Land of Twilight's stories are told through two outlets: the Staff providing a background plot, and the stories that the players write for themselves. The members are able to leave an impact on our world not just through their stories, but also through what they can create. To that end, we have enabled a system where a group of members are able to create their own settlements and guilds through in-character actions and stories.
Both Settlements and Guilds require at least three unique writers participating with a character, in order to be acknowledged. Each will require in-character setup and proper development through threading in order to establish and to allow them to grow. NPCs may be used to fill your ranks, but try to keep the amount reasonable to how big your settlement or guild would be at the current stage. Custom Guilds and Settlements are meant to be vehicles for storytelling, so we do not recommend rushing their development. Have fun with it, and enjoy each stage!
Upon creation, Staff will need to know what the guild or settlement is about, and the motivations behind them, as well as where they are based. Look into other settlements and guilds on the site and try to create something unique! When first starting on a Guild, try to keep it to a single base. Keep Staff in the loop on the progress of the guild or settlement, and what has been done IC to develop them, and we will do our best to provide a good idea of what stage they would be. We recommend setting up a submission for the settlement or guild in the location or lore submission boards, and keeping track of how threads contribute to their growth. Once enough work has been done to establish them, the following perks may become available over time:
- Guilds and Settlements will both be given a set of Roles once established.
- A Guild can reasonably expand their horizons and create more bases with enough development.
- Eventually, a Settlement may be designated as a Town and receive its own sub-board with enough development.
Even if a guild or settlement drops below three people, it isn't immediately at risk of losing these perks. But if everyone involved goes inactive, with no interest in anyone else taking them up, the custom content may be removed from the listings. They can be picked up again later, but will need to put in the work and regain the needed member amount in order to regain their listings.
We hope this feature will help you enrich your stories and provide a potential direction for your characters!
