a candle in the dark
when you tell me that you love me
I'm shining like a candle in the dark
when you tell me that you love me
'One. Two. One. Two. These books are so heavy.... Can I really finish these?'
It was a pleasant spring afternoon in Hyrule Castle. Birds were chirping on the trees, clouds frolicked with the sunray, and multitude of blooming flowers waving energetically as the gentle wind blew past the inner courtyard. It was a relaxing time to look up to, especially the noble children after class. They had already scrambled into the outer courtyard, playing tag or balls and laughing happily under the watchful eye of castle guards, merrily having their time before they returned to their own family's estates.
One noble child, however, lingered in the tutor room as long as she could, making sure that she was alone before she went outside. And unlike the other children, she went straight through the inner gate, crossing the inner courtyard on her way to princess' compound.
Princess Marianne could hear the laughter of the children on the other side of the wall as she trudged along with her books. She could hear their voices all again: that she was a teacher's pet. That she was a attention-seeker. That somehow she was always average despite seemingly working harder than anyone else. And she could hear herself saying, over and over again, that it was her role to be average and not to usurp her shining brother and sister's role, that she had to not be a success nor a disappointment and carefully show herself as average. She knew she was different from her siblings, although because of what she had yet to know.
Besides, if she had gone outside that gate and joined them, they would ignore her as usual, even hurling hurtful words towards her until she could bear near them no longer. There were times when Marianne desperately wanted to know the reason she was being ostracized, until she learned herself how unstable her powers was. After that she simply stopped caring, burying herself in her books and studies instead. And it is not like she was not accustomed in studying alone. After all, Father and Mother were busy with Leon and Beatrix, who succeeded brilliantly in everything they did. They would have no time for someone like her, would they? That was why Marianne never asked them anything. She could learn by herself. She had to....
'But really, these books are so heavy....'
Passing under an old magnificent tree, the little princess looked up. There was a beautiful blue bird singing there, lost in her melodies as if it was the most important thing in the world. The bird was beautiful, its plumage shining under the sun and enticing any that laid eyes upon it. Soon another bird flew down and joined the first bird on the branch. And another. And another. There were now four birds singing in raucous harmony.
Marianne stopped. For a moment, something stirred in her heart.
If she had been a beautiful bird like that one instead of a wretched child she was... would she had a friend?
