The Goron led them to the dunes which, after a climb appeared to be where the miscolored magic sand was coming from. He noticed that Solveig froze on the spot while climbing though, and while they did not find anything, Solveig seemed quite sure that there was nothing there. Not sure of where to go from here, the Hylian would let out a sigh and draw his sword, before stabbing it down into the dune. He wasn't sure what it might do. The sword may just hit dune. But it was also possible that the blow might dispel an illusion if there was any...

Perhaps it just harkened back to the basic soldier mentality. If it's an illusion, stab it. If nothing else works? Stab it.

Well, the stabbing thing certainly worked, because as soon as Josh stabbed the 'dune' the illusion broke and both the men found themselves being pulled down a pit. Unknowing of what was at the bottom of where they were going, Solveig reached over and tossed Josh up, behind him. Wherever they were going, he didn't want to risk landing on top of the human.

That wouldn't feel good.

After what felt like forever, The sand pit sucked them through, down a tunnel and into a cave. Solveig slid along the floor, digging his heels into the ground to bring his heavy momentum to a stop. Wherever they were now, it was musty, and there were actually lit torches here and there. The light of one actually lit up a large door, the exact same size and design as the thing that they had seen earlier.

He opened his mouth to ask where they were at, but he was pretty sure that Josh would be unable to answer the question as well. Frowning, he turned to look at Josh. He was honestly afraid to take another step until they observed the room more, now that it was obvious that magic was at work here. "Once again. Magic confuses Solveig."

He'd seen a lot in this lifetime but he'd never seen nor heard of a floor made of sand that dissipated when someone stabbed it. To be honest, Josh didn't expect this to work. He'd done it out of pure instinct and even a bit because he found the idea of "Stab it to see if it works" amusing. That didn't mean of course that he expected it to work. Because he didn't. Simple as that, he didn't. But it did work. And now they were falling.

Oh shit they were falling.

Josh tried to find somewhere to latch his Clawshot into, but the surrounding walls were too far away and chances are they were far too sandy for him to be able to use to break his fall. Another wrinkle was that Solveig was seconds from falling on top of him, which odds are would break all of his bones. Of course, Solveig had decided to take the initiative and throw him upwards, eliminating the latter threat.

As they descended into a cave, Josh would see opportunity. Having put his sword away, he would bring out his Clawshot and stick it into a rock nearby that was sticking out from the wall. Using it to jet toward it, Josh would grab the rock, pull out the Clawshot and then begin to climb down from there. Once he landed on solid ground, he would take a deep breath, dusting himself off.

"Magic is indeed confusing... Nor is it fun at times" He would admit as he stepped forward. Indeed, he didn't know where they were either. "I once, with a party, fought a very large wyrm. As if that wasn't bad enough, it somehow had the magic to turn itself into some sort of ice demon as a means of powering up when it was damaged enough. Not a fun day. Almost died. Twice.

So, what now?"

Solveig stood up straight, pulling his arms back to stretch his old joints out, feeling the sand crunch between the stones on his rocky back. It was in every nook and cranny as soon as he hit the desert, but feeling that crunch just meant it was going to piss him off within a few hours.

Popping his neck, knuckles and shoulders, Solveig looked around the area. Nothing was too apparent so far, but there was a prickling sensation down his back. And not like there was a scorpion under his rocks. He checked over his shoulder a couple of times before turning back to the cave in front of them. He was at a total loss here, magic was far from his thing.

Crossing his arms, he looked down to Josh, shrugging one shoulder at him. "I am at loss, brother." The illusion had been concealing some strange cave covered in runes. But there was another problem. There were footprints in the sand in front of them and all shaped just like an average boot. An even bigger loss. As soon as Solveig was starting to figure out where the footprints led, a cloaked man stepped out from behind a corner... and then two other people.

The first man yielded a bandaged arm and leg, as well as what appeared to be a still healing broken nose... needless to say the rest of his face also looked trashed. The sight of the cloaked man immediately put Solveig on edge though, the large goron immediately throwing a threat. "Puny human was broken once! Comes back to be broke again!"

They said nothing. Just drew their weapons, watching both Josh and Solveig warily.

Stretching out his sore joints, the Hylian let out a breath to try and regain himself, though coughed a bit when he inhaled sandy dust instead. "Bloody..." He muttered under his breath. Either way, it seemed that neither of them were all that knowledgeable when it came to magic. He knew how to use it, but... He hadn't used a terrible lot of it back in Termina. So he was still learning. And Solveig was about as much as at a loss as he was. That wasn't going to make this any easier.

At the least, they were able to proceed.

But they wouldn't do so unimpeded, as the sound of footsteps crunching on the sand caused him to quickly draw his bow. He had considered drawing his greatsword, but considering they were at a distance... Picking them off seemed to be the best decision right now.

They looked pretty banged up, these folks. And by Solveig's words, it didn't take too long for the Hylian to connect the dots about as quickly as he strung the bow and fired without waiting for them or Solveig to attack. If they had attempted to assassinate Solveig once, then he wasn't giving them a chance to try again.

Solveig rolled his shoulders, staring as one of the three pulled out his bare hands, winds swirling around them momentarily before disappearing, disturbing the sand around his feet. A mage. The one to the side pulled out a sword and a shield while the bandaged leader braced his self and revealed a greatsword he had hidden in the darkness behind them, pulling it out despite his injuries.

The man's only visible eye in the light winced as Solveig pulled his fists out, clenching a rocky hand. The fight started though as soon as Josh fired his arrows, causing them all to step apart, and the leader of the group to watch the arrows fly past them all.

Wordlessly, the leader of the group pulled his sword back, the blade catching fire as he stepped forward, swinging his sword in a heavy arc, releasing a blazing fireball straight towards Josh, going after the one with the bow with his sword and shield friend, who started his way towards Josh with the fire as momentary cover.

The mage on the other hand, moved smoothly to face the Goron who had both of his fists out, ready to fight the same beast that had broken their leader over his knee. Both of them conjured their element, firing wind and a compressed ball of stone towards each other, exploding on contact between the two of them, giving Solveig a moment to curl up and roll closer to the mage while he reeled from the stone shrapnel.

"I must train, I must fight, I must become strong.

Josh wasn't waiting around for them to strike back. The moment that his arrow missed, he already had another one out of the quiver and strung, firing again. This time, the arrow was imbued with fire magic, and would be set aflame as he sent it toward the one charging at him. It would collide with the fireball, and the two destroyed each other in a string of fire and smoke.

It seemed that Solveig would be handling the mage, while Josh would be handling the leader and the sword and shield user, who were presently charging his way. Putting away his bow, he would draw his own greatsword as Dragelix shone in the beating sunlight. His fire magic extended to the blade as it set itself aflame as well, as Josh charged forward to meet them head on.

He kept to the side of the sword and shield user, hoping to keep the two of them from being able to attack Josh together. He swung for the man's sword, hoping to knock it out of his hands and leave him with only a shield to fight with.
