Everything you ask for, nothing is above me
I'm shining like a candle in the dark
when you tell me that you love me
I'm shining like a candle in the dark
when you tell me that you love me
Marianne tilted her head at Kamo. 'Never? So he has never been considered for promotion before?'
Well after this night (if they lived through it) she would make sure he would have something to show in his resume. Maybe it was fate after all, who chose the most unlikely people in the most unlikely circumstance.
Being watched by two Kargarocs, for example.
The giant birds stared at them for a moment. They were not in a good shape, Marianne noticed. Their feathers were torn in many patches and they were quite visibly wounded. The strange thing is, wounded monster usually turned aggressive. These two Kargarocs didn't. Somehow, Marianne got a feeling that they were trying to get the two surface dwellers on their side, as crazy as that sounded.
Then, the two Kargarocs flew away. Marianne dissipated her shield.
"There is only one way for us," she said to Kamo, "Let's go."
When they opened the next door, they were greeted by a familiar sight. The walkways seemingly hovering above the clouds. The howling wind and serene night sky. Only this time, the bridge bifurcated into two, with a door to a tower on each end as usual.
And all the way from here through the bridges and towers those same line and circular pattern were glowing. No magic for them until quite some time. The dismayed Marianne looked around, and noticed one of the Kargarocs had landed on a walkway, squawking loudly. Almost as if calling them, if Marianne was not being driven insane by the anti-magic.
Marianne sighed.
"You will think of me as being unhinged somewhat, Kamo.... But I have a feeling we should get to the path with the Kargaroc on it. As mad as it sounds like.... What do you think?"
But midway through the bridge a sharp shriek split the night sky. Two more Aeralfos descended on them from above, baring their fangs and swords! Even more shocking still, the Kargaroc let out an angry shriek of its own and swooped on one of the Araelfos, taking their fight to the sky and away from the two surface dwellers! Now, only one Aeralfos remained, having landed on the bridge and stared dumbfounded at his kin being clawed to shreds. An opening!
Could it be that The Kargaroc was helping them? And where was the other one? Nevertheless, there was one enemy left on this narrow walkway AND with anti-magic in place!

Next up, a heartrending scene with two Kargarocs!
