| Josh knew he'd been wrong to yell at her, soon after that. But, could you blame him? She'd worried him sick, she'd almost gotten herself killed and it would have been his arrow that did her in - all because she couldn't listen to the words that him and Maude told her, every single time she came to visit. Stay on the mainroad, avoid the hunting grounds. When she spoke, it seemed to hit home, and his face fell, his eyes facing the ground. A silence hung for a short while, and finally, he would let out a sigh and do something that he'd never done for Farrah in the close to three years he had known her. He pulled her into a gentle - surprisingly gentle considering his size and strength - hug.
"... I'm sorry, okay?" He would speak quietly. "I... I was just so worried. So scared. I couldn't fathom the fact that you'd almost died, that I'd have been the cause, by accident or not. I don't know what I'd have done if that arrow had hit you. I shouldn't have yelled, and I'm sorry. I just wanted you to understand that you can't be wandering around these hunting grounds, Farrah... You're going to get hurt if you do, and Maude and I might not be able to stop it. I don't want that to happen, but... I really shouldn't have yelled, and once again I'm so sorry."
Josh had barely raised his voice to Farrah in the years since they had arrived, surprisingly. A warning raise, maybe, but nothing like this. Josh now barely raised his voice at all, actually. He had calmed down, become much more docile, much more gentle. Of course, if you asked Maude, he was always gentle.
He would break the hug gently and kneel down to her height, reaching up and wiping the tears from her eyes. It was so strange, considering they weren't far apart in age. But Farrah at times really did act like a child, and this was one of them. And since Maude had taken a shining to her as though she were one... Well, he was fine to follow suit.
"Let's go get you to Maude, see if we can fix... This" He remarked as he would reach up and place a hand on the arrow, tugging just a little, noting it didn't even budge. He lofted a brow at that.
"Goddesses, you have so much hair, it's bloody stuck in there. If it weren't for it being raised so high, that arrow probably would have soared over your head hun" Josh would add, a light chuckle escaping his lips. "Yeeeahhh... This is a job for the Mauderator."
Smiling a tad immaturely at the nickname for their mutual friend, Josh would rise to his feet.
"Come on, I'll show you back to the main road. But promise me something, okay? No more treks into the wooded areas off the main road. At least not without myself or Maude there. And if you find yourself lost, you need to stay out in the open. We've had travelers get lost out here before, and been mistaken for game. It's the sudden movements from areas obscured by leaves that do it. Hunters are taught to follow an instinct, to fire immediately should their prey make a sudden movement like that within the trees. The results haven't been pretty, obviously. We try to warn people best we can, but sometimes they just don't listen. Stay out in the open, and stand out. You need people to know you're a person, not a tasty buck
Speaking of which..." He began, suddenly realizing something. "I have an idea. That buck I was hunting should still be around here. I think Maude will probably be in a better mood and less likely to yell at the both of us, you for not being careful and me for... Well, the same thing... If we bring home a deer. Since I mentioned to her I was hunting that particular one, she's probably expecting it, soooo... Coming back without it and bringing you with an arrow in your hair is probably just going to put her in an even worse mood. So, what do you say we bring home a deer? I could use a second pair of eyes."
