Settlement Leader: Queen Selene Merrows & King Josh Dragelion
Known as “The Crown City of Hyrule”. Built long ago in order to guard the Triforce, Hyrule City has become a massive melting pot of different races and cultures. The city serves as Hyrule’s capital and the centerpiece of the Royal Family’s power. Hyrule City is divided into three main areas: Hylia Square, the Residential District, and the Market District.
Hylia Square is the heart of Hyrule City. It is the highest source of foot traffic in all of Hyrule, as it is from here that one can easily access every other district in the city, as well as Hyrule Castle. Its most defining trait is a large fountain in the city's very center, designed in the image of the goddess Hylia herself. Taking advantage of the foot traffic, many small business owners have erected stalls in the square with hopes of improving their visibility. Larger business owners compete in an economic game to seize what little real estate for buildings in the square's corners are available.
The Residential District is itself split into three areas. Each denote different standards of living, and living costs differ depending on where within the district you are. The largest area of the Residential District is catered to those of middle class living, and have convenient access to Hylia Square with little travel needed. The slums are low-cost, but due to its smaller size, the presence of guards are sparse. It is the heart of Hyrule's criminal underworld, and many criminal organizations make their base in the sewers under the slums. Up the stairs from the main area meanwhile, is an array of large properties and extravagant housing that belong to those who can afford more expensive living. Many successful business owners, nobles and important figures make their homes here. As the bulk of the Residential District's guards are more frequently seen in the main area, many of higher-class living hire their own personal guards.
The Market District is the biggest shopping area in all of Hyrule. From small businesses to big chains, hundreds of places of business make their keep here. From the sale of weapons, to adventuring equipment, to novelty items and books. If there is something to sell, there is a good chance that you can find it here. It also doubles as a sort of entertainment and port district, and one can find an assortment of games here, as well as the centerpiece of Hyrule's sea trade. A stage has been erected in this district as well, giving performers a chance to show their stuff and giving people a reason to linger and see the nearby shops.
