There was no lack of soldiers to bolster the ranks of the Hylian Army, and among them were the most talented of those who had graduated from the Hyrulean School of Magic. Many of these former students boasted some form of adept mastery over the magic entrusted to them by the goddesses, but as far as practical application in the field of battle, they had much to learn.
For this reason, a majority of the graduates had moved over to enlist in the Hyrulean military, where they would be trained in “field activities” to better their skill as magic soldiers. Some even had the potential of climbing the ranks and becoming tacticians or specialty strike teams.
However, success was never something that ought to invade one’s psyche, as the wise proverb had said, “pride goes before the fall.” Exceptionality among the non-magical soldiers was rare and typically non-existent, to the point where many colleagues of the academy seldom bothered to seek potentials.

And, just as well, see to the disputatious man who had been recently knighted by her own pupil. He was a farmer who had taken up arms in the recent Battle of Eldin, a battleground that, years ago, took the woman’s own husband from her, a mere week after their daughter was stillborn.
Down below was a sandy field, where a gaggle of soldiers of various age and experience sat or stood around during sparring matches. What was left now were those who liked to spend every ounce of their energy training themselves.
There was a man of good reputation, a soldier, proud and strong. His name was Alphonse Billbay, a graduate magic student of the academy, as well as a big brute of a man with particular affinity with Din, the Goddess of Power. He was known as a bully back in the day, but was humbled a few times by a colleague to be a better man...
“I’ll bet I can take on Sir Dragelion!”
... Or so everyone hoped.
The woman above scanned the field in search of this... Sir Josh Dragelion.
He’s a man with blonde hair, and particularly tall stature. Billbay is about as average a Hylian can get, so...
